Warnings: Brief mention of a hangover
The Avenger Tower was quiet, once more. No villains were causing havoc to the city of New York. And, to take advantage of this, most of the Avengers had slept in. Though, Steve still got up early for his morning run, along with Sam, while Thor rummaged around in the kitchen for some pop tarts. It was a chilly crisp day, sun shining brightly down on the two runners. While one was content and gleefully running, the other was quite dejected, (having been passed multiple times by the amazingly fast runner.) Sam sighed for the seventh time as Steve ran past him, causally blurting out, “On your left.” He wondered why he kept running with Steve in the morning. Taking a break, Sam leaned against a tree, breathing in deeply and trying to calm his racing heart. Steve comes around the corner, noticing Sam, he slows down and stops beside his running partner.
“You alright?” Steve asks, giving the man in front of him a playful smirk.
Sam nodded, and crossed his arms, crossing his leg over the other as he continued to lean on the tree.
“When are you going to tell him?” Steve abruptly asked, as Sam looked at the other man.
He didn’t anticipate Steve’s sudden question, especially about his crush on Captain America’s best friend, Bucky. Sam, feeling the heat crawl up his neck and ears, looked away from the Super Soldier, and causally shrugged. He wasn’t too good with showing and emitting his feelings. He liked to hide his most inner thoughts and emotions. Knowing it wasn’t too safe to just babble them out in the open, with possible villains running amuck. He did trust Steve, full-heartedly, but even without the dangers lurking, Sam had always been one to hide most of his feelings from others.
And, that’s what made Bucky so special. Sam felt like he could say what he thought, wanted, and dreamed of. He felt so protected and safe with Bucky. He didn’t understand why in the beginning. That’s why he had pushed him away for so long, faking a cold exterior. But, as days, months, and years went on, Sam found it hard to continue, especially when he and Bucky began to get closer. After everything, the Civil War, and Thanos, Sam wanted nothing more than to be by Bucky’s side forever.
What Sam didn’t know, was Steve had known all along. He had always known, and foreseen a blooming friendship, and possible relationship between his two friends. With Sam, it was quite obvious of his feelings for the ex-Winter Soldier. To Steve and everyone else, excluding Bucky, it seemed he was trying too hard to hide his true feelings for the man. Steve knew for a fact, that Sam felt more than just a platonic love for Bucky.
Though, surprisingly enough, Bucky hadn’t noticed it at all. Steve would laugh at the thought of old Bucky back in the forties, being the classic casanova he was, flirting with women at the pubs and bars. He would have dates almost every night, going dancing, and eating at diners. Bucky was very attuned to his romantic self, but years later, he had changed. Rightfully so for what the poor man had gone through. Even after many, many years of that change, Bucky seemed and acted like his old self most of the time, but had become completely oblivious to the ever-growing admiration Sam had for him.
Sam wasn’t alone. Bucky too, had a great admiration of the flying falcon. He, too, had feelings for him. He hid those emotions well, but not well enough it seemed since Steve saw right through them and into Bucky’s soul and saw the growing love for Sam. Steve was impressed, though he hadn’t known it for long, he was surprised how long Bucky hid his feelings away. But, after a while of snooping and sneaking, he and Natasha had seen the way Bucky stared at Sam. They way he spoke to him and even whispered his name when Sam did something amazing.
Steve and Natasha had been planning on trying to get the two together for some time. After many weeks of planning they knew what they had to do. They, and most of the other Avengers, had had enough of the two walking around each other. The longing stares from Bucky to Sam last night at dinner was the last straw. Steve had had enough. He was getting his two friends together, but not without the help of Natasha. Though, what Steve didn’t know was Natasha had a plan brewing as well.
Sam was quiet for a long time, before he finally turned to the man in front of him and shrugged again. He had been found out. How? He wouldn’t know. Maybe since Steve had been in love before, he had been able to see it from a mile away.
“I don’t know when I am going to.” Sam finally spoke up, bringing his hand to rub the back of his neck nervously.
Steve smirked, feeling prideful as he had gotten Sam to come out a bit.
“Well, I think you should tell him.” Steve encourages and Sam automatically shakes his head.
“No way, man. That’s not happening.” Sam exclaimed, and Steve just shook his head and crossed his own arms.
