Introductory post

I was informed that despite being on several other social media websites, I did not have a presence on Tumblr.com. This is being remedied by this blog.

I am Seiji Katayama. I am a fencer. All people can interact, as long as you are respectful. Ask me about fencing. I use he/him pronouns.

They have my sympathy, I've heard a lot of people have died. I don't swear often, but global warming can go fuck itself, and so can the stupid companies that make it worse even if other options are available.

I do not draw or “craft”. I write, however that is for essays. Nicholas enjoys fixing things. He draws on the occasion.

no epee classes for hours in any direction is the only problem

my coach fences foil and saber only like he knows the basics of epee and has taught me them (it’s foil without lamés or right of way, right?) but can’t do any more than that.

closest actual club is 2 hrs and it’s a good club but it’s way more advanced then me like i fence as a hobby I ain’t going to the Olympics anytime soon

Well ask yourself how dedicated you are to learn. Épée and foil are much more different technically. It’s simply a matter of the means you have and whether you will take those means or create avenues for yourself.

my coach is trying to get me to try epee since I have decent aim (my point just slides off the lame or the chest guard) but idkkkkk

You should try épée. I originally did not want to move on from foil. The truth is, if you dislike it, you can go back at any time. It’s cowardous to turn down opportunities for growth.

Comparing the disciplines is difficult and completely subjective. To compare foil, épée, and sabre is as if you were to compare upright bass and bass. Similar in theory, but technically very different. I personally prefer épée. That answer would not be the same for everyone. For example, my team coach prefers sabre.

I have fenced all disciplines. I started with foil. I began épée 4 years into fencing. I fenced sabre along épée for a few years. I have dabbled in HEMA.

Conclusion to the milk. It was not milk. It was indeed paint. I had a bag of thinned down white paint in my bag. It was for an art project. The bag broke and slowly secreted the substance all over our dorm. I’m unsure why we thought it might be milk.

You obviously love it a lot, but what got you so determined?

I was put into many activities and sports as a young child. I would take classes for one activity for a couple of months, then switch. I started fencing at four (4) years old. I’m unsure why, but as I stepped into the salle d’armes, I simply knew that fencing was “my thing”. Nothing more to it.
