jessmatt: a summary
Rick: created the series specifically to represent an underprivileged group, adds more diversity with every book, listens to fans and critics in an attempt to make his books as true to life as possible, is doing his damnedest as a cishet white man to represent as many people he can, commissioned other authors to write stories based on their own cultures' mythology bcs its not his place to write about that, is genuinely doing his best
Y'all, bcs reyna wasn't a canon lesbian: god is he even trying? smh
I want you all to know that an Arab Muslim from Tunis proposed the Theory of Evolution near 600 years before Charles Darwin even took his first breath. Don’t let them erase you.
his name is Ibn Khaldun
Also, it was not the apple falling from a tree that made Issac Newton “discover” gravity. He was reading the books of Ibn Al Haytham, an Arab Muslim from Iraq, who pioneered the scientific method, discovered gravity and wrote about the laws governing the movement of bodies (now known as Newtons three laws of motion) some 600 years before Newton existed. Without him, modern science as we know it wouldn’t exist. Read on him. His achievements are far greater than what I’ve just mentioned here.
#no offense but arabs literally invented chemistry and algebra and we came up with the concept of the camera #the cataract operation that’s still practiced today was invented by an Arab #we created alchemy and the wright brothers used abbas ibn firnas’ findings and writings to build on to create a plane #I could go on and on and on #pls don’t erase our scientific history
As a arab person from Tunesia this pleases me.
Ok, look. Yes Arabs made some great and important contributions to knowledge and science. As did other non-Europeans. But let’s not distort or over simplify things. Yes, people had the idea of animals changing from one type into another before. Heck Charles Darwin’s own grandfather wrote some about it. And yes, Ibn Khaldun wrote on it, along with many other topics. Like some of the ancient Greeks, he was all over the place. But here is part of what he wrote about it:
One should then take a look at the world of creation. It started out from the minerals and progressed, in an ingenious, gradual manner, to plants and animals. The last stage of minerals is connected with the first stage of plants, such as herbs and seedless plants. The last stage of plants, such as palms and vines, is connected with the first stage of animals, such as snails and shellfish which have only the power of touch. The word ‘connection’ with regard to these created things means that the last stage of each group is fully prepared to become the first stage of the newest group. The animal world then widens, its species become numerous, and, in a gradual process of creation, it finally leads to man, who is able to think and reflect. The higher stage of man is reached from the world of monkeys, in which both sagacity and perception are found, but which has not reached the stage of actual reflection and thinking. At this point we come to the first stage of man. This is as far as our (physical) observation extends.
Not exactly correct, nor even particularly detailed. And he offers nothing like the idea of natural selection/survival of the fittest to explain how/why those changes occured. Darwin examined things very closely, compiling a lot of data to show his work, and offered not only the observation, but a theory to explain how the observation came about, and offered the ability to predict things, which could then be tested.
I am not sure about laws of motion and gravity, I am not finding many references to him working on that. Certainly some other Arabic scholars did in the time before Newton, and they did things like disprove Aristotle’s idea that constant force produces uniform motion. Again though, this work was an early stage, and lacked the full articulation and detail of Newton’s work. They made important contributions, and without them, later advances in thought and knowledge would likely have been made at different times and places, by different people. But it wasn’t the case that they figured out exactly the same things that Newton and Darwin did, but then were totally forgotten and erased.

no mercy small fucker
After all this time fighting, the little guy and his enemy realized that it was all pointless. Since the beginning, the hate for each other had only make them stronger but by accepting their differences and learning to respect each other, they realized that they don’t have to keep being rivals, but perhaps something else.
even if their relationship may have started badly, the strong bond between them will last forever, by helping each others with what they lack and learning to accept that even if people have difference it would only make a world a more interesting place to be c:
Just the happy ending I needed
okay the last time i saw this it ended at the workout this is awesome
Okay happy ending we’re done now!
Let him be happy!
