Karma was truly against this eleventh Asahina. He just had to randomly think about the period in his life when he was getting anonymous notes about joining soccer, only to later end up befriending much of the soccer team (though he still never joined). Sure, he helped out a friend back home with sports teams once, but Yusuke also mad Sasakura pay him for it. Friends help friends out right? Right.
“That sounds nice and all, but—” He trailed off for a moment as another memory hit him.. This time, from a couple of nights ago, when he got home to his roommates having some kind of debate again.. His one roommate instantly assumed Yusuke had been watching anime, when he really had just walked in the door.. It was awkward, and all someone else’s fault that Yusuke was now thought of to be one of those die-hard anime fans by his roommate. Perhaps it was time to settle with a new crowd… ”—but………..”
No, no no no, be strong Yusuke, don’t let him seduce you into joining a club. Shaking his head rigorously, mostly in an attempt to get the undesired thoughts out of his head, he looked the other in the eye.
“Yusuke Asahina. What does my hair have to do with baseball?”
Wow Eijun really had a lot to teach this guy about baseball! And here he thought it was common knowledge. "Come on how can you not know!" He bounced in place with a giant smile. "All the great of any sport have some kind of trademark to them! You have cool hair! Surely it's a sign you're destined for greatness in baseball!"
Had Yusuke refused already? Maybe. (Okay yes) But Eijun would claim ignorance if questioned why he was still working for a yes out of Yusuke. Nope, he definitely had not heard that no way only seconds earlier.
He placed his hands on his hips with a firm nod. "I'm super flexible! It gives me idiosyncratic pitches that makes it hard for batters to hit my balls! Your cool hair can be your thing! The Blazing Infielder! Hot Rods! Don't let the ball get hit into the INFERNO!!!"
It was more than likely the only word to describe the current situation, as Naoto looked up spitefully at the large tree in front of her. A few limbs up, sat an all too familiar hat, as a gust of wind had oh-so-kindly removed it from her head, placing it up in the tree.
Problematic, indeed. It was just a hat, but it was also her favorite one by far and it just didn’t feel right to just abandon it. However, the detective was also a bit wary on the idea of climbing up a tree.. if not solely for what sort of ridiculous comments she would never hear the end of if someone she knew witnessed such an activity… Time to scope out local passerby-ers who might be willing to lend a hand.
Eijun panted as he struggled to pull his tires against the wind. It was way too windy today. He at first had taken it as a great challenge to test his strength. Run against the wind while pulling his tires! It sounded great at the time. But the drag was a lot stronger than he thought it would and some of the gusts were strong enough to make his tires fly up a little! He had made his way through half the park already, and was on the look out for a water fountain or something for a quick break.
Rather than finding a water fountain he noticed someone staring up at a big tree with a concerned look on her face. Maybe a cat was stuck in the tree or something! That was plenty good reason to take a quick break from his run, right? Right! Eijun jogged up next to the girl with heavy breaths. "Hey is a cat stuck up there or something?"

There was one thing (okay, more like several) to be said about lack of structured practice that came with Seidou's baseball that Eijun has grown accustomed to. Without it, he had a drastic lack of means to deplete his energy. It really was not possible for him to come up with the proper workout schedule to use up his boundless spirit to tire him out, not matter how much he wanted to train.
Thus, Eijun had the issue of being slightly more hyper than his friends were used to. He got bored way too easily, especially when he was supposed to be working on his homework. Honestly, he had gotten a lot done. Half of his math homework was done, so that warranted a break, right? Totally. Unfortunately the house had been silent for a while and he wasn't even sure if anyone was even home. Not like that would stop him from wasting time to find out.
Eijun bound out of his room and checked Furuya's room first. Nope no tall, dark and silent to bother. Miyuki was next, but unsurprisingly the catcher was no where to be seen. Seriously where the hell was he going all the time? Last but not least was Haruichi. Eijun did not bother knocking, just as he had for the past two rooms, and simply let himself in. At the sight of his pink haired friend sitting at his desk, he light up with excitement and all but pounced on him from behind. "Harucchi! I'm bored and need a break from my homework! Play with me!"
This guy was definitely a weirdo; no normal person got that excited over someone bringing back some loose baseballs.. Loose anything for that matter, unless it was money or food maybe. Was picking up from rolling balls really that big of a deal? Either way, man, this guy knew how to lay on the flattery.
“A lifesaver?.. I wouldn’t go that far..” Man, as overblown as it might have been, it sure felt great to not be the letdown or slacker for once. Yusuke was a proud person, he couldn’t deny it. If he were any more prideful, he’d probably ask the other to continue on with the praise.. But he wasn’t. Thankfully.
