@seekshelter
This cake was the star of my night
I made a beef and tomato pizza mmmmmmm... #pizza #foodporn #cheese
An attached pair probably would have taken the cake, but still really cool how it turned out ~
The most disturbing childhood memory destroying thing you'll see today? Perhaps. Check out Rock Salt on Facebook. You can also read full issues here.
We now have character names. It's only a matter of time till someone photoshops Jake the Dog as a Bantha in the background of the Finn card. Actually, I may do that later tonight ~
When The X-Files was originally released on VHS, the first few volumes, which contained only 2 episodes per tape, also included some 3.5" x 5.25" art cards for each of the episodes.
Ice is still a really cool episode, even if it is just a rip of John Carpenter's "The Thing."
Doctor Who - S08EP04 - Listen
Everything awesome:
Doctor Who: Natural Historian - That's a show I'd like to see
Little Danny Pink
Creepy beds
"It's because her face is so wide. She needs three mirrors."
That look on Clara's face when she realizes she's the thing under the bed in The Doctor's "dream." I guess that answers her earlier question.
Clara's hug attack skills
This is why there is only a 5" clearance under my bed. No way I'm gonna be able to be pulled under there.
In any case, if Clara had just told the Doctor she knew Danny then he probably could have figured this stuff out much sooner.
I also got a very Midnight feel from this episode. Especially with the knocking on the door bit.
The not so awesome:
Awkward first dates that turn into bad first dates
Monsters under your bed
Phone calls at inopportune moments
Clara is a terrible liar
Questions raised:
How did the Tardis pick up Danny's memories? Clara did have a connection with him, but he wasn't the one that was plugged in.
Dad skills? Does this mean that there is a baby Time Lord running around somewhere?
Does this supposed to tie in to the Midnight episode?
Gravity Falls - S02EP04 - Sock Opera
Everything awesome:
The Metallica reference
Puppet Stan
Mabel juice
Rollerskating down dirt roads
Puppets as currency
For a moment, I thought he was gonna choke on the pitt.
Kisssinging
"Get out of my brother's body you evil triangle"
The not so awesome:
The laptop got trashed
Questions raised:
What is Bill, really?
Doctor Who - S08EP03 - Robot of Sherwood
Everything awesome:
"You bony rascal" - Robin Hood
Spoon fights
Lute solos
Bantering
The Wilhelm scream
The Mechanical Turk reference
If I was Robin Hood, I would be having a lot more questions when the Doctor was telling me about radiation and robots and computers. That's probably some mind-blowing stuff to have to take in if you lived a few hundred years ago.
Robin's swashbuckling saves-the-day entrance
This episode reminded me of the classic episodes. The story is kinda laid back and more about the character interactions than anything else. The danger at the end really only comes from the bad guy not knowing anything about physics. However, the thing I liked most was something that we don't often see. The Doctor generally gets along with everyone, even the bad guys. It was nice to see the Doctor at odds with someone.
I was kinda sad that the ship exploded at the end. I was under the impression that they could have collected the gold in a nice way. It was just the sheriff that went about it all wrong. He was the one that wanted to rule. They just wanted to get their ship repaired so they could leave. Or maybe I just got the wrong thing out of this.
The not so awesome:
Angry Doctor for knowing that his story was told.
Questions raised:
Apparently, the Tardis has healing capabilities. Why has it not fixed its cloaking device?
Marian kisses the Doctor's cheek and he gets a strange look on his face. Almost like he thought it was strange to feel human/alien contact. Will that be explored more later?
The Strain - Episode 9 - The Disappeared
Everything awesome:
Dutch finds the alcohol. In case of vampire virus outbreaks, I think I would have the same desire.
Figurine freakouts
Walder Frey just told that kid to move on
At least they'll have plenty of bread to eat
Matt remains eulogyless. I assume that's not a real word, but that's what I'm using.
Hand crushings. The Master's hands are freakin huge.
I kinda expected Ephraim's ex-wife to show up while they were doing it. I guess it was much funnier to have them throwing their clothes on like a couple of teenagers when parents get home early.
Ephraim's Beastie Boys t-shirt
Not a lot went on this week. I think Felix's tongue was the star of this episode.
The not so awesome:
Terrible kid actors
Vomiting Felix
Questions raised:
Two episodes ago, they teased us with mutant vampire hunters. Where are they now?
Doctor Who - S08EP02 - Into the Dalek
Everything awesome:
The "Fantastic Voyage" homage
Awkward first impressions
Freaky Dalek eye entries
Perfect idea for a Doctor Who waterpark ride - The Dalek Slide
Dalek stomach goop
"Mortuaries and larders, always the easiest to break out of." - The Doctor
Bolt holes
Dalek eyeballs
The Star Trek nod - "Resistance is futile."
"Do I really not pay you?" - The Doctor
Dalek brain surgery
Dalek on Dalek violence
The not so awesome:
Why is Clara so interested in a guy who is banging his head against his desk? That's the sort of thing that would make me steer clear of someone.
Questions raised:
Blue? Mr. Pink? Is this suddenly Reservoir Dogs? However, I'm assuming that there is more to Mr. Pink than we're initially being told.
Is Missy some kind of collector of those that have a run in with the Doctor?
Defiance - S02EP12/S02EP13 - All Things Must Pass/I Almost Prayed
Everything awesome:
Nolan drinking in the snow
That crash explosion at the beginning was pretty cool looking. I like that middle bit where the suction pulled back in on itself.
Rafe's time in jail seems to lack all the hj visits that Datak's stay included.
