The android paused, head tilting curiously. Her breath caught in her throat at the sight of the boy. Her sisterly programming kicked in ( he reminded her of her younger ‘siblings’ ) and she instinctively knelt to his level, one hand patting his hair.
“I’m sorry, I haven’t seen her, but I’ll help you look! Two sets of eyes is better than one, right?”
Definitely not used to that, he was the eldest sibling after all. But he decides not to question it, if it’ll help him get his cat back.
“Right... Thank y' kindly miss. She’s made of copper.”
The young boy was clearly in distress, worried for his latest INVENTION. She was designed to act independent, but he couldn’t help but get worried about her!
“She didn’t come home last night, and I’m worried...”
{{ For those who’d like to rp with a specific muse, like this post for a thread with the inventor, and this post for a thread with the tinkerer. Otherwise, just like this and I’ll choose one.
❛ just because you’re used to it doesn’t mean it automatically dissipates any feelings of negativity. ❜ as unused to emotions as she was, even she can take note of the change in demeanor he presented. ❛ let us go then. i do not wish to expose you any longer, despite your claims of being accustomed to it. ❜
unfortunately, her programming prevented her from disciplining children physically. that was a shame, really; she figured everyone there could use a good spanking in order to become better people.
“...”
The boy understood this was an act of kindness, but for some reason he'd made up his mind to hold a grudge about this whole thing. The only thing he’d enjoyed was being taken away from him (And he didn’t care that they were taking him away from the source of his misery; let him be mad about this).
reaching out and lightly patting the youth on the head, botomiku tilts her head to the side. ❛ i hope you are adjusting well? ❜ handing aiden the bag of chocolates, she hums in satisfaction. a good mother would give chocolates, right? that is the purpose of this day. they’re shaped like various tools, representative of the trinkets he seemed to enjoy playing with.
“…”
The boy stares emptily at the sweets in his hand. He had no idea whether he’d like it or not; it had been so long since he’d had anything sweet. Or were chocolates bitter? Again, he really wasn’t sure.
He also didn’t know if he should thank her or not. He still wasn’t too sure about this whole arrangement. Admittedly it was nice to have some peace and quiet for a change… Though he’d rather be in the junkyard.
That sounded nice… By the look on his face, he had good memories with that bird, too. It made her wonder if having a pet was that nice; while all of her friends had a pet or two, Luka herself never really had one… There had been a tank of fish, but that was technically more of a family pet than one of her own.
“Actually… I don’t. I’ve been thinking about it, as I’ve been lonely lately, living on my own, but… I’m a little worried if I’ll take care of any pet as well as I think I would.” She couldn’t help the fear; she never really had cared for animals personally and she wanted to give them the best. If she’d had more experience she might’ve felt better, but as things were…
There was just a lot of confidence she was lacking.
“I think it’ll be fine, miss. The animal can tell if you’re doin’ your best, y’ know? And the great thing about animals is that if y' love them, they’ll love y’ back.”
Of course, getting a pet wasn’t something to take lightly. Some pets are easier to care for than others.
“What kinda pet were y’ thinking of? Maybe I could help y’ pick something easy to start off with.”
hands shift to cradle the box carefully, reminding herself to not use a hundred percent of her power. though she was also taking in the state of the area, noting the lack of optimal living conditions for the children here. still, for some reason, aiden was the target of animosity — for what reason was that ?? surely he could also hear the snide remarks ( even if he wasn’t an android with advanced hearing )…
❛ aiden, are you alright ?? ❜ blunt as usual, she returned her gaze towards the other. even if she didn’t particularly understand emotions, she was certain these unpleasant comments weren’t wanted by him. ❛ we may leave now if you wish. speaking to the adult is just a formality. they can check the arriving records later. ❜
“Of COURSE I’m fine. I live here, remember? Well, lived... anything that happens here, I’m used to.”
He certainly didn’t look okay. The few specks of curiosity and liveliness seems to have disappeared completely. He looks as if he’s trying to disappear.
“I’ve spent years here. I can stand another hour.”
she nodded in silent agreement, though her eyes wandered to take in the environment with calculated curiosity. the android had not ventured often outside, and since she had lived surrounded by advanced technology, all she had ever seen was pristine architecture.
❛ alright. i’ll follow you and carry what you wish for me to carry, then i will have a conversation with the adult in this building. by now my request to the external servers should have made it to this area, but i will double check just in case. ❜ she paid no heed to the stares and side conversations, instead, keeping her attention focused on the child before her.
❛ … ❜ such cruel remarks regarding him…it was a wonder he was still somewhat accepting to her approach.
He looked empty, as if he was shutting out the world around him. Really, though, he was listening to every single murmur in the room.
Look, it’s the freak. Who’s that person he’s with? Of course he’s adopted by someone that weird. There’s no way she’s actually adopting him; she must be visiting. Yeah, you’re right.
