quick story once my English teacher had a slightly off and very religious borderline radical Christian student that fell asleep during class once, and there was one atheist girl in the class

so when he fell asleep, all the students except the atheist left their backpacks and jackets on their chairs and left the room

and the kid woke up and started to panic, looked over and saw the atheist girl reading a book, still in the classroom

she turned the page, returned his glance, and said “Hey.”

and the kid freaked the fuck out because he sincerely thought he missed the rapture

imho the biggest indication that Rey isn't making up the "story" of being abandoned on Jakku is that characters who make up stories usually TELL those stories to the audience. And there is usually some detail that gives it away that its likely untrue. Rey only tells BB8 that she's waiting for her family and that's it. She never tells Han or even Finn why she has to get back to Jakku. We are shown the ship leaving her behind, in a vision filled with things we know to be true...

It’s called Johnson just wanted as many references and shocking moments. I’m tired of everyone saying TLJ was so original. It’s more of a copy than people called TFA.

Dark side apprentice kills his master? Vader did that to Palpatine.Dark sider offers hero to join them and rule the galaxy? Vader did it.Heroes are being chased by the bad guys in space? Empire did it. Hero meets an old master who is a shell of their former self? Empire did it.Hero tells the villain they are conflicted? ROTJ, ROTS, and TFA.Mentor dies sacrificing himself so the heroes can get away? It was done in the fucking 70’s.

Here’s what TLJ did that no other SW movie did before it:

Kept our trio completely separated for no reason and didn’t develop any of its characters.Radically contradicted all of SW lore just to throw those contradictions out the window in the end.Took the protagonists out of the final confrontation for no reason.Introduced subplots that went nowhere while ignoring subplots that the previous film set up.Have none of the heroes or villains earn anything in the story. Make an actual 2 and a half fucking filler movie that makes The Phantom Menace look like The Dark Knight.

TLJ is just Empire Strikes Back with the Battle of Hoth at the end instead of the beginning. There’s nothing even slightly original about it, except that it’s a terrible movie and ESB isn’t.

TLJ is not original, it’s UNIQUE. Yeah, the Canto Bight side quest was purely filler and it does follow the same shit as Empire but it still develops characters, breaks Star Wars tropes and offers interesting prespectives from both villains and the heroes.

People may be right when they shit on TLJ, but people who defend it may also be right. That’s how art works, even for something as “terrible” as TLJ.
