“ Oh, wow! That’s really cool. So chance brought you to Clarendon Hills? Yeah, you know what, I can very much see this town’s charm. It’s been a couple days and it’s sweet, it’s nice. I like it. There’s this little bakery and it’s run by this lovely lady, I’m sure you know it, yeah. We’ve been getting our coffees there, felt very welcomed. Oh, I love a good Christmas market. Let’s hope there’ll be some proper snow here for that, some mulled wine. I think we’ll definitely stay long enough to experience that. ”

“I think that’s a pretty cool story. Alexa Chung? I love Alexa Chung. I’m a big fan of her fashion collections. A genius among us. Did you ever get to talk to her? And most importantly, how did she like her avocado toast? Wilmette. I do know it. What a nice little town. I’ve never been, though. So you live in New York, grew up in Wilmette and you’re now in Clarendon Hills. Interesting. You spot a new face around here very easily. You’re visiting family?”

“ I do have to admit, and I hope you won’t lynch me for it, I don’t know much about her fashion. I know of her and I hear she’s amazing, but that’s about it. Alexander McQueen I can still say a little bit about, but that’s about where my pool of extensive fashion knowledge has its deep end. I never actually talked to her, no, but.. I’d like to say we noticed each other and there was a friendly smile every other morning. It’s lovely up there, yeah, really nice. And that’s about my life’s story. Ah, not really, no. Just thought we’d check out the roots for a little bit. What about you? You from here, what’s your story? ”

“I’ve actually had the pleasure of meeting him two years ago at a charity gala in New York. He was very polite and we even had a small chat. He told me this endearing story about his grandchildren, it was really interesting because I get what you mean by that. As I was talking to him I couldn’t quite grasp he’s real. Haven’t felt that about many people, but he’s very down to earth. Agreed. Are you from here?”

“ Ah, no way, that’s so cool. In New York, I live there. Well, I’m not doing much living there at the moment, but I still got an apartment. You do meet some interesting people over there. Alexa Chung lived quite close to where I am, so we used to bump into each other getting avocado on toast or whatever else New Yorkers are obsessed with at the moment at our bakery. Your story sounds cooler, though. Ah, no. But I’m also not from New York, just went for college. Still an Illinois boy. Wilmette, just North of Evanston, you heard of it? My brother was born here, though. ”

“Thank you, it’s very appreciated. I’ve only heard good things about it, so I don’t have trouble trusting you on that. Stranger or not, it must be good if you’re paying to see it again. I also love seeing Malkovich. He’s got something about him. He’s also very nice in real life, so that helps. I’ve wanted to see it back in August, but it was harder than I thought to find someone to come with me but better later than never.”

“ He’s very nice in real life? As in, you figure that because you watch every interview of his and have him all mapped out or did you have the pleasure of actually meeting the guy? He just feels like a bit of a legend. A myth, I’d even go as far as saying. Yeah, absolutely. Plus you have the benefit of an emptier theater, which I personally think is always a plus. ”

“Hey. Oh. Really? Mona, do you still have the tic– Oh. You’re right. Sorry, we confused the rows. Thank you, that’s too kind. I also doubt it. The lady at the box office didn’t even know they’re still playing the movie. Are you sure? Would be no problem to switch. ”

“ Absolutely. Really no problem. Not going to make you ladies get up and do the movie theatre shuffle for no reason. Yeah, I’m guessing everyone who was going to go see it already has. I’ve actually already seen it myself, yeah. But.. this guy hasn’t. So here I am again. Not to say you should trust a stranger’s movie taste, but it’s good. Malkovich is incredible, as usual. Fantastic guy. ”
