I find the "logical reasoning" some people give for certain things concerning CG to be a bit weak.
Like, for example, the game that Derek is seen playing in his room, the one with a fake ending that makes you play all the way at the beginning again to get the real and satisfying ending. That could be a hint in plain sight to be a part of the plot of the show! Because they literally did it before, in S2!! They make the group play Dig Dug, the one that makes them discover MadMax, and they have admitted that it was a nod to the storyline of the building of the tunnels that the Demos would use to travel in.
But if you point this out as a possibility, some people will say things like "Oh well I don't think it means much, it was a very popular game in the 80s, so I don't think we should read too much into it :/". But how is it reading too much into it if they have literally done it before?? Who is to say that they wouldn't use that idea again? Considering they literally have done it before, actually makes the "logical reasoning" less logical, imo, or more like going through hoops and ladders to try and "explain it away".

i thought it was interesting because
1. yellow and red pizza shop. the three characters who have a scene 'together' in another red and yellow pizza shop
2. el is discovering she's lost her powers
3. new coke -> symbol of mike and els relationship
4. literally digging through the rubbish for a symbol of her and mike's relationship
5. shop front cropped to 'epa' as in environmental protection agency. concerned with problems of environmental damage causing public health issues. like idk. herbicides
6. orange julius -> reference to agent orange (hopper's curse) as in the herbicide hopper was mixing in vietnam and what he thinks killed sara
7. new york -> reference to where hopper moved after sara was born and where sara died
8. claire's colour corrected blue -> known for their hair accessories. sometimes colloquially known as 'claire's accessories' or even 'claire's hair accessories' -> sarah's blue hairband. which is also centre of the shot
9. this is also linked to the @erikiara80's car crash theory because there is literally. a car. crashed into the new york pizza shop.
10. will and el being framed together while el volunteers to be the one to fix the problem
11. el can't so they have resort to mike's 'physics' (rather than what... chemistry?)
EDIT: oh! and i forgot 'there should be a latch. check under the wheel' from jonathan just like in s5. and 'distributor, distributor' as will gets his goosies
Mike was gonna become a brick in the wall since S1, and it was always connected to him conforming in his relationship with El.
We NOW know from S5:
At the end of the song, a man shouts:
If you don’t eat your meat, you can’t have any pudding!
This is obviously a metaphor for conforming: enduring your unpleasant duties first, do what's enforced and expected of you (eating meat, the proper food), only then being allowed something you actually enjoy: freedom and joy (the dessert).
In the finale of S1, Lucas and Dustin are quite excited to find loads of pudding:
Mike doesn't seem so interested:
El seems intrigued but doesn't know what pudding is (this is so sad: she doesn't know joy, only her duties):
Mike explains:
El also wants to eat Eggos, but Mike says no, eat real food:
Eat your meat!
This is where ST first uses this metaphor and it's right before Mike kisses El for the first time. I don't need to explain that that kiss does not look enjoyable, that Mike surprises her with it and she asks him if he's like her brother right before.
Then again in S3, during Mike's first attempted love confession to El, they sit in front of this sign:
Mike tries again to perform his expected obligation to reconcile with her after the break up to become her boyfriend again, and isn't successful this time or any other time really telling El that he loves her.
So this metaphor has been connected to Mike from S1 and specifically to Mike and El and the quintessential hallmarks of romance (first kiss and first love confession), being an unpleasant obligation enforced on them by an oppressive and authoritarian system.
Did I mention my tomodachi Jonathan and Nancy had a child that they named Winter? Even my game somehow knows that marriage with kids is some Flayer shit

Jonathan seems to be a character created by the Lab to give Will a brother. Jonathan could be visually based on David Bowie and performing tasks of supporting him and also introducing Will to music, which would keep Will in the simulation.
(although I’m not sure that he as Jonathan acknowledges it, and probably is genuinely living in Nina and loves his ‘brother’)
But Jonathan isn’t just an empty hologram.
(meanwhile, notice how the colour palette of Jonathan’s room, including the Bowie shot, duplicates in Will’s t-shirt)
…Have you ever wondered why we love Robin so much?.. Why she is such a good friend to Will? Why she has basically substituted Jonathan for him? Why is she so good in music and even knows what Will would like, barely being acquainted to him?

Robin is good at music like Jonathan, Robin likes Nancy like Jonathan, Robin is Will’s support like Jonathan. Robin knows the kids. Bc Rockin fucking Robin IS Jonathan.
And it’s Robin who plays Jonathan, not vice versa, bc👇 Steve and Robin are Brenner’s numbers 👇

The way I see it is that Robin was placed in the hologram when, let’s say, Will needed a brother figure; as soon as he’d grown up, he got a queer friend who helped me where Jonathan could’ve but he wouldn’t understand Will that much. All this time it was one character, who was originally a girl, but changed their gender to fit in Will’s life.
Jonathan yarning for Nancy while she’s in Stancy, anyone? (now I even see Steve in this Dan. And El)
this also explains why the characters keep quoting each other: sometimes it can be literally just one character, or it can be switching-arcs- s5 (like in @warmglowhc example of Mike as Dustin), or repeating storylines, mixing with each other.
(do we still remember that Priah wasn’t that satisfied with Erica’s ending? could that be bc Erica is not real either?)
What fascinates me is the tendency of switching genders of the characters, depending on what was needed for Nina tv-season:
At this point I believe that Dustin is in the lab, same as Henry is 001; but Suzie and Barb are their versions needed for other characters for the plot.
❗️Along with this there’s a pretty solid evidence for stonathan endgame by @strange-anni which also matches Will’s erasure from the narrative; so far I’m not exactly sure how it aligns, but as there are also shots of Robin and Jonathan together, I believe in the simulation they can be duplicated (doppelgangergate, anyone?): like, here’s a nurse looking like Nancy, aside from Vickie being Nancy:
and as for this gang, I’ve always felt like they are a crew here, so I even assumed that they might be just the “agent smiths”, however, as we’ve just seen, I still believe that just partly —
I think it’s gonna be the drama of the real finale:
some of our characters are just a program, but they’re attached to each other, they have feelings, and they might be not ready for this to end.
Stonathan might be endgame inside Nina, if Steve chooses to stay. Ronance will become endgame irl. Max’s been sus too long not to be a program, so does it speak in Lucas staying in Nina? (We’ve had theories that Lucas could’ve stayed with her version wherever she is, and somehow we’re back there?) If Steve stays for Jonathan, Dustin might stay for Steve. It also means that Eddie might get back into the picture, but generally we need to lock in sfm with doppelgängers, as it’s a huge hint at who’s real.