Datak and Stahma's bickering
"You know what I miss most about Defiance? - The hot lady mayor?" - Yewll and her Hallucination
Of course, this is all part of Pottinger's plan. He already seems to be in Amanda's good graces. Everything else he's doing is just overkill. I guess sociopaths never really know when enough is enough.
The couple that kills together, stays together
I like that we got another look at a city outside of Defiance. Too bad they went and blew it up with purple death lights
Wow, it looks like the threw all that was left of the CGI budget into the final episode.
I really like the snowy Defiance opening
There really needs to be more Datak cosplaying
Pilar gets the line of the week - "You know, she blew my husband. Just thought you should know." Also, Stahma's face when she sat down right after that was pretty awesome.
Datak devouring wings
Nolan's hulk-out moment
Nolan's peptalk
Rafe seems to have a love/hate relationship with Pilar. Wish they would explore that more.
All spaceships need crazy straw controls
We got the final two episodes on the same night. Considering that they did the same thing with the previous two episodes, it makes me a bit scared for the future of the series. Are they just burning off the episodes? It still remains to be seen if a third season is happening.
In any case, I really think this is how you do a season finale. The main story was taken care of, but still lots of other threads that need to play out for next season.
The not so awesome:
Amanda and Stahma's confrontation
Nolan probably answered Berlin's question in the worst way possible
Questions raised:
"Holy Christmas" - Does Yewll celebrate?
Is Pottinger's plan actually going to make Team Datak/Stahma stronger?
Did Amanda learn nothing?
Animation Re-animation! "Bob’s Burger’s" fall premiere Oct 5th and "The Walking Dead" premiere Oct 12th… So of course I had to do another mashup. This time Gene as Glenn; Teddy as Well Walker; Bob as Rick; Linda as Lori; and Louise as Daryl. Yes… those are cheese burgers coming out of Teddy.
Another Walking Dead mashup by Bob’s storyboard artist Damon Wong
This is too good not to share :) ~
The Strain - Episode 7 - For Services Rendered
Everything awesome:
While some people might have thought the cab driver was stupid, I've always been of the opinion that cab drivers see some crazy stuff. This was just one of those nights for him.
Gus' yelling about frog tongues made me laugh
Jail snuggles
Anti-vampire tongue flip skills
Strain vampires like a lot of glass
Trapped in a subway car isn't where I would want to be when vampires are running about.
Mouth tentacles really creep me out
After a fairly uneventful episode, I was not expecting an army of vampire assassins to show up to save the day. This show just kicked itself into gear.
The not so awesome:
Nazi concentration camps
Questions raised:
Seriously, why wouldn't Ephraim check with Jim? I know he's mad at him, but doesn't it just make sense to see what he knows?
Doctor Who - S08EP01 - Deep Breath
Everything awesome:
Dinosaurs!!!!
"It just laid an egg!" - Inspector Gregson
Strax's threats are always so over the top
Strax's throwing skills
I don't want to know what lizard/human sexings entails
For a moment, I thought the Doctor was going to rob that man. Also, when he was yelling at him was a very "The Thick of It" moment.
Clockwork people and clockwork workings
"Nothing is more important than my egomania." - Clara
"Do you have a children's menu?" - Doctor - The best part of this is that they did
"Hello Hello, rubbish robots from the dawn of time." - Doctor
"I hate being wrong in public. Everyone forget that happened." - Doctor
While it is obscured in smoke, this episode introduced one of the more disturbing things ever on an episode of Doctor Who - a balloon made of human flesh.
I do like the callback to "The Girl in the Fireplace" as that was one of my favorite episodes.
I do like the new Tardis insides
I was not expecting Matt Smith to show back up, but it was nice to see him.
Awkward hugs
I'm really liking Peter Capaldi's Doctor. This episode reminded me a lot of how the classic episodes were structured. They were a lot of fun without having to always rely on "the fate of the universe hangs in the balance" story lines. Those are ok, but they really lose impact when you have a season full of them. What reminded most of the classic episodes was how there was always a scene where the Doctor gets into a casual conversation with the bad guy while their plan is being carried out.
The not so awesome:
Sad dinosaurs
Burning dinosaurs
Carriage alarm systems
Questions raised:
How did the Doctor get out from under the seat when it came back up?
Does this mean that the new Doctor would willingly kill someone?
Considering that she was stuck in Victorian England, when was the last time Clara got to charge her phone?
Who is Missy and is that really robot heaven?
Now, I know Capaldi is good friends with Craig Ferguson and knowing that the Time Lords still exist somewhere...wouldn't it be great if he showed up as one?
Defiance - S02EP10/S02EP11 - Bottom of the World/Doll Parts:
Everything awesome
Bubbling gulanite
Stahma’s eavesdropping
Quentin needs more than a slap
Weird electric space jellyfish
As soon as I saw the episode title (Doll Parts), I figured that song was gonna get featured
Nolan’s ninja moves…although, he did lose the gun immediately after
Vomiting a slinky really can’t be good for your throat
Berlin’s anal bead fondlings
The Irath that wants to kill Nolan is the character that won a contest from the game where they brought one of the player characters into the show.
Nolan’s body slam
Sukar’s got some massive arms
I was not expecting that person to be the killer…much less have ninja moves
I’m kinda glad Nolan and Tommy at least made peace
We got two episodes this week. Unfortunately, the first one was mostly uneventful with just Pottinger and Amanda snuggling in a cave. Good thing that the second episode made up for the night.
The not so awesome:
Rafe just can’t catch a break when it comes to his family. It’s only a matter of time till Christie turns on him.
Questions raised:
Has no one noticed all these people missing from Defiance?