“I’ve never.. really… considered it…” He’d never played baseball before.. Nor really thought about it too much. The most he’d really done was help the soccer team back home once or twice, and train with his basketball team brother.. If anything, Yusuke was quite proud of his short and long-distance running records at his old school— the rest of his strange athletic talent was just luck, he guessed. The entire Asahina clan was seemingly athletic, including his mother so it was probably just good genes.
While he said he never considered it before, he seemed to being so now. So Eijun happily remained uncharacteristically quiet to let him think about the possibilities of playing baseball as Eijun collected the run away baseballs from him. While it still wasn't possible to completely close the bag to prevent such an accident from happening again, Eijun managed to shift his supplies around so there was no gap between the zipper and the shafts of the bats.
The guy seemed to have to come to some sort of conclusion and opened his mouth only to give Eijun a negative. Well, that wasn't anything new. Everyone was turning him down these days, so he was completely used to it. Eijun's grin hardly faltered as he swung his bags back on his shoulders. "You say that, but have you ever played baseball? It's really fun! Really really fun! There's nothing more satisfying than the weight of a baseball in your mitt and the FWOOMP it makes when you catch it and the CRACK when you hit it with your bat!"
He bounced from foot to foot as he held his hand out to the helpful stranger. "I'm Eijun! Sawamura Eijun! You have cool hair! Sure you don't want to try some baseball out?"
For a certain Yusuke Asahina, it was a matter of pride and thankfulness that his record of being asked to join clubs, let alone sports teams/clubs, had been an occurrence seemingly long forgotten over time. No longer were his dreams filled with long blond hair and ice, with the never ending chants of “one of us” ringing throughout. No, his dreams now consisted of a familiar silhouette, framed by the flames of a burning desk and papers; not much of an improvement, but at least he was getting paid now.
He was headed in the general direction of said location of payment, planning for a single pitstop along the way to stock up on snacks and dinner for the night— trainees recently had been staying late to practice, and he didn’t want to be the only one not staying. Yusuke had only just stepped out of the classroom door, when several pieces of sports equipment passed by him, in seemingly slow motion.
Why.. Why were baseballs just roaming the streets now.. Ok, sidewalks. Just as he wondered where they could have possibly come from, the sound of someone shouting for the capture of said balls. Call it instinct but it wasn’t long before the red-head was diving to grab them— they were probably a hazard anyways.. people tripping on them or them bumping into a possibly breaking something. He was probably doing his civic duty as a policeman in training anyways— also that no one else seemed to care that there was a small army of baseballs making their way down the walk..
Finally, arms and bag full of baseballs, he found himself in front of the owner.. Or at least, presumed owner.. judging by all the other baseball stuff the guy had.
“These yours? You should really be more careful ya’ know..?”
Eijun watched with his eyes growing wide as a kind stranger gathered his escaping baseballs. His reflexes were pretty good! He managed to pick up each rolling ball without tripping or letting go. Eijun really wanted to see how good he would be with a mitt on his hand with a single ball bouncing off the dirt from a grounder hit...
By the time his savior found himself in front of Eijun, his eyes were sparkling with the possibility of an infielder. So enraptured by the sight, he had forgotten about trying to get off the ground. The questions posed to him reminded him about the situation he was in, eliciting a laugh as Eijun finally forwent his hold on his bags to properly sit up.
"Yeah they're mine! Thanks for your help!" He bounced to his feet, eyes alight with a passionate hope. "You really were a lifesaver! You got all of those balls like it was nothing! Have you ever played baseball before? Ever been interested in playing baseball? Wanna come by to the sports fields and catch a few balls?"
Carrying around baseball supplies all day at school to attempt to get people to join the club was a lot easier when he didn't have to worry about hauling around actual school supplies as well. But his lack of school books was getting on his teachers' nerves and he was severely scolded by one of them to put more effort into schoolwork than trying to start a baseball team. Obviously this teacher hadn't had Eijun as a student long enough and underestimated his determination when he arrived to the school the next day with just as much baseball gear and all of his textbooks. Try to tell Eijun Sawamura he couldn't do something, did she?
Of course, like most things Eijun did full throttle without fully thinking it through, things weren't working out to well. It was seriously hard to juggle all his stuff. Even for the kid that ran around dragging three tires, it was a lot of heavy stuff to be carrying around all day.
It was just his luck that someone decided to bump into him as he was walking down the stairs out of the school. His center of balance was way off and he wasn't able to catch himself from falling flat on his face. It was even more of his luck that the duffel bag he had to carry baseball supplies couldn't fully fit the bats he had, so it had to remain slightly open for them to stick out. With the force of his fall, several baseballs rolled out and started on an adventure across the sidewalk. Eijun struggled to get back on his feet with the weight pulling him down and yelled to anyone that would listen, "Someone get those balls for me!!"