He says nothing and leads her to a door labeled 3B, an expansive room filled with nothing but cheap looking beds. He walks over to a bed that looks particularly beaten up and drags two boxes out from under it. He hands Botomiku the larger one, which was in considerably worse shape than the other.
well… she supposed vagueness wasn’t a bad trait. he most likely held his own reasons for the obscurity, but still, as an android she much preferred details ( looks like there was a lot she would have to adapt to when it came to aiden ). ❛ i see. is it alright if you were to show me what ‘ stuff ‘ it is when we return to my place of residence ?? ❜
trailing after him, botomiku did look at a bit of a loss. this was her first time dealing with a child, after all, though he seemed to have a more mature demeanor, most definitely.
“If you don’t touch any of it, that’s fine by me.”
The building they arrive at seems a little run down, as if people had just given up on caring for it. There was a fence enclosing a small play area, but some of it had been knocked down and no one was outside regardless.
Aiden walks in silently. No one seems to pay any attention to the one eyed child until they noticed the STRANGE VISITOR, and the room filled with whispers and petty remarks.
a compromise she would just have to accept. ❛ yes, i suppose this is the best decision. ❜ she gave a small nod, blinking once as she tilted her head. ❛ then please lead the way. although i am curious as to what these fragile things comprise of if you would put so much care into their preservation. ❜
“Well, just... you know, stuff.”
It was hard to describe it all, really. It all fell into a category of “random mechanical junk that does some things”, in all honesty.
The child began to walk back to the orphanage, trying not to listen to the voices in his head observing how much of an IDIOT he was for going along with this.
“I see… Well, I hope that you’ll have better luck with it the next time, then!” He already seemed like he was on the right track, he just needed to work out the kinks in….whatever exactly was wrong. Luka wasn’t much one for building things like that, here.
“Really? He must’ve been a very dear bird to you…” That was pretty nice, actually, to make a sort of in ‘memorial’ to his bird like that.
“Yes, he was very special.”
The inventor closed his eyes and sighed with a smile, remembering the cute yellow bird. He missed James dearly, but surely they were in a better place now.

❛ then… should we divide the labor amongst ourselves ?? ❜ he had a point, but she didn’t feel like it was right to make him carry it all by himself. though she was definitely curious about what he had that made him so protective over how it was handled, she figured she could ask about it later.
“...I’ll let you carry everything except the fragile things, does that work for you?”
Honestly, there wasn’t much he had to carry in the first place. His trinkets probably took up the BULK of it, but they were all very small.
❛ hmm… then shouldn’t this be our first trust exercise ?? ❜ she tilted her head, a finger reaching up to tap at her chin. ❛ to allow me to handle some of the things you’ve been carrying by yourself all this time. if even a fragment breaks, then you may penalize me. it seems that these are very important to you, so i will most certainly ensure their safety. ❜
“I don’t know... I’d rather not take the chance. Accidents happen, after all.”
Penalize her? That wouldn’t make him feel any better! That wouldn't’ change the fact that they were broken.
❛ i am able to handle fragile things as well. i merely have to adjust the amount of strength i use. ❜ her gaze shifted, scanning the extent of his body. ❛ depending on the amount, i do not believe you will be able to carry it all. perhaps, it is only right that i carry them as your guardian. ❜
“I don’t know... I really, really don’t want any of it breaking... You could carry my tools, maybe?”
The human fidgets a little and tugs at his jacket sleeve. Just the thought of some of it shattering made him nervous.
❛ model name is BV01 bottle miku. although… if you’d like, botomiku serves as a purpose of differentiation. ❜ though he didn’t shake her hand, she didn’t think much on it and decided to lightly pat his shoulder instead, a form of reassurance she usually saw humans give.
❛ that is fine. i am equipped with enhanced physical strength. please lead the way back and leave the rest to me. ❜
“Oh. In that case, I’ll carry them all by myself.”
He definitely wouldn’t want any of his little gadgets to be DAmAGeD from misuse. There were many times when he’d broken them himself, and he was... to put it lightly, a total weakling.
“The stuff I have to move isn’t heavy; it’s fragile.”
❛ the company has a garden, if that will suffice as a substitute for your scenery. i also have a pond, where i raise my other fishes. i hope you do not hate them. although i do not own myself, they have provided a living environment so that i may at least be satisfied. ❜ she hummed. ❛ although i can also contemplate other options for you should you not be satisfied with what is currently in existence. ❜ her twintails curled backwards, resting at her sides as she extended a hand towards the youth.
❛ what is your name ?? i realize that i have failed to inquire this of you before i made this decision to take you in. ❜
“...Aiden Hunter. What about you?”
He stared at the hand for a moment, but despite knowing he was meant to shake it just returned his gaze back to her face.
“...I might need help moving my things out of the orphanage.”
