it's not crazy to say that the only thing stopping a lot of "average" men from living an epstein lifestyle is resources. I think it's not crazy to say that. I don't think every man is like that nor do I think it's innate to anyone, but in a patriarchal society it is exactly the kind of dynamic that would be the peak of masculinity which is why sex traffickers like andrew tate get so popular. differentiating from this ideal is even shamed. If Sabretooth does manage to get a solo again I hope it isn’t Frank Tieri writing him, like Tieri had written Victor a lot, i guess it’s why editorial shoved Sabretooth onto Tieri but not for the better. I can’t really say I cared about Ruins of Ravencroft Sabretooth or The Dead Don’t Talk, the latter being bad. Those two book of Tieri feel so early 2000’s, and not in a good way, it somehow feels more watered down than his weapon x book. His writing style hasn’t really improved since then or provided much meaningful or impactful depth to the character of Sabretooth.

I think Tieri’s Weapon X book was alright, had its moments for Victor characterization, but it is just there lol, I enjoyed his brief appearance in the Greg Rucka run of Wolverine more which wasn’t even long haha. I like that showing of his insecurity, and to quote The Sopranos “man is driven by insecurity”, which was what Return of the Native arc leaned in heavy on for Victor.

Also I feel Brevoort, or whoever gives writers the go ahead to write a comic, just… didn’t understand the success of Sabretooth’s Krakoa books, and the Tieri book being a flashback (which, sure I can get why it had to be a flashback comic, since he’s current dead for real lol) comic is another demonstration of the rest of current x men (or until Shadows of Tomorrow starts) going backwards in time than forward.

worth noting that virginia giuffre, a noteable epstein victim, was first abused by a close family friend and her own father (who she also claimed accepted payments from epstein), and a lot of sex trafficking starts at home--it's not a kidnapping in a van situation, these girls are already vulnerable to abuse. they have already been stripped of autonomy. the stranger danger narrative has done immeasurable damage to abuse prevention

let's not forget how racism plays into these narratives either--qanon is always touting a sex trafficking narrative of 'white girl kidnapped by cartel' when in reality it's their own family, friends, etc at fault...you can't ignore reality forever

and at the end of the day csa is an issue in patriarchy that is not isolated by race or class. that's why right wing "traditional values" always include stripping women and children of bodily autonomy. this is something that needs to be maintained by force, because it is not natural, no matter how many people try to claim it is. if it was natural it would not lead to prolonged physical and psychological damage.

hey sabreheads I screen recorded the video for the x men 97 trailer on twitter but only shows Victor here for the few frames and seconds he’s on screen and big question does this small clip with Sabretooth here have any similarities to what happens in the x men comics? or can we just figure it’s a new made up thing for the show?

Wonder what that could mean for him like idk where he can go after Sabretooth War assuming he doesn’t go through another inversion (I’d rather not see that actually) also the clothes visible remind me of the dead don’t talk comic (😐) but that probably doesn’t mean much
