It is very interesting that the Nightspring dlc of AW2 referred alan, the stand-in for Dylan in North Star, as "The Brother". At the same time, the code name of the stand-in character for Jesse could easily be just "The Sister", but instead they chose "The Sibling". And the same code name appeared in the trailer for Control Resonant, as the board said "The sibling has gone rouge/fishing."

I mean, they could easily refer to the brother and the sister as, well, "The Brother" and "The Sister" as a match, but instead they chose "The Sibling". There's gotta be something behind it. (Although it is just a Nightspring episode, which was written by Alan and not canon.)

btw the simplified Chinese subtitle actually chose "兄弟姐妹" for "The Sibling", which is a direct translation of "older brother, younger brother, older sister, younger sister." It is super weird.

My pet conspiracy theory is that this is a sort of Tom Zane/Alan Wake situation where paranaturally touched beings see two people as interchangeable (or easily confused) due to some kind of deep connection between the two we don't fully understand yet. Could be a blood connection (I saw someone theorize that Tom is Alan's dad which would be WILD), could be because of time spiral/rhyming history/whatever shenanigans, but regardless, I can see how the Board and Alan would be like. "Yeah this is the role where...a Faden goes. One of those Fadens?? Man IDK which one, the Sibling, the story's the same either way." And so the gender-neutral term is used to just account for One Of Those Two Is In The Big Chair, and because the other one isn't in the big chair, the language is more specific.

Basically, if Dylan had been the Director in this theory, it would be "the Sibling" and "the Sister." And who knows!! Maybe it is that way in one timeline!!! And the Board/Alan knows that and it adds to the confusion. Remedy is probably cooking something, regardless, they usually are. Especially since they've been emphasizing Jesse and Dylan as narrative foils so heavily throughout all the promos for Resonant.
