“Alright you two, break it off,” Oz exclaimed over the loud music, his hands grabbed the two patrons that had been ready to claw at each other’s faces and pushing them away. He put himself in the middle, the smile on his face never left as his head went back and forth between the two unruly folks. Though the pointed look was sending one clear message– don’t fucking try me right now. “If you guys are looking to maiming each other, I heard the alley a few blocks down is an excellent place. But not on my dance floor, please.”
One of them had snorted and mumbled under his breath before turning on his heels. With his arms crossed, Oz watched him the patron slinked away towards the exit. It was always a bummer to have someone leave so early. But he supposed it might be better than the risk of having the guy down another shot and pick up a different fight. “Looks like everyone’s losing their shit tonight or something.” He turned around, clucking his tongue. “This is the fourth fight tonight and it’s not even midnight.”
It was a rare occasion that Scout wasn’t the one picking fights, but, just this once, she had done little wrong. Womb was one of the few places she actually enjoyed visiting, and she wasn’t in the business of getting kicked out of her favourite spots. So what, she had been dancing a little too vigorously, but was that any reason to try and launch her across the dancefloor.
Petulant protests were bit back at the look shot at her. If there was one thing she was good at, it was learning to keep her mouth shut. “Thanks,” she swiped her cheek, tender from the altercation, with the back of her wrist, wondering if a bruise would appear there. “I’d rather stay then go, though. If it s’all right with you.”
His musing didn’t feel entirely aimed at her, but she answered him anyway, pausing to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear. “Guess when people are tense, they go out looking to start something,” she reasoned. “Not sure there’s anything either of us can do anything about that.”
