How many times did Chuck hit pause to meddle while watching John?

You know, that thing he always claimed he didn’t do, when in reality he’s been pulling strings and moving pieces across the board at his whim? All those times John was hunting “the thing that killed Mary” and got so close, how many times did Chuck purposefully rip that away for the sake of pacing.

How many times did Chuck plant errant thoughts into Dean’s head?

You know, the ones that break his concentration while dealing with a problem and make him feel like the only choice he ever has is to sacrifice himself? How many times did Chuck use Dean’s own mind against him, touching the right buttons and pulling the strings of Dean’s impatience to create conflict.

How many times did Chuck smile, realizing Sam is really gonna like this girl?

You know, the ones he has damned because what story isn’t complete without a little romance, but not too much, because that would muddle the big picture?
