me: i can only take one character. also me, here with my fourth:

piper  is  from  las  vegas  where  her  family  has  a  rich  history  with  the  city  and  in  turn  has  a  lot  of  money  because  of  their  shadier  history  inside  of  it.  because  of  this  piper  has  been  given  everything  since  the  day  she  was  born  and  she  never  truly  had  to  work  for  what  she  had.

she  met  her  ex-fiancee  emily  (yes,  a  woman)  while  she  was  visiting  the  city  and  they  fell  in  love  much  to  the  dismay  of  her  family  who  imagined  she’d  marry  into  another  powerful  family  within  las  vegas. 

she  has  no  idea  when  it  started.  they  were  whispers  at  first  and  occasional;  whispers  she  couldn’t  hear  almost  like  gentle  breezes  of  wind.  sometimes  she’d  go  a  long  time  without  one  and  sometimes  they’d  grow  to  be  too  much  entirely.  that’s  when  she’d  start  drinking  because  she  couldn’t  explain  them  without  sounding  completely  crazy.  

CAR  ACCIDENT  TW  /  DEATH  TW  /  PTSD  TW:  the  night  she  finally  did  scream,  she  was  in  the  car  with  her  fiancee.  she  was  driving  and  because  the  scream  was  so  powerful,  she  lost  control  of  the  car.  it  hit  a  guard  rail  and  the  car  flipped.  emily  seemingly  died  on  impact  though  the  coroner  couldn’t  explain  why  or  how  her  skull  shattered  from  the  inside  out.  piper  was  in  the  hospital  for  two  weeks  before  being  released  with  a  broken  arm  but  otherwise  perfect  physical  health.  the  issue  she  faced  was  ptsd  originally.  every  time  she’d  close  her  eyes  she  was  right  back  in  that  car  watching  emily  take  her  last  breaths. she  was  only  twenty  three  at  the  time  but  carries  it  with  her.

MENTAL  ILLNESS  TW  /  PSYCHIATRIC  CARE  TW:  after  the  accident  the  whispers  grew  at  alarming  rates.  she  couldn’t  go  to  work  anymore,  couldn’t  get  out  of  bed  --  and  if  she  didn’t  scream,  she’d  end  up  finding  dead  bodies.  if  the  police  didn’t  suspect  her,  her  family  grew  cold  and  distant.  eventually  it  grew  too  hard  for  them  to  handle  and  sent  her  to  a  long  term  care  facility  in  puerto  rico.  she  was  there  for  two  and  a  half  years  until  she  was  released.

PLANE  CRASH  TW:  she  was  on  the  same  flight  bobby  and  his  girls  were  on.  they  even  got  to  talking  despite  how  quiet  and  mousy  she  had  been.  he  calmed  her  when  they  hit  turbulence.  at  the  end  though,  their  plane  ended  up  going  down  and  she  was  separated  until  they  reconnected  on  the  island  and  she  hasn’t  left  him  or  the  kiddos  alone  since.

personality  wise,  she's  very  mousy  and  quiet.  she  can  be  really  reserved  and  pick  her  moments  to  speak  when  needed  which  is  a  far  cry  from  the  woman  she  was  originally  in  las  vegas.  she  can  be  skittish  and  scare  easily.  mostly  she’s  quiet  because  she’s  listening  to  the  whispers  around  her  finally  rather  than  drinking  or  avoiding  them.  everyone  seems  to  have  them,  just  some  more  and  louder  than  others.

in  “rehab”  she  discovered  a  love  for  horseback  riding  and  rekindled  her  love  for  art;  particularly  graphic  designing.  she  works  on  the  island  developing  pamplets,  brochures  and  other  things  for  anyone  that  approaches  her.  she  prefers  to  work  alone  and  in  private  and  while  she  doesn’t  charge  much  for  her  stuff,  she  also  works  for  whatever  she  gets/needs  now  such  as  making  dinner  for  ford  so  she  can  ride  one  of  his  horses.

other  facts  include:  she’s  five  feet  five  inches.  she  speaks  english,  spanish  and  some  american  sign  language  because  she  learned  in  puerto  rico.  she’s  bisexual.  while  she  doesn’t  drink  heavily  anymore,  she  does  enjoy  the  occasional  glass  of  wine  with  bobby.  her  sense  of  style  now  consists  of  comfortable  clothing  and  boots.

Dawson was always happy to have someone in the bakery. At first, he had pictured it as a solo venture, but it got isolating and difficult to manage everything at once. So having Piper around was a blessing for him. Walking from the back of the bakery he placed four mini pies in front of her. “Can you try these for me?” He was testing new unique flavors. “Salted Honey Custard, Earl Grey Tea, Blueberry and Gooseberry, and then Whiskey walnut.” He stood with his hands behind his back, eagerly awaiting her reviews.

