The android paused, head tilting curiously. Her breath caught in her throat at the sight of the boy. Her sisterly programming kicked in ( he reminded her of her younger âsiblingsâ ) and she instinctively knelt to his level, one hand patting his hair.
âIâm sorry, I havenât seen her, but Iâll help you look! Two sets of eyes is better than one, right?â
Definitely not used to that, he was the eldest sibling after all. But he decides not to question it, if itâll help him get his cat back.
âRight... Thank y' kindly miss. Sheâs made of copper.â
âExcuse me, have yâ seen a metal cat anywhere?â
The young boy was clearly in distress, worried for his latest INVENTION. She was designed to act independent, but he couldnât help but get worried about her!
âShe didnât come home last night, and Iâm worried...â
{{ For those whoâd like to rp with a specific muse, like this post for a thread with the inventor, and this post for a thread with the tinkerer. Otherwise, just like this and Iâll choose one.
Note:Â feel free to unlike and then like it again if you did a long time ago, I plan on keeping this for a while so I donât have to redo the links. }}
â just because youâre used to it doesnât mean it automatically dissipates any feelings of negativity. â as unused to emotions as she was, even she can take note of the change in demeanor he presented. â let us go then. i do not wish to expose you any longer, despite your claims of being accustomed to it. â
unfortunately, her programming prevented her from disciplining children physically. that was a shame, really; she figured everyone there could use a good spanking in order to become better people.
 â...â
The boy understood this was an act of kindness, but for some reason he'd made up his mind to hold a grudge about this whole thing. The only thing heâd enjoyed was being taken away from him (And he didnât care that they were taking him away from the source of his misery; let him be mad about this).
reaching out and lightly patting the youth on the head, botomiku tilts her head to the side. â i hope you are adjusting well? â handing aiden the bag of chocolates, she hums in satisfaction. a good mother would give chocolates, right? that is the purpose of this day. theyâre shaped like various tools, representative of the trinkets he seemed to enjoy playing with.
 ââŠâ
The boy stares emptily at the sweets in his hand. He had no idea whether heâd like it or not; it had been so long since heâd had anything sweet. Or were chocolates bitter? Again, he really wasnât sure.
He also didnât know if he should thank her or not. He still wasnât too sure about this whole arrangement. Admittedly it was nice to have some peace and quiet for a change⊠Though heâd rather be in the junkyard.
That sounded nice⊠By the look on his face, he had good memories with that bird, too. It made her wonder if having a pet was that nice; while all of her friends had a pet or two, Luka herself never really had one⊠There had been a tank of fish, but that was technically more of a family pet than one of her own.
âActually⊠I donât. Iâve been thinking about it, as Iâve been lonely lately, living on my own, but⊠Iâm a little worried if Iâll take care of any pet as well as I think I would.â She couldnât help the fear; she never really had cared for animals personally and she wanted to give them the best. If sheâd had more experience she mightâve felt better, but as things wereâŠ
There was just a lot of confidence she was lacking.
âI think itâll be fine, miss. The animal can tell if youâre doinâ your best, yâ know? And the great thing about animals is that if y' love them, theyâll love yâ back.â
Of course, getting a pet wasnât something to take lightly. Some pets are easier to care for than others.
âWhat kinda pet were yâ thinking of? Maybe I could help yâ pick something easy to start off with.â
hands shift to cradle the box carefully, reminding herself to not use a hundred percent of her power. though she was also taking in the state of the area, noting the lack of optimal living conditions for the children here. still, for some reason, aiden was the target of animosity â for what reason was that ?? surely he could also hear the snide remarks ( even if he wasnât an android with advanced hearing )âŠ
â aiden, are you alright ?? â blunt as usual, she returned her gaze towards the other. even if she didnât particularly understand emotions, she was certain these unpleasant comments werenât wanted by him. â we may leave now if you wish. speaking to the adult is just a formality. they can check the arriving records later. â
âOf COURSE Iâm fine. I live here, remember? Well, lived... anything that happens here, Iâm used to.â
He certainly didnât look okay. The few specks of curiosity and liveliness seems to have disappeared completely. He looks as if heâs trying to disappear.
âIâve spent years here. I can stand another hour.â
she nodded in silent agreement, though her eyes wandered to take in the environment with calculated curiosity. the android had not ventured often outside, and since she had lived surrounded by advanced technology, all she had ever seen was pristine architecture.
â alright. iâll follow you and carry what you wish for me to carry, then i will have a conversation with the adult in this building. by now my request to the external servers should have made it to this area, but i will double check just in case. â she paid no heed to the stares and side conversations, instead, keeping her attention focused on the child before her.
â ⊠â such cruel remarks regarding himâŠit was a wonder he was still somewhat accepting to her approach.
He looked empty, as if he was shutting out the world around him. Really, though, he was listening to every single murmur in the room.