“I think you should.” Sam awkwardly chuckled and Steve just gave a soft smile.
“Come on, let’s go one more lap before heading back, I think Wanda and Vision are making breakfast for everyone today,” Steve said, momentarily dropping the subject, which Sam was very thankful for.
Running their last lap, they headed back to the Tower. Stepping out of the elevator, their senses were filled with the typical breakfast smells. Natasha, Clint, Bruce, Bucky, Peter, and Thor were sitting at the dining room table. Pans and plates clashed in the kitchen, probably Wanda and Vision finishing up the food. Sam took the empty spot next to Bucky as Steve took the one across from him, before joining in on the group’s conversation.
As Wanda and Vision, being the great host’s that they are, passed the plates of food around for everyone. Sam slid two pancakes on his plate, and poured himself some orange juice. Absent-mindedly, Sam poured Bucky a glass of OJ too, Bucky giving him a thankful smile in return. Natasha looked to Steve with an all-knowing smirk, which Steve subtly returned. As the Avengers ate their amazingly cooked breakfast, Loki burst into the room, from his personal room. Everyone looked surprised, they had thought he was still visiting Asgard, and to see his mom. (Yes, she is still alive.)
“Sorry I’m late, I was feeding my cat.” He spoke, before taking a seat beside Steve.
Clint stared at the god with confusion, as most of the others did as well.
“You don’t have a cat.”
Loki shrugged and began to fill his empty plate with pancakes, gently placing five blueberries on top.
“I thought you were still in Asgard, dear brother?” Thor asked, as he drank his coffee.
“I was, but as I said, I was feeding my cat.” Loki spoke, before eating his pancakes.
“Why do you keep talking about feeding a cat? You don’t have one, I’m sure.”
Loki looked at the archer and raised an eyebrow.
The man gulped and looked down at his waffle, before shoveling it in his mouth.
“Wanda, Vision, the food is amazing.” He said with his mouth full.
Loki smirked mischievously, and resumed eating.
Once they all finished eating, Tony and Pepper finally made an appearance.
“Sorry about him, he had a bit too much to drink last night.” She spoke, as Tony gave a salute to the team with shades over his eyes.
“Headache is killer.” He spoke, before plopping onto the empty plush couch in the main room, passing out.
“Well, what are we going to do today?” Peter asked the group, who all seemingly had no idea what to do as well.
“I mean, everything seems safe today, which is odd. But, it's very nice to finally have a break.”
Wanda spoke, sitting beside Vision, whose arm was over her shoulders.
“We could work on some training?”
Natasha suggested, but most of the Avengers shrugged it off or groaned.
“We seem to always train,” Thor whined, bringing his head back to rest against the couch.
“We could go to the zoo?” Bruce also suggested, but the others shrugged in return.
“We have the jet, technically, we can go anywhere,” Clint spoke, but Steve shook his head.
“That jet is only for missions.”
“We could steal a few of Tony’s cars and just drive around?” Bucky spoke up, but Steve shook his head again at the idea.
“Man, you’re no fun.” Sam laughed.
“You guys are terrible at planning,” Loki spoke with arms crossed.
“Oh really, and you do? What should we do that’s fun, Loki?” Sam asked, sort of annoyed, but not fully, he had a small stomach ache from all the food he ate.
Loki scoffed and rolled his eyes.
“I don’t care about your ‘earthly customs,’ and I don’t care what we all do.” He spoke, and Sam rolled his eyes.
“Well, if you all are that bored, I may have an idea.”
A voice spoke, gaining everyone’s attention.
“Y/N? When did you get back?”
Steve asked and the newish Avenger at the elevator shrugged.
“A couple hours, had to see my cat before coming, cat sitters, am I right?” Y/N spoke with a laugh, everyone was very confused.
“I’m confused,” Thor spoke.
“Well, Y/N, nonetheless, what is your idea?” Vision asked and Y/N smiled at the team before pulling out their phone.
“Well, somebody just got a huge raise and wants to use the extra money they had saved up for once in their life and do something fun, and it seems today was the right day to splurge.” They spoke, before sitting down in the empty seat beside Natasha.
“How are you guys feeling about going to a Broadway Musical?” They asked the group, who in turn all smiled and nodded at the idea.
