Jehan pulled his cap further down on his head as he walked into the bar, collie leashless at his side. The poet gripped a journal in his free hand, and was quick to make a sweep around the room with his eyes, and find an empty spot to occupy. Drawing idly on the table with his fingers, he glanced up as he was approached, and he offered a genuine smile.
"Hello," he piped. "What can I do for you?"
//sorry folks, was out all day :) I'll put up starter convos tomorrow! Or you guys can do one, I don't mind c:

Grantaire allowed himself to smile a bit wider. He slowly rubbed his thumb over Jehanās, a comforting gesture. āOf course, Jehan,ā he replied, the smile still playing on his lips. He kept his hand in Jehanās. āAnything for you.ā
Jehan placed his head in his hand, smiling sweetly at the other. "You're far too kind, mon cher," he said softly, watching the way his thumb moved over the back of his hand. He took another drink of his beer, eyes meeting the other's. "It's weird, I've never talked about this with someone. Other than Joly, of course."

Bahorel smiled and held out his newly-tattood right hand to shake Jehanās and grinned his crooked grin, āHello friend. What might your name be?ā
Jehan took the offered man's hand, shaking it firmly. "I'm Jehan," he offered softly. "Prouvaire." he admired the other's tattoos, eyes roaming over them. "And you are?"

Grantaire shook his head and reached across the table, placing a hand over Jehanās and squeezing gently. āWe arenāt looking at you differently, Jehan,ā he said quietly. āYour cancer is not what defines you, and we know this. You will not be looked at differently by us, because you are our friend after all.ā He then smiled a bit. āYouāre always going to be our little flower.ā
Jehan bit his lower lip as Grantaire squeezed his hand, and he felt himself blush softly, looking down. He shifted in his seat, and he let out a long breath. "I--Thank you, Grantaire," he said softly, looking back up at him slowly. He cleared his throat, his free hand running through his hair. He squeezed the other's hand, and smiled wider, offering a little laugh. "I really appreciate this."

Jehan glanced up, and he shoved his hands into his pockets, nodding towards the two. "Hello, strangers," he offered, reaching down to pet the collie at his heels lightly. "What can I help you with today?" he asked cheerily, rocking on his heels.

"Well," Grantaire began, his eyes on Jehanās finger that drew patters on the table. "Joly, of course. Combeferre, as well, and Courfeyrac. He told Enjolras, but Enjolras hasnāt told any of the others." He looked at Jehan again.Ā
Jehan groaned, thanking the waitress as the beers were delivered. "So most of them know," he said finally. "So much for keeping this a secret," he grimaced, taking a long drink of his beer. "I didn't want this to get out. Shit, I mean, I was fine with Doctor Joly knowing, because he's been my doctor for a whole now, and that's how I met all you guys. But I didn't want this to be what..Defined me. The cancer. I didn't want people to look at me differently.

Grantaire sat across from Jehan and smiled warmly. He drummed his fingers on the table for a second as he thought. āJust a beer is fine, thank you.ā He replied after a moment. He normally had something harder, but he wanted to stay sober in order to have a normal conversation with Jehan.
Jehan raised two fingers, calling out an order of two beers, and he smiled back over at the other. "So, Grantaire," he hummed lightly, index finger drawing idle patterns against the wood of the table. "Who else of our friends know?"

Grantaire watched him, silent, listening as Jehan spoke. He gave him a smile, a genuine one which didnāt happen as often as he would like. āI know, Jehan,ā he replied softly, placing a hand on Jehanās shoulder and squeezing gently. āYouāre still you, Iām aware. And I wonāt treat you any differently, I never planned to.ā
Jehan offered a more genuine smile, and he grinned wide. "Good," he nodded his head, shifting on his toes. "Now come sit down, and I'll buy you a drink," he piped, moving to an open table, Keats sitting down at his heels. "What do you want?"

Grantaire raised an eyebrow, looking at Jehan. He sighed a little and looked away again, slightly ashamed, though he wouldnāt admit it. āDespite the fact I know, I didnāt come because of my knowing.ā He said firmly, leaning against the wall with his arms folded over his chest and his eyes on Jehan. āI came because I wanted to see you. This isnāt a sympathy thing where I felt like I had to see you. I wanted to see you.ā
Jehan offered a small smile, finishing off the beer. "Thank you," he offered. "I'm happy to see you, R. Really. It's just that...You don't have to look at me like that, okay?" he tilted his head. "I'm still me, y'know. Nothin's changed," he promised, standing up and running a hand through his hair. "Promise me you won't treat me any different. I don't want people to treat me different."

Grantaire finally looked at him and managed a smile. āIām doing alright,ā he replied as he took the bottle from Jehanās hand and took a sip. He handed the beer back silently.
Jehan let out a little groan, rubbing his face roughly. "Look, I know that you know, okay," he said finally. "Dunno if doctor Joly told you or what, but I can tell when people know. And it's not a big deal, okay?" he glanced back up at the other. "I'm okay. And I'll continue to be okay."

He entered the room quietly, standing next to the other. He nodded slightly at the greeting, his eyes on the wall behind the other. āNothing,ā he responded quietly. āThereās nothing that you can do for me, Iām simply seeing how you are.ā
Jehan frowned a bit at the comment, straightening himself up. "I'm doing wonderful," he insisted, patting the side of Keat's head. "Splendid, in fact, and you?" he took a long sip of his beer, offering it out to the other to drink.Ā

"Bonjour," the petite man crooned lightly, spinning around in his chair to face the man who had approached him. He reached down to pet the collie's dog lightly, meeting the man's eye. "What can I do for you, mon ami?"

Jehan Prouvaire; Terminal Cancer AU
They say that the worst things happen to the best people, and that's what had happened to Jean Prouvaire, the twenty-one year old romantic. Nothing had seemed to be wrong, until the headaches had started. When he had managed to drag himself into the hospital, and be introduced to an oncologist (Doctor Joly), Jehan had stage-four brain cancer. Given the choice between two-to-three years hooked up to a machine, or a year and a half free, it was no wonder which option he chose.Ā
With his special-ability dog, Keats, at his side, able to alert him of any oncoming seizures (an unfortunate side effect), Jean had found himself able to live a rather regular life. And yet, he can't seem to stop himself from meeting people, and befriending them. He didn't want them to hurt, but that seemed inevitable.Ā
In love with life, and all the people in it, Prouvaire had gotten the unfortunate end of the stick.
