☆。.:*: 🍒┇ Don’t WORRY about it? This story is either a crock or some people were absolute dickheads who didn’t know what a joke really entitled: with everyone laughing at the end. Had they drugged him? What could have happened? His clothes tell her, if that story is true, that he might have been caught at home — early morning? Or last night? So many possibilities.
She observes him, tilts her head a slight, and one could swear you can hear, through the constant dripping around them, the cogs turning in her head, rearranging themselves to make sense of what she’s both seeing and hearing. Bottom lip sucked in, finally, she decides to play along, her curiosity (oh! It’s a KILLER, that cat like interest in people she manages to muster) at its peak.
❝Rebecca❞, she announces at last, then offers a smile, reassuring as she can make it, but her tone of voice errs on the cautious side still. ❝And um — this is Logan. In Utah? Where’re you from, Dennis? Maybe, if it’s not too far, I can offer you a ride home or at least to the nearest bus station?❞ Not the smartest thing to do, but he’d not asked for money yet, had not begged for anything — what suspicions she has begins to alleviate a tick, at the very least — and besides, she was never the most careful.
It was a little suspicious that she wasn’t more suspicious. Right? 507 didn’t really know how to quantify danger levels, here. She seemed fine, but appearances could be deceiving. But Utah was far from where he was supposed to be, which meant unless he got himself to a phone it was gonna be awhile before he was found. If he’d get found.
“You’re, like, not gonna try to rob me, are you?” His tone was joking but his shoulders tensed before he could stop them. He ran fingers through his hair and shivered. Not that there was much to rob. “Bus station, uh...would be great, I guess. If I got to a phone I could make a call, I just...” he gestured to himself, at his thin clothes and no shoes, and shrugged.
anarchy.
@learningmagics He went from trying to see which of the new guards he could make laugh to- not that- in a breath. A fraction of a breath. It was always like that and honestly, normally, that was fine. He was used to picking up the punch line later anyway. He was even used to landing in the in-between, the nothing, the ‘missed mark’. It’d happened before and it’d left him feeling so fucking empty he hadn’t been able to sit still or stand the light or dark for two whole weeks after. Fucking horrible, yeah, but still familiar.
This was different. He left the cafeteria and found himself in the great big void, and then he felt a yank, some sharp pull, he pulled like being tugged into ice water and then-
Then 507 was in a library. There was a person there, too, short and dark-haired and...scarred? He blinked.
“What the fuck?” he asked at her. And then, louder and with more urgency and a flinch that had him stumbling a step over when he noticed what was standing next to him: “What the fuck?”

“I excel at not giving a shit.”
“Don’t flatter yourself, you’re not that interesting.”
“Sir / Ma’am, I’m gonna say this as politely as possible…I will fuck you up.”
“I just wanted to save her.”
“You can’t save any of them.”
“I’ve never seen such violence over such small potatoes.”
“I’m gonna kill that fucking baby.”
“Who’s been making grilled cheese sandwiches with the defibrillator paddles?”
“Now you made me mad! Now we can never be friends!”
“You’re a constipator, [name]. You disturb my shit and that’s annoying.”
“If Romeo had just masturbated a couple times a week he could have saved both those nice families a whole heap of trouble.”
“If I see someone running, I just assume they’re a loser.”
“I like knowing that the space between my ears is immeasurable.”
“I do not say this phrase lightly in this hallowed place: This is fucking inedible.”
“Call me a ‘little thing’ again and I’ll put this fucking dart right between your twinkling eyes.”
“Oh [name], this is nothing. You should have seen the tattoos I’ve had to have removed.”
“I don’t wanna fit in. I just don’t wanna stand out.”

“Ah, fuck that shit. They can blow me.”
“You gotta think about all things you like, and decide whether they’re worth sticking around for.”
“I am sorry for your loss. The things in life you won’t do, the people you won’t know and who won’t know you. But there’s this life, where you are loved.”
“You are so beautiful; and I love you. I just don’t like you anymore.”
“I don’t feel safe anywhere.”
“I’ve been having a fuck of a time lately, [name]. Just a world of pain.”
“Do you ever wake up in the morning and realize that your life is meaningless?”
“I was born to be a rock star, if I could sing.”
“I’ve been in crack houses with more style.”
“The first blow to the head was self defense. The other three blows after that were probably a little murderous.”
“You don’t mess with fate.”
“People die when they are meant to die. There’s no discussion, no negotiation, no wiggle room. Life’s done, it’s done.”
“Life’s too short, and death is too long.”