Well, almost all of them.
“I’ve never been to this ‘broadway’ before. Have you, brother?” Thor asked, and Loki sighed.
“No, brother. I have never been. What is it?” Loki asked Y/N.
“Well, people sing and dance and stuff. It’s rather nice.” They explained as Loki and Thor nodded in understanding.
Thor smiled at the idea and gently but loudly slammed his empty coffee cup on the coffee table.
“Let us go to this Broadway. I rather like the sound of it. Brother, you are into plays.”
Loki sighed again, nodding, even though he was full of teenage angst, he did rather like the idea of going to a musical.
“Everyone else on board?” Y/N asked the rest of the team, who all nodded.
“Yes, I haven’t been to a musical in ages,” Wanda spoke, nudging Vision who nodded as well.
“We haven’t since our fourth anniversary.’’
“I think it’s a great idea,” Natasha spoke, with Bruce nodding along with her.
“Ooooooh, I am soooo excited!” Peter exclaimed before turning toY/N.
“What musicals are playing right now?”
Y/N looked at their phone to check.
“Alright, the musicals playing tonight are; Mrs. Doubtfire, The Phantom of The Opera, Aladdin, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Dear Evan Hansen, The Lion King, and Wicked.”
“Hmmm, I like the idea of Moulin Rouge. If it is as good as the movie.” Wanda spoke.
“I love the music from Wicked! I have it saved on my phone.” Clint announced.
“The Lion King sounds good to me,” Thor spoke up, and Loki shrugged.
Vision and Wanda. They have a perfect live and a perfect family. But then she loses control. Her body is taken over by another her. And now she has superpowers. She isn’t perfect anymore.
TLDR: I’m mad they didn’t include vision when they flashed to the alternate Wanda. So here. Also want to explore what happens after she’s given powers. Probably 5-6ish chapters.

Rating: PG/Teen
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x The Vision
Characters: The (White) Vision, Wanda Maximoff, Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, Mentions of Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne
Warnings: Canon-typical action, mentions of previous canon character death
Other: This and the other one-shots I’m doing for this collection are set in my wider Paprika series and most of them take place after my WIP ‘Working Theory’ where the White Vision has reunited with Wanda and they have gotten their children back and have ended up adopting a young synthezoid, Viv. This story takes place in an indetermined time after where Wanda and Vision have rejoined the Avengers.
Summary: What should have been a simple retrieval mission with the other Avengers goes horribly wrong.
The mission was not going as planned. They rarely did but today was going worse than usual. It wasn’t that the team didn’t know what they were doing – while the Avengers line up had changed everyone still knew their role and performed it well. It was just one of those times where the group they were fighting had also done their research.
In a follow up to Billy coming out to Tommy, how would Tommy come out to Billy? Would he even say anything or would he just appear with a boyfriend one day and cackle as Billy’s brain recalibrated?
Thank you so much for the ask! In case anyone wants to read Billy coming out to Tommy here it is. Below this is Tommy coming out to Billy...and Wanda and Vision because I figured the whole family should find out. I hope this meets your expectations of how Tommy would do it!
———
It was supposed to be an escape room. One of the ones where intellect wins and the biggest challenge would have been dealing with a bored and grumpy Tommy. “He is never planning,” Billy twirls around, arms engulfed by pulsating electric blue, and slices a chainsaw wielding robot in half, “again.”
Teddy’s glorious smile tempers his annoyance...marginally. “We are trying to escape,” he crushes a tentacled, monstrous vacuum-like robot between his hands, “and it’s a room.”
If Teddy wasn’t so stunning in situations like these, Billy would seethe for longer, but the sheer elation on his boyfriend’s face as another onslaught falls under their combined might is enough to make it seem a less horrible idea. Until his annoyance at his brother’s idiocy surges back. “This would be Tommy’s idea of a chill evening.”
Expertly Teddy deflects. “Where are they?”
It’s not something Billy had thought about in the ten minutes of endless fighting, but now that Teddy points it out, both Tommy and the newest recruit, David, are not visible. “He’s um,” Billy reaches out mentally, quickly finding the frenzied mind of his brother, the pattern of his thoughts like watching a pot of boiling water right before it bubbles up and over the rim. With practiced ease he latches on, keeping his own mind detached enough to not be dragged into the whirlpool of chaos, “they’re on the other side of that tower.”
