Does Seattle run any blues dance events besides Rain City? We're thinking of visiting Seattle and the summer and wondering if anything will be going on then.

Nope, Seattle doesn’t currently have any other weekend-long blues dance events. There are weekend workshops on fairly regular basis from various teachers, but your best bet there is to check closer to the time when you’ll be here.

how can I learn more about blues dancing manners as I am a newbie from SF and our customs might be different? i.e. is it okay for me as a "switch" to invite someone to dance and ask if I may be follower first? Best wishes, Dancing Red Hot

When I ask someone to dance, I try to make clear whether I want to lead, follow, or switch (or I ask them if they have a preference). If someone asks me to dance without specifying, I ask which part they’d like to dance. That’s all completely acceptable, even encouraged.

It’s also definitely okay for people dancing any role to ask other people to dance.

Yeah, yeah, it’s a little behind. :-) But! It’s exciting! The dances are now:

- Third Monday, Blueshift in Wallingford

- Every Tuesday, Burn Blue in Queen Anne (NEW VENUE!)

- Every Friday, Blues Underground in Capitol Hill