Look, itâs the freak. Whoâs that person heâs with? Of course heâs adopted by someone that weird. Thereâs no way sheâs actually adopting him; she must be visiting. Yeah, youâre right.
He says nothing and leads her to a door labeled 3B, an expansive room filled with nothing but cheap looking beds. He walks over to a bed that looks particularly beaten up and drags two boxes out from under it. He hands Botomiku the larger one, which was in considerably worse shape than the other.
well⊠she supposed vagueness wasnât a bad trait. he most likely held his own reasons for the obscurity, but still, as an android she much preferred details ( looks like there was a lot she would have to adapt to when it came to aiden ). â i see. is it alright if you were to show me what â stuff â it is when we return to my place of residence ?? â
trailing after him, botomiku did look at a bit of a loss. this was her first time dealing with a child, after all, though he seemed to have a more mature demeanor, most definitely.
âIf you donât touch any of it, thatâs fine by me.â
The building they arrive at seems a little run down, as if people had just given up on caring for it. There was a fence enclosing a small play area, but some of it had been knocked down and no one was outside regardless.
Aiden walks in silently. No one seems to pay any attention to the one eyed child until they noticed the STRANGE VISITOR, and the room filled with whispers and petty remarks.
a compromise she would just have to accept. â yes, i suppose this is the best decision. â she gave a small nod, blinking once as she tilted her head. â then please lead the way. although i am curious as to what these fragile things comprise of if you would put so much care into their preservation. â
 âWell, just... you know, stuff.â
It was hard to describe it all, really. It all fell into a category of ârandom mechanical junk that does some thingsâ, in all honesty.
The child began to walk back to the orphanage, trying not to listen to the voices in his head observing how much of an IDIOT he was for going along with this.
âI see⊠Well, I hope that youâll have better luck with it the next time, then!â He already seemed like he was on the right track, he just needed to work out the kinks inâŠ.whatever exactly was wrong. Luka wasnât much one for building things like that, here.
âReally? He mustâve been a very dear bird to youâŠâ That was pretty nice, actually, to make a sort of in âmemorialâ to his bird like that.
 âYes, he was very special.â
The inventor closed his eyes and sighed with a smile, remembering the cute yellow bird. He missed James dearly, but surely they were in a better place now.

â then⊠should we divide the labor amongst ourselves ?? â he had a point, but she didnât feel like it was right to make him carry it all by himself. though she was definitely curious about what he had that made him so protective over how it was handled, she figured she could ask about it later.
â...Iâll let you carry everything except the fragile things, does that work for you?â
Honestly, there wasnât much he had to carry in the first place. His trinkets probably took up the BULK of it, but they were all very small.
â hmm⊠then shouldnât this be our first trust exercise ?? â she tilted her head, a finger reaching up to tap at her chin. â to allow me to handle some of the things youâve been carrying by yourself all this time. if even a fragment breaks, then you may penalize me. it seems that these are very important to you, so i will most certainly ensure their safety. â
âI donât know... Iâd rather not take the chance. Accidents happen, after all.â
Penalize her? That wouldnât make him feel any better! That wouldn'tâ change the fact that they were broken.
â i am able to handle fragile things as well. i merely have to adjust the amount of strength i use. â her gaze shifted, scanning the extent of his body. â depending on the amount, i do not believe you will be able to carry it all. perhaps, it is only right that i carry them as your guardian. âÂ
âI donât know... I really, really donât want any of it breaking... You could carry my tools, maybe?â
The human fidgets a little and tugs at his jacket sleeve. Just the thought of some of it shattering made him nervous.
â model name is BV01 bottle miku. although⊠if youâd like, botomiku serves as a purpose of differentiation. â though he didnât shake her hand, she didnât think much on it and decided to lightly pat his shoulder instead, a form of reassurance she usually saw humans give.
â that is fine. i am equipped with enhanced physical strength. please lead the way back and leave the rest to me. â
âOh. In that case, Iâll carry them all by myself.â
He definitely wouldnât want any of his little gadgets to be DAmAGeD from misuse. There were many times when heâd broken them himself, and he was... to put it lightly, a total weakling.
âThe stuff I have to move isnât heavy; itâs fragile.â
â the company has a garden, if that will suffice as a substitute for your scenery. i also have a pond, where i raise my other fishes. i hope you do not hate them. although i do not own myself, they have provided a living environment so that i may at least be satisfied. â she hummed. â although i can also contemplate other options for you should you not be satisfied with what is currently in existence. â her twintails curled backwards, resting at her sides as she extended a hand towards the youth.
â what is your name ?? i realize that i have failed to inquire this of you before i made this decision to take you in. â
 â...Aiden Hunter. What about you?â
He stared at the hand for a moment, but despite knowing he was meant to shake it just returned his gaze back to her face.
â...I might need help moving my things out of the orphanage.â