“Race you?”
Billy grins, hanging back a second to appreciate the view, and then his hands alight and he rises into the air, body leaning with the current and wrists rotating forwards and backwards as he clears all obstacles from his path. If he allows his eyes to stray down to watch Teddy’s path of destruction, no one’s the wiser, neither Sam nor Carol here to scold him.
Five feet before Teddy reaches the base of the tower, Billy opens a portal, diving headfirst into it and then pops out of a second portal past the makeshift finish line, just in time to paint on his best faux innocent grin. “What took you so long?”
The dry “Congrats,” is made more genuine by the loving kiss that follows.
Tommy’s frantic “David!” ruins their moment.
“Shit.” Billy follows his boyfriend’s eyes up to a little walkway on the tower where David stands, hands gripping a rickety railing and glasses reflecting the menacing lights of the encroaching robot battalion.
Blue energy crawls out from between Billy’s fingers, his body gearing up to fly up and help their teammate, until Tommy sprints over. “I got this,” and then becomes a blur, zigzagging up the ramps and stairs, bowling through the last of the mechanical foes until they all crash down from the tower.
“He’s such a show—“ Billy freezes, head tilting to the side as Tommy scoops up David bridal style and executes a perfect Maximoff rescue, their lips meeting in fevered presses, David’s arms wrapping around Tommy’s neck, and their attention focused solely on passionately celebrating. “Um…”
“I told you David had a small crush on me, right?”
Billy’s brain slogs through recent memories, vaguely recalling this information. “Um...yeah?”
“Guess he moved on.”
“Guess so…” The mind isn’t a computer. Billy knows this, has sat through dad’s lectures on the tired and not empirically backed metaphor, and yet right now he feels like a computer that’s missing a vital update, his thoughts desperately trying to recalibrate and refresh itself to process the awkwardly long make out session in front of him. And then they stop, Tommy placing David back on his feet, though their arms remain around each other, and that’s when his twin starts cackling.
“Look at your face!” If this is some cruel joke, Billy doesn’t appreciate it nor does he appreciate the fact that Teddy is chuckling along with Tommy’s riotous glee. “Look at it.” Now David is snickering as well, the mood apparently contagious to everyone but Billy, who’s inoculated to Tommy’s shit by now.
Tommy hoists David back into arms and runs them down until they’re standing in an awkward sort of square-oval formation. “Oh don’t look like that.”
“I’m not looking like anything.” Real convincing.
“It’s not a joke,” his brother hesitates and then clarifies, “okay, depends on how you define a joke, but the message is real.”
What message was he sending? That he’s learned mom and dad’s celebration tactic? That he likes to catch Billy off guard and embarrass him or that...that he and David are still holding hands and that Tommy’s usual confidence is starting to crack and a spur of fear that never, ever exists in his brother’s mind has cropped up the longer Billy stays silent. All at once Billy’s chagrin disappears, replaced by emphatic happiness, one that manifests with a chuckle at the ridiculousness of his brother.
“Finally connect the dots?”
“Yeah,” Billy pulls his brother into a hug, ignoring the grunt of disapproval at such shows of affection, “thanks for telling me.”
“Of course,” Tommy pulls back wearing the sunniest smile Billy’s ever seen on his face, “had to make sure you knew first.”
A brush of his brother’s mind reveals an evening out of stress and concern, both things Tommy didn’t need to have, but Billy knows firsthand how terrifying coming out can be. “I appreciate it.” Billy steps back, eagerly accepting Teddy’s arm around his shoulders, “You going this elaborate for mom and dad?”
The glance between Tommy and David not only answers his question perfectly, but helps him see the genuine connection they already share and the future trouble of dealing with a mutually devious couple. “I have a few ideas, if you’re willing to help.”
———
Everything is set. There’s a conspicuous rope ladder hanging out his window, the banner is strung up over the table with his cake and party hats, he’s got a box of party poppers under the comforter, and, most vital to it all, David is laying next to him.
“You nervous?”
Insanely. “Nope,” he’s a pretty gifted liar but the little quirk of David’s eyebrow lets him know he isn’t fooling anyone. “Fine, a bit.”
