Types of matter
Methods of Death & How They Feel
Drowning:Ā When victims eventually submerge, they hold their breath for as long as possible, typically 30 to 90 seconds. After that, they inhale some water, splutter, cough and inhale more. Survivors say there is a feeling of tearing and a burning sensation in the chest as water goes down into the airway. Then that sort of slips into a feeling of calmness and tranquility.Ā That calmness represents the beginnings of the loss of consciousness from oxygen deprivation, which eventually results in the heart stopping and brain death.
Heart Attack:Ā The most common symptom is chest pain: a tightness, pressure or squeezing, often described as an āelephant on my chestā, which may be lasting or come and go. This is the heart muscle struggling and dying from oxygen deprivation. Pain can radiate to the jaw, throat, back, belly and arms. Other signs and symptoms include shortness of breath, nausea and cold sweats.
Bleeding to Death:Ā Ā Anyone losing 1.5 litres ā either through an external wound or internal bleeding ā feels weak, thirsty and anxious, and would be breathing fast. By 2 litres, people experience dizziness, confusion and then eventual unconsciousness.
Fire:Ā Burns inflict immediate and intense pain through stimulation of the pain nerves in the skin. To make matters worse, burns also trigger a rapid inflammatory response, which boosts sensitivity to pain in the injured tissues and surrounding areas. As burn intensities progress, some feeling is lost but not much. 3rd degree burns donāt hurt as much as 2nd degree burns.
Decapitation:Ā Very quick. Consciousness is said to continue for a few seconds after decapitation. Itās thought to be painless. But the separation of the spinal cord and brain may cause severe pain.
Electrocution:Ā Higher currents can produce nearly immediate unconsciousness. The electric chair was designed to produce instant loss of consciousness and painless death, but thatās debatable. Itās been proposed thatĀ prisoners could instead be dying from heating of the brain, or perhaps from suffocation due to paralysis of the breathing muscles instead of electrocution itself because the skulls of the wall are a thick and powerful insulator.Ā
Falling from a height: Another instantaneous death.Ā Survivors of great falls often report the sensation of time slowing down. The natural reaction is to struggle to maintain a feet-first landing, resulting in fractures to the leg bones, lower spinal column and life-threatening broken pelvises. The impact traveling up through the body can also burst the aorta and heart chambers.Ā
Hanging: The rope puts pressure on the windpipe and the arteries to the brain. This can cause unconsciousness in 10 seconds, but it takes longer if the noose is incorrectly sited. Witnesses of public hangings often reported victims ādancingā in pain at the end of the rope, struggling violently as they asphyxiated.Ā
Lethal injection:Ā . First comes the anaesthetic thiopental to speed away any feelings of pain, followed by a paralytic agent called pancuronium to stop breathing. Finally potassium chloride is injected, which stops the heart almost instantly.Ā Eyewitnesses have reported inmates convulsing, heaving and attempting to sit up during the procedure, suggesting itās not always completely effective.
VacuumĀ (In Outer Space):Ā When the external air pressure suddenly drops, the air in the lungs expands, tearing the fragile gas exchange tissues. This is especially damaging if the victim neglects to exhale prior to decompression or tries to hold their breath. Oxygen begins to escape from the blood and lungs. Human survivors from NASA often report an initial pain, like being hit in the chest, and may remember feeling air escape from their lungs and the inability to inhale. Time to the loss of consciousness was generally less than 15 seconds.

[Update: Hiatus]
Hello, all of my followers that decided to keep following me despite the lack of activity for a long while. I am amazed and appreciate that you decided to stick around until now!
Truth is, I didn't occupy myself too much with the SCP universe in the past months and couldn't bring myself to visit this blog frequently. The muse just hasn't been on my wavelength as strongly as it used to, I guess.
Anyway, even though this blog will remain on a hiatus until further notice, you can easily reach me on my two currently active rp blogs, one for amnesia and one for outlast. If you'd like to unfollow me here, I understand that perfectly well. However, I'm still pretty sure that this blog won't be a project dropped for good, I just need some fresh inspiration for it.
So until then, have a great time!
Send my muse one of the following
"Who did this to you?" "Iām ashamed of you." "I hate you." "You disgust me." "I love you." "Donāt go, please!" "Just leave already." "I donāt care about you." "I donāt think Iāve ever seen so many dogs at onceā¦" "I donāt love you." "I lied." "Youāre pathetic."Ā "You need to sleep sometime."Ā "Come on, just hit me!"Ā "Leave me alone!" "Donāt touch me." "I wish Iād never met you." "Youāre adorable." "Do you have a cuddle buddy yet?" "Mind if I sleep here tonight?" "Youāre beautiful."