Shit. Eijun raced over to the kid, his heart pounding in his ears as fear made it hard to breathe. Was he hurt? Where did he get hit? That was a really wild ball! “A-are you okay?!” He gasped, frantically dancing around the fallen teen, unsure what to do to check his health.
"I can’t seem to feel my skull…" He gave a low groan, fingers limply moving to massage the bump on his head. It was amazing he even managed to stay this awake. Sure, his words were a bit slurred, but that shouldn’t be too worrying.
Oh this was bad. This was very bad. This was worse than bad. Eijun dropped to the ground next to the kid with tears in his eyes. "D-Do I need to call an ambulance?! Should I call your mom?! No! The hospital first yeah the hospital I'm so sorry! Don't die please don't die!" In his frantic ramblings he attempted to get his phone out of his bag and get it open with shaking hands.
It was impossible not to watch the boy with his exuberance of energy, and Chris cocked a smile at him as he followed the youth on his excursion into the buzzing city. There was so much to look at, but a longstanding desire to care for the other kept his gaze returning back. He’d be ready to pull at him in case he ran into anyone by chance. He didn’t want Sawamura hurt after all.
He perked up a little at the question however. Both brows rose as his attention returned, having been window shopping casually as they walked. Uni? It was strange to think that soon enough he’d be elbow deep in studies, he’d only have a few months of freedom before the new semester began. ”I’m studying to be a rehab trainer. I feel like since I’ve the experience firsthand that it’d be well suited for me.”
Chris chuckled a little in turn. ”Are you keeping up with your studies, Sawamura?” A part of him was hesitant to ask. He’d never really been aware of how well the boy had been in school, though if he was able to continue with a baseball career, his grades would have needed to stay within a certain range. That fact was hopeful, at least.
Chris studying to help rehabilitate athletes sounded perfect for him. Well, second to perfect because perfect would be him playing baseball with Eijun professionally for the rest of their lives- but that was besides the point. Eijun kept an eye on people behind him, and was doing well with not wrecking any havoc by walking backwards... yet.
"Of course I'm keeping up with my studies!" He shot back with a proud grin. Though it could hardly be called such a thing when he had just recently started school so there wasn't much to 'keep up' with yet. But whatever, he was doing decent so far. He didn't allow the conversation to linger on him long, and immediately shot back with another question, or two. "Are you going to have much free time? Could you catch for me more than just tonight?!"
"Well… That’s great that your proud of that." He said sarcastically. "You just seem like that guy that does poorly, I guess." Well, at least he didn’t seem like those guys who tries to hard with their studies. That would just added a lot more to the annoying factor. "I told you, I DON’T like baseball. It’s just not what I’m in to. I just don’t see the appeal."
"Well I don't like volleyball!" Eijun snapped back, his eye twitching slightly with his angered annoyance. What the hell was even this guys problem anyways? "Why do we have to do what you like, huh? Who made you boss?"

"C-chris-senpai?" Eijun voice was uncertain, a tone that did not come from him often. He creaked open the door to Chris’s room, scared that someone was going to yell at him for doing something wrong. No such thing happened, so Eijun proceeded with letting himself in to the room.
It was dark - the blinds were shut and there was not a single light on in the room. It was unsettling. Eijun had gotten a weird text from Chris earlier, weird enough that he felt the need to check up on the elder. His roommates had been fine letting him in, and said that Chris had been sleeping the whole afternoon. That had been the second clue to something being up. Chris did not sleep the afternoon away! No way!
Eijun shut the door as quietly as he could. The bundle of blankets on the bed, which he could only assume was Chris, barely stirred. The hell even… He crept over to the bed and cautiously poked the bundle. A mumble emitted from them and it shifted ever so slightly. “Chris-senpai,” Eijun whispered, unsure as to how he was supposed to proceed.
The cocoon rolled over, revealing Chris’s face at the top of it all. Whew, for a second Eijun was worried some animal had crawled into Chris’s bed or something. Although Chris’s eyes were open, they seemed unfocused as if he didn’t really see Eijun crouched next to him. “Are you okay?” Eijun asked, placing a hand on Chris’s forehead. It was pretty warm. Maybe it was just a bad cold he was sleeping off?
Eijun started to get up, and knocked over a bottle of Nyquil that had been on the floor. Oh. Now it made sense. He picked it back up, about to leave when a hand shot out from the covers and pulled him into the bed. Eijun let out an ungainly squawk of surprise as he suddenly found himself tight in Chris’s hold underneath the blankets. Was it even legal for someone sick to be so strong?!