He has, for a long time, made fun of Billy and Teddy’s little reassuring kisses, but now that David tenderly brushes his lips to Tommy’s forehead, he’ll have to admit it’s a little calming. “Me too. This is going to be my first time meeting your parents outside of uniform.”
Oh shit, he hadn’t even thought about that or how awkward this all might be for David. Other than the crushing fear that their acceptance and love can only extend to one child (something he knows is not true but still can’t shake), Tommy has no qualms with the method of coming out they’ve gone with. He thinks back to all the talks (the many many many talks) dad has had with him on respect and consent. Things he has considered and put into practice but it feels way more important now. “If you aren’t comfortable with this…”
“I’m fine, just nervous,” another kiss, but this one on the mouth and exciting instead of soothing, “and really looking forward to the cake.”
It’s a three tiered cake, each layer a different color of the flag, all wrapped in white buttercream, and in the fanciest writing Billy could muster it says: I’m bisexual . They argued over whether to add an exclamation mark, but Tommy himself would like to insert the enthusiasm instead of the frosting doing it. “Me too.”
There is the tell-tale chime of vibranium phasing through a wall and the less easy to spot sound of wind going through his dad’s intangible body. Good thing Tommy has snuck around enough to recognize it. “Come here,” he pulls David closer, deciding if they’re going to have to incur suspicion, might as well have some fun with it. It’s successful, the chiming moving from outside to inside the master bedroom and then footfalls let them know his parents are outside the door. Tommy steals one more kiss, “You ready?”
Except David can’t let him win and sneaks one more. “Are you?”
“Yep.” He is. He has never been more ready in his life which is why it’s aggravating that there hasn’t been a knock and the door hasn’t clicked open. “Be nice if they moved faster.”
From outside there is a muffled conversation, one that sounds like it involves a lot of gesticulating and disagreement. Then he can hear Billy, his guardian angel, chime in, “You can’t let him get away with it. That’s not fair.” What a sly and loving asshole.
Dad sighs, and it’s a deep one, one that means he’s exhausted from his mission and just wants to relax but now there are shenanigans he has to deal with. That’s when the knock comes, followed by, “Thomas?”
David giggles and Tommy does his best to shush him, only that just encourages it further and now Tommy’s sniggering as quietly as he can. “Thomas?” A more forceful knock and more barely subdued laughter. “Thomas, I am opening the door.”
His fingers grip the party poppers as he waits for the light to switch on and then Tommy leaps up with a “Surprise!” The first party popper bursts to life, confetti flying all over his comforter. “I’m bi!” The second popper erupts with even more force.
It’s through the settling confetti that he sees the confusion on mom and dad’s faces and suddenly it all feels too much, too elaborate, too close to a joke. Even Billy’s double thumbs up from the hallway doesn’t allay the dread circling in amongst the swirling shreds of paper. He tracks every movement of his parents’ eyes as they take in the cake and the banner and the streamers and oh...yeah this is awkward, “Um and this,” Tommy helps David out of the bed, “is my boyfriend, David.”
Mom and dad look at each other, some unspoken thing passing between them and then dad walks over to the table, grabs two of the pink, lavender, and blue striped party hats, hands one to mom and then delicately slides the elastic band of his under his chin. “It’s nice to meet you David,” they shake hands and then dad, without asking permission of any kind, wraps Tommy in a tight hug. “I love you.”
This is usually when he squirms away, utilizing his super speed to avoid such displays of affection, but this time he allows it, reciprocating the hug and smiling as mom joins in to make a Tommy sandwich. “We love you so much.”
“Thanks.”
After about a minute it’s a bit much though, something his brother senses, exuberantly declaring, “Anyone want cake?” David, bless his heart, takes on the role of cake slicer and disher, passing out the plates and making sure Tommy gets the corner with the most frosting.
It’s all a bit surreal, a bit too wholesome for his tastes and yet it’s also perfect, mom’s hat askew while dad grimaces at the overly sweet frosting she offers him, Billy chatting happily with David over some punch, all under the handcrafted banner of Guess Who’s Bi?
Tommy smiles, digs his fork into the cake, and joins them, feeling more like himself than ever before.