[update: still alive!]
Hello again, guys! It has been a while...
Sooo things haven't exactly worked out how I planned with this blog, but I haven't forgotten about it! Recently we had the first big convention of the year over here and I had to finish one of my cosplays last minute, aside from all the regular school work, so there was no free time left to spare for this little SCP. (If anyone's interested in my Zacharie cos, here are some test pics Ėā£Ė)
...Anyway, I'm finally done with all of my regular exams and only have to focus on the finals from now on. That means for me school ends in two weeks, and from then on I'll be able to write posts on here more constantly again. But until then I don't think I can properly focus on any rps, so please bear with me a bit longer.
See ya soon!
Youāre it! rules are: copy this message to 10 other beautiful blogs who you think deserve this message! keep the game going and make everyone feel beautiful! spread the love!! ā„
((hhhhhhh, that was unexpected! Thank you <3))
[update: recent lack of posts - semi hiatus]
Hey guys!
First of all thanks for the nice messages I found in my askbox just now! I'll try to answer the RP starter soonish and honestly get excited about every small message, so if you ever feel like contacting me - go right ahead!
However, as some of you may noticed I've been inactive over the past days, which is due to me currently repeating my last school year and the exam time starting again. I probably won't manage to be on here more often than around once a week until... the beginning of april, at least. Sorry for that, I'll still do my best to keep the post coming and stay as active on here as I can. After all, this is a lot of fun and a nice break from the daily school work.
Hope you understand and dont mind it too much.

Wis nodded as the man spoke to her. Most of it was common senseāor she hoped it wasāand she couldāve figured it out herself in the end. There were a few things she wasnāt too aware of. For one, she would have to keep him away from highly populated areas, especially during the day, until the Director saw SCP-1400 was behaving.
"Youāre in charge of him when you are not on assignments. From 9:30 until 18:00 in the evening." He said.
"Yeah. Iāve got it. Thanks!" She smiled at him and had both thumbs in her belt loops now. Maybe this was a way to get her foot in for a research position.
The two men left.
He watched the exchange end from the corner of his eye and leaned forward a bit; the gesture seemingly caught between a derisive bow and predatory attacking stance. The target managed to suppress his fear rather well, but it still fed 1400 sufficiently. Once the men left he averted his eyes and stretched his whole body, low noises of satisfaction rolling out of his throat and fading back into the constant whispering.
So, agent, what is the plan from now on? If you don't mind, I'd appreciate the permission to have a look around for a while. Under your surveillance, of course. Somewhere in the distance, SCP-682 raised it's voice, sending powerful echoes fraught with hatred and rage through the corridors. The masked ones hand trailed off as he moved closer towards the faint cry from a remote underground. It had been far too long since he could freely reach any other inhuman entity, and the positive outlook in that matter filled him with tainted anticipation.

"Agent Wis." She gave him a smile. "You donāt have one other than your designation, do you? I donāt imagine you would, but I donāt know much about your past. It doesnāt say anything about it on your file."
Wis hooked a thumb in her belt loop and began tapping with her foot again. He had a personality of course heād have a name right? An assumption, but sheād just as well call him by his designation if he wanted. A past life is hard to be reminded about, sheād know that.
He flipped to a new page. Well, I'm glad to make your acquaintance, agent Wis.
If I know one thing for sure, based on my years of containment, it is that the foundation does not take risks by choice. My earliest memory is of awakening in this place, and hearing what my first little sheep whimpered in his sleep right next to my cell. My name, just like my origin, are being constantly locked away in the unreachable depth of my memories. I doubt I'll be granted access to them in the near future. But if the designation is bothersome in conversation, feel free to call me by any name you consider fitting.
As noises of footsteps grew louder, he turned towards the door leading to the corridor. 1400 shivered slightly, already deciding on his new sheep based on the faint scent of his fear. They strode in soon after; only two unarmed personnel. The SCP's target froze in place as he noticed the piercing gaze, the other continued to walk up to the agent and instruct her on how to proceed over some device. All the masked one gathered was that they weren't assigned to stay long.
((damn its past 4 am again-- I'll be back tomorrow
