Pregnancy is stressful.

I’m 25 weeks. At my anatomy scan (20 weeks), doc found a mass in baby’s belly and referred us to a specialist. Specialist saw us at 23 weeks and isn’t sure what the mass is. He gave three possibilities and referred us to a larger hospital. We go next week for an MRI, fetal echocardiogram, and ultrasound in addition to touring the NICU and meeting with four doctors (maternal fetal medicine, pediatric surgeon, pediatric radiologist, and neonatologist).  

It looks like baby might need surgery after birth. Trying to keep my emotions in check knowing it could be worse, but not knowing for sure what it is is brutal.

I scrolled through my blog and noticed I have a habit of being active on here in the summer but radio silence during the school year.

Last summer I wrote a list of random thoughts like this, and I talked about my new teammate being lazy. Foreshadowy. She got fired.

I could go on and fucking on about how annoyed I am with my closest teacher friend/teammate. Short version: she is unwilling to meet with our new team the week before school starts. We get a paid work day and she isn’t coming. We are the only two members returning from last year, and two of our new teammates are brand new babies. I told her I’m pissed she isn’t being a team player and she said she’s pissed that I’m pissed so that’s where we are. 

School starts in two weeks. July 26th.

I am flying to my sister’s on Friday to take care of her three kiddos while she goes to Hawaii. Why did I agree to this the week before school starts?

MO and I are planning to start trying for babies this fall. Absolutely crazy for me to think about (although we are 30 and have been together since we were 17!). It’s been a big item of discussion for years now. MO originally wanted to wait till we’re 35 but we negotiated. Or compromised. Whatever. 

I want to move. A big, out-of-state move. MO and I are on the same page about this, but the timing is ambiguous. Big thoughts. We even thought about waiting till we have kids and then starting to move around till they are school age. Six months here and a year there to figure out where we want to settle. I am scared that I will wake up one day and we’ll be old and I’ll realize we missed our chance.

Our CHO sent an email suggesting we wear “ a sombrero or other Mexican hat” today. Sent an email to HR and had a meeting with them that resulted in nothing. They said it’ll be a learning experience but they won’t retract the email and for today I’ll have to be the “bigger person and take it with a grain of salt” but it won’t happen next year. I wore this sign to work today, nearly all of the employees I spoke to found the email offensive and appreciated my sign. The CHO himself served me at our employee event and didn’t say anything about it. Bigger person? Not today white devil

My recent history of running is as follows:

Started running in April 2019

MO the marathon runner encouraged me to train for a half which was lol at the time but I did it

Ran a half in September like a badass

Got lazy with running from October  - January

Hurt my foot in February and stopped running

Started running again in June

This run was from the other day and loooooookie here I almost ran a 10 minute mile

We start school on Thursday. Rumor has it that an entire department at the high school is quarantined after a teacher tested positive. They worked together in the days prior to the positive test. My district sent out a job posting for “classroom supervisors” who will be in the classroom while the quarantined teachers teach from home 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃

Brain Dump:

We got a fence a couple weeks ago and Murphy rolled in cat shit today soooo I’m super glad we spent that $5k and now I get to give him baths more often.

School starts next week (face to face with virtual option) and I am not feeling it. I am usually ready for school to start so I can get back to a routine but I am super uncomfortable with pandemic teaching.

Speaking of pandemic teaching, one of the teachers who hung out in my room Tuesday WITHOUT A MASK is currently quarantined because his SIL is positive and he was with her last weekend. Awesome.

I have a million things on my to do list. I accomplish one thing as I think of four more.

I am trying very hard to be supportive of my new coworker, but she isn’t even trying really. I offered to help her get stuff done next week, but she hasn’t been in other than our two required work days this week. That annoys me. Why should I go out of my way to help when she isn’t doing all she can to get things done herself?

I made monthly homework logs for the whole school year so I’m sure we’ll go virtual and won’t need them.

Things

Our start date got pushed from July 30th to August 6th

We are offering virtual and in person. The virtual option is a Chromebook set up in the classroom logged into Zoom. No extra prep to check in with those students, upload assignments and resources, etc. 

The custodians haven’t been wearing masks at school all summer, and told me they don’t have to until kids are there. 

We had a staff Zoom today where the superintendent talked about how our county is really doing just fine (although I looked it up and we are the 9th highest in confirmed cases out of 92 counties in my state) and most people who die are in the 80+ age range, so should we really be worried about our students and staff? #gaslighting

Facts about my newest teammate:

Didn’t respond to my email asking if anyone wanted a work day. When I texted her about it, she said “I haven’t been checking my email.” She says she’s in Florida till the 15th and to let her know if I want anything from Disney...

Calls me and says that she went to the ER with a high fever the night before, couldn’t get tested for COVID, had to go to the doctor this AM to get tested and didn’t have service. Apologizes 89743 times

The person who was tagging her in Florida photos posted that she was tired from their trip two days after our meeting
