A systematic campaign of hate and intimidation against Seattle's Jews

From cafes and storefronts with innocuous seeming Palestinian flags and "free Palestine" signs to graffiti calling on people to "kill your local Zionist/colonizer," the Jews of Greater Seattle are facing a systematic, city-wide campaign of bullying and intimidation that makes it painful and at times frightening for us to participate fully in life here.

The signs, posters, stickers, and graffiti messages we post here are just the tip of very large iceberg.

If you see something, take a photo. Then cover it up or take it down. Talk to the management at your local coffee shop with the Palestinian flag up and leave a note for your neighbor with the "free Palestine" sign in their window; especially if their signs and posters come in the absence of any other more nuanced commentary on the conflict.

Say something. And then tell us so we can signal boost your words.

The "hateful zionist symbols" is literally just judaicia. According to them, a shofar, torah, menorah, etc are hateful zionist symbols.

At this point just say jew, we all know you mean jewish symbols when you say "hateful zionist symbols" at least have the balls to say it with your whole chest

You all need to understand that to these types of people there is literally no aspect of Judaism that is acceptable. Our entire religion, culture, and language is fair game to be denigrated as "Zionist". The only acceptable thing is for us to disappear.

It’s not just you.

But it will be a different kind of pogrom from the ones we’ve known - just like war is different now thanks to the Internet.

This pogrom will be more stochastic and diffuse, and the goal won’t be to drive us out or murder us all like the Nazis or the Russians did.

It will be more Squirrel Hill-style attacks designed to keep us all cowed and silent.

Arming ourselves for defense seems prudent.

Why is Garfield High School like this? It might be the four houses within two blocks of the campus that have Palestinian flags up. (Literally no direction you can walk from Garfield without coming across a house with ProPal flags or propaganda up.)

Jewish Garfield students must be so exhausted.

The IDF is a professional military and professional militaries do not violate international law by attacking hospitals.

The IDF attacks Hamas. If the IDF bombs a hospital, it's because Hamas was using it for operations, weapons caches, or both. (Either that or it would be a horrific mistake; but so far the only horrific mistakes damaging hospitals we've seen have been from misfired terror rockets.)

Also, calling the IDF Israeli terrorists is... next level hatefulness. The IDF is imperfect and war is hell - but terrorism is the intentional targeting of civilians and 100% of the institutional culpability for that lands on Hamas.

Okay, look - humans are migratory animals and we generally have a right to freedom of movement.

That being said, there's no rational way to criticize the Israelis for strenuously guarding the borders. You don't have a leg to stand on if you can't acknowledge that every wall they've built has been a response to decades of invasions and terror attacks.

We're the first to agree with the message, but not with symbols of Palestinian nationalism in the mix.

Not while calls for unilateral ceasefire and depriving Israel of essential military tools are also all over the place.

Keep in mind that this on its own wouldn't be a big deal. Its presence is only a problem in the aggregate of the constant obsessive focus on Israel.