"Chris-senpai," Eijun whined, wiggling his arms free to poke the catcher’s cheek. Chris just groaned and buried his face into Eijun’s shoulder. Well. He was sick and drugged up. Eijun couldn’t help but smile. Who knew Chris-senpai had such a cute side to him! "Well okay," Eijun said with a small laugh as he got comfortable in Chris’s hold. "I suppose I owe you for being a pesky kouhai."

I can’t write short things
Eijun was unusually hot. He normally ran warm, and he rather enjoyed being hot and sweaty. It meant he was out doing something. But this was a sluggish hot; the kind of hot that made his limbs feel heavy and made his eyelids droop. He dragged his feet through the streets as he head home from another late day at the school, surely anyone that passed him would barely recognize him without his usual brisk and peppy pace.
It wasn’t like he was doing anything extra strenuous to put his body in a bad position. Practice as Seidou had been much more extensive than his hack-jobbed attempt of a practice schedule; pitch into the net in the morning, jog to school, harass students as they came into school, harass students as they came out of school, then whatever he could do with Furuya, Harucchi, Chris and Miyuki. Of course, maybe that was the difference, what had made him susceptible to a virus. The lack of a team, of any coach or trainer or anything that would make Koshien a reality was a heavy amount of stress constantly nagging him in the back of his mind.
Somehow he managed to make it back to the apartment without simply collapsing on the sidewalk and taking a nap there. He dropped his bags in the doorway, as well as his shoes and his pants and his shirt. It was way too damn hot.
Eijun took one step into the hall before falling face first to the ground. He groaned, but made no effort to move. The linoleum floor was cool against his skin and felt simply wonderful. No one would mind if he just took a nap in his boxers in the front hall, right? Right.
Unfortunately for him (or perhaps fortunately), the apartment was not empty. The resulting noise and vibrations of his collision with the ground made its way to Furuya’s room. The stoic teen glanced up from his homework and debated simply ignoring the commotion. There was no doubt it was Sawamura and ignoring him was what Furuya did best. But the following groan, then silence was enough to concern even him. With an annoyed sigh, Furuya left his desk to investigate.
To say the least an undressed Sawamura sprawled across the floor was not what he had been expecting. Furuya sighed once more as he nudged the idiot with his toes. Sawamura barely reacted, just whined and returned to his original position. Looking around, Furuya hoped that maybe someone else would magically appear to deal with this situation. When no such thing happened, his shoulders sagged at the annoying task thrust upon him. Why did he have to deal with Sawamura?
Furuya crouched down to poke at Sawamura’s face, on the outside chance he would just wake up and move himself. The reaction was no different than when he had nudged him with his foot, but Furuya did take note of the warmth of Sawamura’s skin. He frowned and placed his palm on the idiot’s forehead, then quickly jerked it back in surprise. Was it even possible for someone to be so hot to the touch?
The nagging beginning of dread began to prick at the edges of Furuya’s poise as he lifted Sawamura’s arm over his shoulder and hauled him to the couch. He had never dealt with a sick person before, especially not someone that was probably dying. That was the only explanation for a silent and unresponsive Sawamura, right?
His first move was to call Haruichi, not quite frantic, but definitely on the concerned side. Or so he told himself. The other male was out of town for the weekend, having left earlier that afternoon, to visit his family back home. He managed to get out of Furuya was exactly Sawamura’s symptoms were, then calmly gave him instructions of what to do. Take his temperature, if it was higher that 101ºF then it would be wise to take him to a doctor. If not, put cooling strips across his forehead and despite Sawamura’s body temperature, get him bundled up in a lot of blankets so he could sweat out the fever.
Thankfully Sawamura’s temperature was not in the danger zone Haruichi had defined. Furuya set to work following the rest of the steps and finally stood over his handiwork, rather proud of himself. Sawamura was wrapped up in two thick comforters and had an ice cold cooling pack on his forehead. Now he could go back to his homework and- A violent shiver shook Sawamura’s body suddenly, making Furuya jump back in surprise. Haruichi had said that he would start to get chills, but Furuya hadn’t expected it to be so soon.
He frowned as he watched Sawamura shiver and try to curl deeper into the blankets. While it was an option to just get more blankets, Furuya also did not feel like returning to his homework just yet. And Sawamura looked really cold now. The kind of cold that blankets just didn’t cut it. He was almost cute when his stupid trap wasn’t open.
Furuya pulled the blankets away from his sorta-friend, mostly-rival, and sometimes-cuddle-victim to nestle in next to him. Almost immediately Sawamura turned into him and snuggled into him to get as close as possible to his body heat. Furuya had a small smile to his lips as he positioned the blankets around them again and then wrapped his arms around the extremely cuddly Sawamura. He should get sick more often, Furuya mused as he drifted off for a nap.
