Chuckling, Scott shook his head from left to right. “I would answer if I weren't positive you already knew.” Her beauty was overwhelming. In fact, Scott wondered if ever a thing so flawless as Emma had been created prior to her birth. Or if ever such a gorgeous creature could exist after her death. He could always tell whenever Emma was looking for something in his mind. However, Scott usually let her. It wasn't as if he had anything to hide from her, after all. Albeit in that little black box of his. But she did not have the key. Besides, she knew better than to dig in too far. Still, he was glad she had coached him into feeling whenever others entered his mind. It felt as if she was trying to protect him from any threat possible, and that just made him know, instinctively, that she could never possibly turn her coat on the X-Men. Not voluntarily. She was one of them, now. A follower of Xavier's dream.
He sat down by her side, staring and her enigmatic frozen gaze. He wished of only one thing : being able to read her minds. Bitterly, he knew that would never be possible. Yet Scott had never yearned more for anything ... Ever.
“Well, Emma, seeing how we're supposed to be teaching hormonal teenagers in less than two hours, I'm the more glad to stay sober.” He teased.
If Scott knew Emma more than anyone else could ever possibly claim to, he hardly knew her enough, in his opinion. However, her nightmares held no secrets to him. Even when he had been married to Jean, Scott knew Emma had the most terrible of nightmares. Her room had never been far from his - thankfully or, unfortunately, depending on who you asked - and the night after Sophie's death, he heard her heart-shattering scream in the middle of the night. Of course, Scott was a coward. And as of such, he stayed in bed, with his wife in every respect except in the physical term.
She told him she hadn't been experiencing the joy of nightmares, and at this, Scott relaxed. His palm caressed the back of her hand, as if he felt she needed a certain sense of comfort. Still, he remained alarmed : he knew her nightmares could never possibly entirely disappear. They would come back, eventually.
"Jet lag ?" he laughed. "And there I thought my girl had seen Galactus eating the school up or something. You do know they have pills against that, right ?" Frowning, the conversation took a more serious tone. And Scott did not want to go down that road. "Emma ... We have to accept the fact that this school ? It isn't ours anymore. And though we may both well know how to lead, and like leadership, we need to trust Kurt's better judgement. If things go too out of hand, we can always offer our help ... But until then, we should respect the man."
Taken aback, Scott jumped out of his chair. "Hey ! That's ... That's ... Completely irrelevant right now !" Turning around shamefully, he told her : "Back to the topic then : don't worry your pretty little head over all of this nonesense. It isn't worth the trouble, darling."
