People say distraction is destruction. But imagine an overthinker who is engulfed with endless time and no distraction. She thinks and thinks and this leads her to destroy her relationships with people and things around her.

Imagine if instead of overthinking, she is distracted by a Netflix show. For 2 hours she doesn’t think about what her husband might be doing leaving her alone at home, she doesn’t think of whether or not her husband loves her, she doesn’t think and start to doubt things around her. She just maintains her calm.

That’s the misconception about distraction. It’s not all bad. It’s just bad if you keep using that as a reason to procrastinate on your tasks. But overthinkers are a different group altogether. Their motivations are different, their mind just wanders. Not once and not twice but constantly. So they need to keep consciously shifting their thoughts. Consistently engage in self pep talk.

I don’t want to overthink anymore.
