with the announcement of resident evil: veronica, here are some things i hope they keep from the original code veronica!
!!obviously cvx spoilers!!
1) Alexia and Alfreds relationship - I think it's a really interesting stance and parallel to the two other sibling relationships in the series (Weskers/Redfields), as well as adding a whole new level of horror and honestly sadness for them, especially Alfred with how he mourns the loss of his entire family, and his subsequent isolation on Rockfort.
2) Steve going to kiss a sleeping Claire - I know a LOT of fans HATE this scene and it's one of the main reasons they dislike Steve, but I think it shows a lot of insight into him as a character. The fact he's a 17 year old in a concentration camp for the crime of being the son of a traitor, who's been on Rockfort for who knows how long - Maybe even a few years. His interactions with girls during that time is zero to none, and I doubt he had many female relationships before Rockfort either other than his mom. Claire is one of the first girls he has seen in a LONG time, and is immediately kind to him and wants to help him survive, going as far as to rescue him on multiple occasions. I really think it shows how desperate he is for anything from a woman, but also his morals by changing his mind last second and then refusing to even face her from guilt. Teenage impulse is something everyone has experienced, and the fact he stopped himself despite it I think is a fun parallel to the ending. iykyk.
NOTE: i think it is bad that he tried to do this. i'm not praising him for the bare minimum of not violating a sleeping womans boundaries. i just think it is interesting for A Fictional Character to have a bad intention that they immediately regret.
3) Rodrigo as a character - Just the whole idea of both Redfields going out of their way to save somebody that wronged them, holding no grudge against him for it. I think it really shows the kindness of both of them.
4) Steve's canadian accent. please :(
5) Steve's confession !!!! I know a lot of people find it naratively unnecessary, but I think that he fell in love with Claire so quickly after meeting her is such a cute and childish aspect to his character. It really shows how fast he had to grow up because of Rockfort, and how deep down he really is just a stupid kid. I mean it's kind of shown through a lot of their interactions, especially with Steve always trying to play the role of "her knight in shining armour".
6) Since I'm on a Steve roll, I hope they keep his teenage angst too. His whole "Guns are better than people" monologue, how he trusts nobody, how trying to stick with other survivors will "only slow him down". Once again, I think its sooo important to his character and how Rockfort has affected him.
7) And I hope they keep him telling Claire about his father and how he betrayed Umbrella! I hope they go the extra mile and add the fact that Steve buried his father after killing his zombie self and built him a gravestone from the comic.
8) I really hope they keep Alfred crossdressing too. I know I already mentioned the Ashfords relationship, but I think it really shows how he mourns his sister.
10) Chris and Claire reunion from Darkside chronicles. "I thought tough girls like you didn't get worried." God its so important to me.
