*Mike didn’t look at the book*
Thinking about how when Mike thought that the painting was from El he didn't put it in his room on the wall but after he found out Will is gay he suddenly has it on his wall in college lol
As much as I love to joke about Mike being a demogorgon, I actually dislike any theories that place Mike at the center of all supernatural, because I think that goes against the core of his character. The important thing about Mike is that there's nothing special about him. That's his main conflict. That's why he started dating El in the first place. He thought that dating a cool girl with superpowers would make him cool too, but as it turned out, you can't really brag about a girlfriend whose existence you can't even tell anyone about because she's hiding from the government. And his friends couldn't care less about their relationship too. To them, El is El, and Mike is still the same Mike they've always known, except now he's even more annoying. He also knows that the only reason El "chose him" was because she simply needed someone, and he happened to be the first person she came across. That's why he's so fixated on being needed by the people he cares about, and feels useless when they don't need him, since he believes that's his only value.
The lab really wasted all of those Hawkins resident tax dollars on hazmat suits and giant guns for their guys to go into the upside down just to be pieced immediately. They should’ve known flare guns and party city camo gear would’ve been enough to destroy the entire dimension :/// wasting these people’s time, smh
El really told Mike “I need you to help them understand my choice” just for him to turn around and make some bullshit about her death instead
Sorry it still pisses me off
still crazy to me that mike didn’t close the door to el’s bedroom when he went to talk to her but closed the door very obviously when he went to talk to will in his room
this says so much about the hugely differing dynamics of byler and mileven. when you leave the door open, it suggests that you're going to be leaving the room soon, that you're not going to be sitting down and fully focusing on the conversation but rather planning for it to be something quick. it also symbolically suggests a lack of intimacy - you aren't making an effort to ensure that it's just the two of you in the room; it's not close and safeguarded and held tightly by you, but rather visible and open.
put simply: mike was never planning on having a comprehensive, genuinely invested conversation with el where he sincerely apologises and does better, but he absolutely was planning this for will. he trivialises el's concerns, whereas he gives will an actual apology and affirms that he wants to fix things and be a team going forwards. he mends the intimate bond between will and himself that never existed in the first place with el. it shows where his priorities lie in terms of his relationships.
additionally, his relationship with el is one that's on show - the door is open because mike symbolically wants to be seen, as mileven is a performative relationship that mike uses to affirm his heterosexuality to the world. in contrast, his relationship with will is one that he holds close to his chest, that exists in shared looks and unspoken words - the door is closed because mike is scared for this relationship to be seen by the world, but he still wants to keep it going in private spaces crafted between will and himself.
this is a good detail so many people missed!
I both agree and disagree, because El herself said she’s keeping the door open 3 inches, like Hopper asked her to. So Mike keeps it that way to show some respect for her grief. And when he knocked on that door, it wasn’t closed either.
At the same time, that care feels performative. He wants others to see that he cares, but then he brings bland Eggos with no toppings or even cutlery, and he doesn’t know what to say. He opens with “so are we not gonna talk about it?”, while with Will, he knew exactly how he wanted to apologize and why it mattered.
And the contrast between the conversations and scenes is important too. They both start with Mike sitting behind them while Will/El have their backs turned to him, but then the emotions go in completely different directions. Will turns around with slightly teary eyes, looking right at Mike, while El stands above Mike, crying. Both conversations make them emotional, but one is connected, reassuring, leaving Will relieved because they are reuniting, and the other feels like the painful gap of not understanding each other is physically hurting El.
how it feels to still be on the conformitygate/lovewinsgate bus
Found myself enjoying a little giggle at the Lego advertisement. Aww, Will in Mikes arms… kinda reminds me of something!
Like how Noah thinks Will should’ve died (because of his connection to the hive) like Eddie, in Mikes arms.
+ In the comics, when Will becomes the DM, Will the Wise dies in Mike the Braves arms, after the covenant (hivemind) breaks.
So I stopped laughing
so apparently Will has had a turtle this entire time and I haven't noticed
They’re at it again
Can’t stop winning over there
They’re at it again
this is lowkey how i be imagining 90s byler… it’s free btw

(please do check out the linked tt as well.. for anyone who can’t access it: it’s a compilation of Finn’s name being replaced by Noah’s for the Met + multiple clips of Noah ‘accidentally’ introducing himself as “Finn Wolfhard”.)
(From: The Offical Stranger Things Cookbook)
March 22nd is supposed to be April 7th -> Will’s (alleged) birthday replaces Mikes
And of course:
+ Bonus (for the things I couldn’t find photos for but have seen/know they exist)
Via Instagram: Cara Buono in a BTS photo with Finn Wolfhard during S4 shooting, tagging him as “Noah Schnapp” (notably, right on top of the triangle pocket/his heart)
And as others have pointed out: After El/Mike hug (s5) and she puts her hand on his shoulder, they’re posed the same way Will/El were in the vol2 teaser posters. Remember when Shawn Levy had only put Mike/Will on his story?

Do I know what this entails? No not really. Just thought this was interesting.
Edit: hey!!! I forgot the whole watch thing

mike/michelle wheeler with this belt yall....
Seen these be passed around as teasers for a scrapped season 3.
They are actually from a 2017 photoshoot for Harper’s Bazaar!
The greater adhesion to the costuming and overall visual style of the first two seasons, can be attributed to this issue of the magazine coinciding with promotion for season 2. The photoshoot I believe was done by a Micheal Avedon, and the stylist is sadly uncredited at least in the online version of the article I was able to find (I don’t know about the models, but the costumes on Finn and Noah perfectly capture Adams, Turzanska, and Wilcox’s work as designers on those seasons!).
I especially love this last photo! It most resembles a real poster for the first two seasons, and I’d unironically put this up on my wall if I found an issue at my local newsagents.
(^the girl in the pool above is a model, not Millie as far as I’m aware)
Anyway, thought I’d upload this to correct misinformation I was seeing floating around of photoshopped versions of these originals being costume fittings for a scrapped version of season 3 that was more inline with s1&2’s creative direction. As much as I hate to be a party pooper, I felt this was important to hold up for the sake of creating an accurate record of this show’s history.
Massive kudos to lexx_webber on threads for being the first source I was able to find clarifying this information!
