Celibacy is OKAY.

It's okay to desire to have a family and be married. 

It's also okay to want to be celibate. 

It's okay to be called to be celibate by God. 

It's perfectly fine to not want to marry or have the desire for a family. 

Don't let the rush of everyone else who wants families and children and husbands and wives make you feel as though you have to desire the same things to be fulfilled in life or to live a happy life. 

God is the ultimate fulfiller. You don't need anything else other than Him. 

He has such great plans ahead for you.

(what I've been learning recently #1)

God is found at the end of ourselves. When we are worn, He becomes our everything. The less we rely on ourselves and past successes, the clearer His presence becomes. Hard times make us feel powerless and therefore allow there to be less of ourselves and more of Him.

Hardship is the fuel of faith. Without the junk we live through, we might never find the need or passion for God.

vegetables and love

Recently my mom was bogged down with the flu and that left me to making the meals in the house. I do not cook - ever - so this was a really great and new experience for me

My mom does not trust me around the kitchen or me around raw food - instead she gave me a bunch of vegetables, told me to wash them and cook them. 

The great thing about cooking vegetables is that you can eat them all raw and they taste just as delicious! Being the queen of documenting everything, I just had to take a few photos of the colourful vegetables before I mercilessly destroyed them on the stove!

My mom is such an example of Christ's love - cooking all my meals without ever complaining about ungrateful children or being tired (I was pretty tired after cooking - not gonna lie!) I just hope that my cooking this one meal while she was sick can reflect the same amount of love that she pours out to me on a daily :)

Sochi 2014 Olympics are just one of the reasons why I am so proud and extremely grateful for the fact that I live in Canada.

Canada is commonly known as “the country above the United States” or the country that loves maple syrup and polar bears and bacon and beer.

Well,

Canada is the country that was united together during a two week period as one nation. Canada is the country who handled controversy and scandal gracefully (as one very dear ice dancing pair did). Canada is the country that bit their nails as our women’s hockey team was down two nothing and then came back in the last few minutes to win the gold in overtime.

Canada is the country that sent its troops to peacekeep in Afghanistan. Canada is the country of those like Romeo Dallaire and Craig Kileburger. Canada is the country where we are free to practice our own traditions and religions and lifestyles. We are free.

Canada is the country with a Prime Minister that bet cases of beer with Barack Obama in regards to the Canada vs. USA hockey games. Canada is home to those such as Alexandre Bilodeau, the moguls athlete who lives his dreams for his brother with cerebral palsy. It is the country of those like Gilmore Junio, a speedskater that gave up his Olympic spot so that his teammate could compete. It’s home to the Canadian coach that went to help the poor Russian skier after they wiped out so that the skier could save part of his dignity. Canada is my country.

Over these past two weeks, I have never felt such a unity amongst a nation and it makes me so proud and blessed to be living in a country as free and patriotic as Canada. We truly are the best nation in the entire world.
