Leia frowned looking up at the red skies of Dathomir. Leave, leave, leave, the Force whispered in the back of her mind. Anxiety buzzed almost as badly as it had on Cloud City, when Vader had been lying in wait for them. I’ve got a bad feeling about this, but she knew by now her bad feelings weren’t simply bad feelings. They were warnings. 

“How long do you think it’s going to repair the ship?” she asked, looking back at him. The pale red light washed over everything, it was disorienting. “We should try and get off this planet as soon as possible.”

He’d felt it too. It was in the air. The ground they walked on. And it set him on edge more than usual. Even the slightest noise and his fingers would leave a tool to drop for his blaster. This place was drenched in darkness and it felt as if they stayed much longer, it would swallow them into it. 

“Her tone had lost any of its usual bite. In it’s place there was a soft but insistent plea. Jaw clenched and he swallowed back the nerves raising from the pit of his gut.  “Soon princess Chewie just needs to finish the wiring and then we’re off of this rock.” Or so he hoped. 

“CHEWIE! Let’s get goin’ pal!” He yells, and immediately he hears the indignant howl of a rushed wookie. “I KNOW I KNOW but I don’t wanna be a permanent fixture on this dump!” He could hear sparks and thumps followed by angry growling. That couldn’t be good.

Being a parent was not easy. He stood gazing into the eyes of his daughter. She was filled with so much confidence. Something a little different than the Solo cockiness. She was a strong woman but he couldn’t not see his daughter. His little girl. There was a quiver to his chin and for a few quiet moments his jaw tightened as he attempted to put together just what to say.

Those eyes though…he sighed and smiled at her, putting a hand on her shoulder and pulling her in for a hug. He kisses the crown of her head but lets her go. She needs to know he’s not going to sit and smother her and make her feel like a kid.

“You’re a Solo. And a Skywalker. I know you’re not gonna fail. Just make sure you take care of yourself out there. Don’t be reckless like your old man.” He offers a warm smile, they both know Leia’s said those very things to him time and time again.

Han’s fingers are already adeptly moving over the controls. This was second nature by now. All he needed to know was what to target otherwise he’d begin shooting at whatever came into his path. Before long he’d find something that might blow up and cause a significant amount of damage.  The problem was doing it before Luke and the other teams were taken out. That was the only reason he was out here. To backup Luke.

“Just keep em’ off my tail. The falcon’s got enough firepower to take those out no problem.” He might be cocky, but he knew he could back up his words. He had enough trust in the falcon. “ Just, be careful Kid.”
