the woman knew it seemed weird. she knew a normal person in this place wouldn’t get so excited about rain, but for rosita, it still felt like some wonderful memory. some wonderful reminder that they could still survive this, no matter the odds. she found a place out of the way and sat, looking up at the sky with a rare grin etched onto her battle-hardened face.

sawyer had glanced out the window, quite amused by the girl outside; rain was a peaceful calm, it felt nice against the skin. wanting desperately to get in on the action. slowly making her way outside in hopes to enjoy the ran with her. “rain is so nice sometimes...”

“i guess it’s not easy--- not yet.” lips turning down as she spoke. “life is already hard without thinking about how much of an asshole you were.” so many emotions were hitting her all at once. “i know we’re both trying to get this--- tragic memory, which seems impossible. i feel like you being there will forever be ingrained in my mind.” speaking as candidly as possibly. “i really wish it wasn’t as hard to look at you without every emotion in the book hitting me ALL at once.”

a laugh escaped the blonde’s pink lips, it bubbled out of her, impossible to keep inside. with the other girl CLEARLY looking angry, it was easy. maybe it wasn’t the BEST idea to bring her for froyo. “i’m so---- sorry!” having accidentally knocking some whipped cream on her jacket. “i know you weren’t interested in any of this? but---- come on, if there weren’t people around--- we could totally have a YOGURT FIGHT!” maybe it was possible for them to do something the other wanted to do. “okay---- i know, it was a DUMB IDEA, only because it’s so cold. maybe we should get HOT CHOCOLATE after this? unless you wanted to do something? you can choose something, too!”

Bouncing back on his heels, he replied simply, “ Of course. ” He nodded his head just a bit as well, making sure she understood that he cared for her. He barely knew what she’d been through, but he was a gentleman, a hero, and heroes cared, no matter what. She had a safe space, a spot in his heart. Jess has a spot too, he reiterated to himself, keeping his arms crossed but his face and everything else softening. The thought of the other blonde - the one he too had saved, the one who had always been there - almost made Vav feel guilty for liking someone else. For the most part he had moved on from Sawyer, thought little of her and only saw her in people that passed by him too quickly to get a good look at. And, well, he was still where he was before she walked through his life’s door again - he still had Jess, Jess still helped him name his rabbit, and Jess still had the little heart emoji next to her name and his actual heart in his hands. To hear that she understood, no matter how vaguely, made him feel even guiltier. “ I’m the lucky one, really. I don’t mean t’ sound self-depricatin’, but I really don’t know what she sees in me. ” It was a weird anxiety thing the Brit had gotten going early on in his courting of his girlfriend, the constant thought of When is she finally going to see that I’m really not all that special and bolt? no matter how many times she reassured him she was here to stay.

despite the sadness that enveloped his words, sawyer smiled. it wasn’t a wide smile, just a small subtle smile. to indicate her pleasure in trusting her with this. sawyer was WEAK when it came to relationships. gav was sorta lucky to NOT pursue her. really he had dodged a metaphorical bullet. going for someone else, someone probably FAR stronger than she, was for the best. for both of them. sawyer was strong, but not with males. all she did was BREAK HEARTS or STAY with jerks. always the same. like a song on repeat. 

“we all have insecurities---- you have a right to be worried, but don’t be too hard on yourself. maybe she has the SAME feelings? you just gotta---- express it, maybe not with words? words are---- hard. sometimes actions speak louder than words.” why did her advice sound so great, yet she never USED it herself. “communication is KEY in any relationship--- talk to her. don’t let your own insecurities bury something great. and, i’m sure it is. i taint everything i touch, seeing how you felt--- i already ruined you without knowing it. i am so sorry---- but you’re going to do great. i promise--- just breathe, sometimes it’s shaky in the beginning.”

