STEVE PEMBERTON & REECE SHEARSMITH Taskmaster parallels - part two
if there are alternate dimensions out there, i hope they're still best friends 🧡
Check out my TikTok
love them<3
Inspiration came from taking my friend to watch TLoG and she said it made her brain overloaded.
Didn't realize there were so many characters until I counted them.
Reece Shearsmith: 35
Steve Pemberton: 32
Mark Gatiss: 35
Jeremy Dyson: 11
That'll be 113 if you counting the movie versions of themselves and minus the two overlapping characters.
Happy birthday to Reece!!^﹃^
Flyer for "Death Warmed Up," written by Steve Pemberton and Mark Gatiss. Originally written while they were at Bretton Hall, they staged a version as "Media Babies" at the Canal Café Theatre in 1991 and Steve recruited Reece Shearsmith to work on some poster design.
“Times are hard for fun-loving assassins Reg and William. The recession is biting, the rent is due, and their callous slaughter of irksome 12-year-old Melanie Fowler only paid enough for the bullets and a packet of fig rolls … but out of the blue comes the hit of a lifetime and before long the boys are plunged headlong into a diabolic maelstrom of terror and tea.”
Steve played Reg, Mark played William.

NEXT TIME ON DOCTOR WHO:
Ninth Doctor: Here we are! Mediaeval England!
cut
Rose: It’s like… an egg. A big egg.
cut
Mediaeval king: My men! We ride!
cut
Ninth Doctor: There’s something wrong here. I can feel it.
cut
Rose: Hello? I’m Rose. I’m not gonna hurt you. The Doctor, he’s got this… thing. This screwdriver. Maybe he can put you back together again.
cut
Unsettling seer: The fall is nigh. The eggs are in their baskets.
cut
Ninth Doctor: Oh, this is really bad.
cut
Charismatic villain: I’m sorry, Doctor, but I’m afraid it’s time… for a fall.
cut
CGI monster: (hissing) The Geltheen Host must rise again! The hatching must commence!
cut
(Shot of something emerging from an egg and shrieking)
cut
Ninth Doctor: They’re on every wall, in every square, in every town in the country! A hundred eggs, all ready to hatch!
cut
Rose: We have to do something, or they’re all gonna die!
cut
Ninth Doctor: (shouting from the distance) ROSE! DON’T TOUCH THAT EGG!
cut
Charismatic villain: When I use a word… it means exactly what I choose it to mean.
cut
Ninth Doctor: (shouting, angry) ALL THE KING’S HORSES! AND ALL THE KING’S MEN!
cut
Charismatic villain: Let the shattering of this world… commence.

the crazy thing about doctor who is that it really is the best show ever for 30 seconds at a time. you never know when those 30 seconds will be. sometimes they happen multiple times in a single episode and sometimes you wait years and years and years. and the best part is those 30 seconds are surrounded by the worst show ever, which is also doctor who
a bunch of inside no 9 shots with beautiful lighting for your perusal
the parallels between riddle of the sphinx and the trolley problem makes me feel so insane AND this song fits them both well..... thank you inside no 9 and fiona apple ❤️❤️
Been nostalgically going through old photos. Here’s the Gents at the stage door at Drury Lane in 2001. I may have been more than once… (slight clue in Mark’s sudden outfit change!)
I’ve shared that Reece pic before, but very happy to find the source and expand the set with the rest of the gents!
I was gonna put all this in tags, but fuck it, I have big feelings about this. Photos like these get copy-pasted to pinterest and twitter etc etc all the time without any link back to or acknowledgement of the op. They get digitally duplicated over and over again and are seen as fandom property, as if they just spontaneously appeared.
I’m not saying people do this maliciously, not at all. I know this is a cultural thing, it’s “just how things are,” and I’m an old man yelling at clouds, but - to me - crediting is a sign of respect and acknowledgement for the effort (and time and money) put in by the original source.
I think it’s important to share and celebrate the op where you can. This is someone who waited outside the Drury Lane stage door to see the gents, took these photos with their own hands, spent their own money to get the prints developed and then took the time to scan them in. 15 years later they shared them here on Tumblr, so that other fans could see them, and reblog them, and share their thoughts. So it does make me a bit sad when people just save them to their phone without a second thought for the actual human behind it.
