Behind the scenes of days 76-100 of my 100 days of collage!

Peep the scissors that I used to cut out every single shape (even when it wasn't the most practical choice). I hoped that using big scissors would help reduce my perfectionism at least a little bit because I wouldn't be able to achieve as much detail in the shapes. I ended up fussing a lot with them anyway by moving all the shapes around for ages but I think it still would have been worse if I'd allowed myself to use a craft knife.

Using the big scissors for every shape also had the added bonus of helping me achieve quite a consistent look in each square making them into a more consistent series which is quite satisying to look back on.

I hate when I want a specific coloured pencil but when I reach into my pencil case I pull out every single other colour before the one I want

I was quite pleased with most of these even though it was getting harder and harder to make them (which was definetly not helped by the fact that I chose to make the squares for days 92-96 all in advance of going on holiday lol)

After day 50 I was really starting to struggle a bit. I think mentally I was really pushing towards day 50 and lost a bit of steam after the halfway point. Despite how difficult it was to keep going, I am pretty proud of the compositions I made during this stretch. I was making squares that I was more consistently happy with which is a good lesson for me to just start making stuff even when I feel unispired (easier said than done haha)!

Looking back after completing the whole 100 days I can see that I really starting to develop a sort of style/way of working during this span of days. I also starting taking more inspiration from things I had seen or been thinking about that day - I think I started to rely on this 'inspiration' a bit too much later on but I was still having fun with it here.

One of the biggest things I discovered is that the lighting in my flat is absolutely atrocious so in order to finally get good images of these I caved and had to buy a scanner 😅

The first 25 days of my 100 day project!!

Since graduating from art school last summer, I've had awful art block so it's been so nice to have a structure to creating and a reason to make something everyday.

I'm focusing (mostly) on creating images of and about nature, we'll see how long I can keep that up (on day 4, I simply couldn't resist making a smiley house lol)