Not a lot of people have a goddamn superhero living in their apartment complex, Vav reminded himself, the thought actually getting a bitter sort of smile out of him. But he wiped it off before replying, back still to her, “ Y’er important to me.” Much less than you used to be, but still important. Sawyer was one of the first girls here who’d ever given him the time of day, and he had a really soft spot for her. Like a bruise, almost - if he pressed against it and held, it’d begin to throb and ache. So he did his best to not touch it, at least until she showed up at his door. “ I uhm- ” He didn’t mean to get so bashful all of sudden, but he thought, why not ?? “ If you had asked me that before you left, I would’a jumped at the chance. ” Crossing his arms over his chest, he turned back to face her, knowing his face was pink, feeling the heat around his eyes. “ Vav. Uhm - Gav. Gavin. The name’s Gavin. ”

“i am?” surprised, a little relief taking over her whole person. it made her feel a little less alone in this universe. although, jude was here, to keep her even MORE homesick than before. sawyer had her FAIR share of suitors, and although, he was not someone she THOUGHT OF OFTEN, she did like him. he was protective and nice. someone she’d NEVER really expect to have as an... anything.   not really surprised by his answer. of course, he probably had someone, and she was OKAY with this. why would anyone want someone with such a backstory? nothing about it was WORTH IT. not even for this sweet british man who was also a superhero. whoever had CAUGHT his eye was lucky. “gavin---” sawyer actually managed to smile over at him, “whoever she is--- she’s lucky. the luckiest.”

“i don’t know---- i’ve lost count of the months? it’s been--- quite awhile.” trying her best not to be as vague. however, it was impossible to really know. could time be different where she was at back in her former life? their former universe? “i think--- that’s probably best? you’re lucky--- you know, to see your mom like this? in a way where she doesn’t know you? really observe?” sawyer admired jude’s decisions. she, herself, had not seen his mother yet. though she was dying to catch a mere glimpse of BROOKE DAVIS. “how could she not love you, though? could be a little intense--- but, i hope it goes well.”

“ Bloody hell … ” He didn’t want to show just how angry the statement had made him, so he fully turned away, back to Sawyer’s front, and squeezed his hands into fists. This was fine, they’d be fine. She was safe, or safer, he supposed, now that they were together again. Vav could protect her here, don the cape and boots without a second’s hesitation to make sure her weird crazy ex didn’t get anywhere near her. “ Well, at least you’re here with me now. I can actually keep you safe while you’re here.  ” Because that was the other part of the reason why he was angry at her leaving - she disappeared and left him worrying that the next time he’d see her was on the news; he couldn’t protect her while she was gone. “ We’ll just have to be a bit more careful when we go out at night. ” He didn’t mean for that so sound so intimate, but it was all ready out in the open.

“oh----” her features softened at how sweet this gentleman was. “how--- after all this time? you’re still the sweetest person i’ve ever met in my ENTIRE LIFE?” even while she was gone sawyer never expected ANYONE to remember her. or even her story. “i’m not even an important person? just a stupid girl with a really keen interest in LOVE & ROMANCE.” lips tugged up, it was a sad sort of smile. “are--- are you planning on asking me out on a date--- or just a general thing?” confusion painted her face slowly. not that she didn’t think it was a good idea. it was. he was cute and she was pretty down on love. “if that’s going to happen i should probably learn your name?”

And gave you my address. ” The only thing she didn’t know was his real name. The Brit supposed, in the end, it was better that way. “ I’m not angry, Sawyer. I’m just - ” Well, no, he was angry, just not at her. The situation they ended up in was making him angrier with every passing moment. Because who was she to show up at his apartment after ghosting for months, and expect everything to be okay ?? “ I don’t know what I am, ” he muttered, turning away from her. “ Do we still gotta worry about the weirdo ex ?? ” he asked, trying to most on to a different topic. Do I still gotta worry about the weirdo ex? was the real question, because god, he’d do anything to keep her safe and happy.

damn, was he going to SAY IT? disappointed? each moment her orbs starred into his was torture. how could she have done this? her ONE ally? and here she was, already screwing up like ALWAYS. “i---” not wanting to DAMAGE this any further with her BIG MOUTH. instead sawyer watched intensely to try and keep it together. it was asked. of course this SUPERHERO asked about HIM. he who should not be named? sawyer’s literal VOLDEMORT in every situation. letting the air out of her lungs; it felt like her lungs were filled with dark smoke, chocking her to death. “he--he DISAPPEARED just before he was being CARTED off to jail.” why was SAWYER’S life made up really wild LIFETIME MOVIE scenarios? “i don’t know? i don’t know where he is?” suddenly starting to REALIZE her luck. the blonde’s says were NUMBERED. with him out there, he’d find her, with the intention to kill. “i--- don’t know what to do? i’m trying to have fun before--- he comes.”