“Hey! Ah- shit, you’re not closing, are you?”
Day seventeen of the shift, making it the longest in half a year. But it was fine. It was all good. This place was close enough to his-Earth and his-USA that even the little money he’d started keeping in his Foundation Issued Utility Belt and Fanny Pack was accepted. He’d stayed the first week in the little town outside the apparently abandoned facility he’d appeared in. The best thing to do he thought was to try and make his way to one of the other facilities that the Agents didn’t know he knew about. Either he’d get zapped back before he made it there, or he’d figure out what happened to the Foundation in this world. Either way, win-win. Who didn’t like a good old fashioned road trip?
Hence why here was here, in the home of Derby and Baseball- and why he was standing awkwardly in the entrance of the sweetest smelling bakery he’d passed in maybe forever. What, he was supposed to not go in? He just hadn’t realized it’d gotten so late.

☆。.:*: 🍒┇ The storm had been bad — enough for Becky to stay indoors at work when it hit even if she was done for the day. Early bird shift at the café meant an evening to herself, and part of the afternoon, but a portion had been sliced away under bad weather. Curse her for not taking the car today, but then, it had started off sunny and warm, and the walk to the shop, instead, had been tantalizing. Now, however, the sky was covered grey like static, and the world drip drip dripped tempest residue, wet, reflected in puddles — cars splashing the sidewalks once in a while if they zoomed at just the right speed, and so Becky hugged the buildings, because there was always some asshole who found pleasure in ruining someone’s clothes and day.
When the man approaches her, she appears a little stunned at first glance, because he looks a little disheveled, this one, but not necessarily homeless — confused? He’s a little taller than she, but outdoing her by almost a hundred pounds, yet Rebecca, as per usual, refuses to see any threat, no stranger danger for her, no sir, for she does believe the world to be inherently GOOD; and besides, bad things only happen to others, right?
❝Oh um — ❞, she begins, then offers a small smile, peach lips dull as the silver atmosphere superimposes upon them, upon everything.
Drip.
Drip.
Drip.
Taking the question as quite innocent, she does not register the bigger implications. Just a stranger asking for directions. ❝Twenty-third avenue❞, she then returns, ❝O’Connor’s about two blocks down that way”, she points to the right, then to the left, “and Banks is that way.❞
He nodded, serious and considering. What she told him was only a little helpful, but it was a start? She was willing to talk to him. Thank fuck he found a nice stranger.
"This is going to sound crazy," he said, waving his arms around himself and the street like it would help him make his point. Punctuate the story? "I got dropped off here by some guys. Practical joke, don't worry about it. Anyway, what I mean is: can you tell me what city I'm in?"
He gathered he was somewhere in the U-S-of-A based on her accent, and accents of some of the people passing by. But even that wasn't really helpful. It could mean it'd take hours to days for the agents to pick him up, if they weren't already close enough to catch his tracker. "My name's Dennis," he added, a second too late.

Sometimes, the universe- universes?- was- were?- kind to him. Sometimes, 507 opened his eyes after falling asleep under an endless ceiling of reflecting, hanging knives and was greeted by nice, normal sky with normal-clouds and normal lights and, hey, yeah. Sure, it looked and smelled like he was in some back alley. Sure, he didn’t have much on him besides his Foundation-issued sweats, tee, and knife. But he had all his limbs attached still (four), had the exact right number of injuries (none), and wasn’t currently suffering from hypothermia or dehydration.
“This is a win,” he said out loud. He was pretty sure there was no one in the alley with him- he’d learned, quickly, that when waking up in a strange place it was usually best to gauge surroundings before moving. The concrete below him was cracked and a little wet, which, gross, but not necessarily a huge problem. The brick walls were wet too, and the rusted fire escapes still had what he assumed were water droplets drip-drip-dripping down to puddles about another arm’s length away. It looked like he just missed a storm, which, hey. See? Win. 507 took in a deep, slow breath, letting that good post-rain and less-good trash smell fill his lungs, then pushed himself to a sit. Then to an unsteady-stand.
507 rolled his shoulders, pushed fingers through his hair, and took another look around. The alley ran between two tall buildings- 507 assumed they were apartments, but that was based more on his limited knowledge of cities-in-movies than actual...knowledge. Both ends of the alley were open, but only one had street-sounds. The other end was dark, made darker by the cloudy sky, and, frankly, looked like what movies thought scary alleys ought to look like. Briefly, 507 wondered if he’d jumped to another alternate reality again, like some weird grungy Pleasantville-type place. He decided he didn’t really want to find out, and headed for the street.
There were people on it, emerging from the buildings, some of which 507 could see now were storefronts. He took in the sights, not taking any offense to the way people power-walked past him (while aggressively not making eye contact- he understood). Then 507 nodded to himself and stepped up to the first person he could see who didn’t immediately look like they wanted the ground to open and swallow him up.
“Hey,” he greeted. “Can you tell me where I am?”
Is your character more likely to scoot an item across the floor to a new location using their feet or are they more likely to pick the item up and set it in the new location?
This is ‘throw other items at the item until it’s closer to you/you’ve made a clothing lasso’ erasure and 507 will not stand for it.
(literally)
