So I rewatched monstrosity (again) and had a thought.

Since doc Wyatt has confirmed that Rusty’s master was in fact an ancestor of Kai’s, I wonder if part of why Rusty was so eager to help and so to loyal to Kai was because of how much he saw a fallen friend in him. I wonder if he saw familiarity in Kai’s eyes, if they were the same eyes his master had. I wonder if Kai slipped down his mask and Rusty saw the dimple of a fallen man when Kai frowned. I wonder if Rusty saw brown hair peaking out of Kai’s hat that looked just like that of his master’s. I just wonder if it was more than fire that Rusty saw within Kai that was so familiar. I wonder if in Kai he saw a master, a friend, and a second chance at protection. After all, he won’t fail another fire wielder.