𝚜𝚑𝚎  𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚣𝚎𝚍  𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝  𝚜𝚑𝚎  𝚕𝚘𝚘𝚔𝚎𝚍  𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎.  tiny,  fragile,  pale. . .  couldn’t  handle  customers  for  more  than  a  few  minutes  without  having  to  head  in  the  back.  today  is  slow  at  least  and  she’s  grateful  for  that.  piper’s  restocking  napkin  &.  utensil  holders  just  to  be  sure  for  the  next  rush  when  she  hears  dawson  behind  her.  she  turns  and  glances  between  the  pies  and  dawson,  “are  you  going  to  fire  me  if  i  can’t  pick  a  favorite?”  it’s  not  often,  believe  it  or  not,  that  she  says  more  than  a  handful  of  words  to  anyone.  dawson’s  one  of  the  special  ones  that  can’t  shut  her  up.  “i  smell. . .  honey  and  earl  grey  tea  the  strongest.”

𝚒𝚝  𝚑𝚊𝚍𝚗'𝚝  𝚋𝚎𝚎𝚗  this  bad  lately  believe  it  or  not.  she  had  learned  ways  to  cope  with  the  loss.  here  on  the  island  there  weren’t  so  many  reminders  of  everything  she’s  lost.  truth  be  told,  she  didn’t  think  there  were  daisies  on  the  island.  silly,  right?  maybe  she  found  comfort  in  the  thought.  a  safety  blanket  she  hadn’t  realized  she  wrapped  around  herself.  “thank  you,”  comes  softly  from  deep  inside  her,  grateful  he  didn’t  push.  “actually,  more  daisies?  they  seem  to  be  popular.”  piper  points  out,  pulling  the  three  bouquets  still  in  the  bucket  out  and  close  to  her.  “they’re  my  favorite.”  it’s  not  entirely  a  lie,  she  realized.  she  wasn’t  a  flower  girl  originally  but  it  seemed  emily  instilled  the  love  in  her  after  all.

𝚑𝚎𝚛  𝚝𝚑𝚛𝚘𝚊𝚝  𝚑𝚞𝚛𝚝  in  the  usual  way.  it  was  like  someone  had  a  hold  of  it  and  was  squeezing  it.  she  often  wondered  why  her  but  who  wouldn’t?  “i’m  sorry,”  she  speaks  in  a  squeak.  the  whispers  are  back  but  she  tries  to  focus  on  the  other.  her  hand  moves  to  accept  the  handkerchief  and  turns  away  for  a  moment  to  wipe  at  the  tears  before  they  escaped  her  eyes.  when  she  felt  a  little  better,  hand  gripping  the  handkerchief  like  a  security  blanket,  she clears  her  throat  again.  “thank  you.  i’m  just...  missing  someone  i  wish  were  here.”  not  that  he  really  needed  an  excuse  but  she  can’t  help  it.  “you  work  here,  don’t  you?”

𝚑𝚎𝚛  𝚑𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚝  𝚏𝚎𝚕𝚝  𝚑𝚎𝚊𝚟𝚢  as  it  beat  deep  in  her  chest.  she  hadn’t  even  realized  her  eyes  had  been  watering  as  she  stared  at  the  daisies,  flashing  back  to  a  memory  of  emily  telling  her  how  much  she’d  loved  them.  there  were  so  many  daisies  over  those  years  they  shared  because  while  piper  wasn’t  a  flower  kind  of  woman,  she  loved  the  smile  emily  made  when  emily  received  them.  and  better  yet,  when  she  got  them  from  her.  she  hadn’t  realized  someone  was  talking  to  her  until  the  ringing  in  her  head  dissipated  and  piper  took  a  step  back,  “i’m  sorry,  what  did  you  say?”  she  asks,  trying  not  to  sound  as  hurt  as  she  felt.

𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎  𝚍𝚊𝚢  𝚠𝚎𝚛𝚎  𝚎𝚊𝚜𝚒𝚎𝚛  than  others  were.  today  was  not  one  of  those  days.  piper  had  fallen  quiet,  so  quiet  most  could  hear  a  pin  drop,  listening  to  the  whispers  around  her.  the  seemed  to  grow  from  whispers  to  a  loud  whistling  in  her  ears  and  her  eyes  began  to  burn,  having  forgotten  to  blink  until  she  sits  down  on  the  bench  to  catch  herself.  it  seems  for  a  moment  she  needs  to  scream...  but  it  never  came.  no,  the  only  thing  that  happened  was  she  was  left  with  the  urge  scratching  in  her  throat.  it  was  only  when  she  blinked  back  tears  had  she  realized  she  had  even  been  talking  to  someone  at  all.  “uh,”  piper  stammered,  unsure  of  what  to  say  other  than,  “where  were  we?”

"𝚒  𝚋𝚛𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑𝚝  𝚠𝚒𝚗𝚎,"  she  told  him  as  he  neared.  her  eyes  motioned  to  the  ground  at  an  arm  of  the  swingset.  piper  had  sank  into  the  swing  with  a  little  ease,  almost  too  quickly  remembering  why  she  used  to  love  swings  as  a  kid.  “seemed  like  a  wine  kind  of  night.”
