Ridge - Roadkill to shelf

I’ve gotten a couple asks about the methods I use to clean bones, so I thought I’d put together a quick summary of the journey of my female Badger, Ridge, from road to shelf. It’s not really a tutorial, but I have almost kind of written it like one - keep in mind this is just Ridge’s personal cleanup journey, and all the steps she went through while being processed (it’s pretty similar for all my roadkill though) It’s a bit garbled and I haven’t really clarified anything… Hm. Maybe I will put together a proper tutorial in the future. For now, this is Ridge~

to elaborate on my updated situation: im back at my old house (parents house) and now im going to be paying a rent. im hoping to get a job soon and im finding ways of making money here and there but i won’t be able to do it alone. my rent is around 100 a month and ive already paid it for this month (plus a meal) but now im kind of broke. im going to be actively searching for ways to get money and every dollar really helps because i’m providing for myself as well this includes meals and such. if you could reblog this that would really help and be greatly appreciated, thank you!

This is a roadkill ca.t I picked up probably almost a year ago. I wish I could remember the exact date but I’m at a loss. He’s a huge Tom, he reminds me a lot of a very small cougar. 

I got his body cleaned down, and while a lot of the pelt wasn’t salvagable, his face was, so I’ll be getting that tanned eventually. Until then, I’ll be cleaning his skull.

 I looked for owners, even asked the people who’s house I found him in front of if they knew him. I’ve had him for almost a year which is well past the state of unrecognizable remains, so I felt it was okay to start working on him.

Also yes, He is sitting in a crock pot. You can lightly simmer bones and skulls to remove flesh. This is a really small, low heat crock pot that he was only in for a few hours. He’ll be okay.

I’ll be posting his skull as soon as it’s clean in comparison to my other cats.

His name will likely be Rufus, but I’ll call him The Mountain as a nickname.
