for lovers
you've been guiding me this whole time, haven't you?
my chef <3
They have suggested so many times that Sydney and Carmy are endgame. Naysayers said they were like siblings. Nope!
The same music plays when Richie feels at peace and makes contact with Jessie. The same way Carmy holds Sydney in his arms and feels at peace. This time they're no longer under the table!
There was a vibe going on in episodes 5-7, people who said, "This isn't that kind of show," "it's a work show." All kinds of love and vibes's happening there.
Riche confirms there is magic in that place, but not just magic; there's love, and it is metaphysical. There were always things happening beneath the surface. And he tells Sydney that love won't let them fail, and right then, Carmy's voice cuts in to bring Sydney back to the present!
There's love here, and lots of it, and Donna helped the viewers see this is not a platonic or brother-sister relationship. This is new, this is the bear, and it rained, so there could be a cleansing and renewal for what is, and Carmy is not leaving to break patterns because there are already patterns breaking!
Carmy realizes why he loved cooking, and it has to do with the colors and vibrancy of the food. Just like he sees Sydney vibrant and in color, and a different shade of green.
Remember, since the beginning, he used the word green as a disappointing adjective or dismissive to Sydney. But he realizes green, a different shade of green, reminds him how this time it can be different.
The panic attack, Carmy explains to him the reason for his anxiety, or Richie's is because he feels dread leaving a safe zone for an unsafe zone. It's not exactly unsafe; it's not familiar, and it's scary to do anything different. At the end, Richie, even with anxiety, leaves the safe zone and enters something unfamiliar, and that includes Jess.
Like for Carmy and Sydney, Claire is familiar with an old shade of green, and Sydney is new and feels unfamiliar but as peaceful as when Jessie and Richie held hands.
I get why the show ended this way, it's a 24-hour timespan after Carmy decides he is leaving, but they gave us enough time to see that Carmy has a realization that breaking patterns can be as simple as changing his to ask Richie about his day, being there for Sydney, and everyone.
Remember how Sydney told him, simply don't be shitty? He can make it as simple as that, different shades of something new, but in that building where a lot of love and magic already exists.
I still have more thinking to do, but that is what i wanted to share.
it was this moment that made me run and save this damn url. i had no idea they was about to play in my face
Season 5 syd : Tells us she is allergic to apples.
Season 4 carm: why would we have apples? We don’t even use apples?
WE ARE ALWAYS ONE STEP BEHIND THEM UGH. I hate that i feel like I’m checking into their story instead of following it all the time.
From the first meeting when he asks her what’s up as he is reading all the questions in her brain!??
These annoying lovers
Did anyone else notice how Syd has her Sharpie tucked on the outside of her apron and Carmy has his tuck inside his?
And did anyone else see that after learning that she earned TWO stars, Sydney goes to the kitchen, and rearranges how she tucks her pen - facing inward like Carmy? I can’t find a picture but it happens around the 34:26 mark in the series finale.
Those two influence and mirror each other on a molecular level at this point.
So what then, we’re supposed to just walk around now carrying this show in our souls like it’s completely normal ?? It happened and now it’s over and we just have to live with that ??
when sydcarmy shippers , said that donna clocked something between sydcarmy , they called us delusional , and here comes the answer in s5 , when we pointed out that cicero may have feelings for donna , they called us delusional , and here comes the answer in s5 , when we called sydcarmy are not platonic and not business partners , they called us delusional , and said that claire is the real peace and great , but we get the real answer in s5 ............ when we watched the show with eyes wide open they called us why we complicate the relationships between characters ... and when richie said this is not a place of I love you , we get the real answer in s5 , and many thingssssssssssssssssssssss ... so now excuse me because we won ... and we need to move on and write our metas and fanfic ... we have a busy time now.
guys it’s the same light…
I think these 2 Qs realigned him with his truth
"So, you're really leaving?"
"Have any ideas of what you wanna achieve or explore?"
His truth:
Related note: Hot take
I think Sugar asked him the right question by reframing it. Because it wasn't about what he wanted to do, or thought he had to do, or about what anyone else expected from him or was asking him to do, or not.
It was about what he was really capable of doing if he was being honest with himself.
So, that question set off a thought process that remained operating in his unconscious till Sue asked the right triggering question during the interview, which BTW he completely misinterpreted because of that unconscious bias that created a cognitive dissonance, where what Sue was actually inquiring about was his plans for the intership he was applying for, if he got it, his hopes about getting that JOB in particular, and joining the company, etc, but what he actually understood was: what he wanted to achieve/explore IN LIFE.
That was his truth; what he wanted in life was to feel how he felt during that service, that love, that lifting each other up, and he could only do it with his family-family, because of his family-family and ofc, by Syd's side. After all, he wouldn't have been there if it wasn't because of her, because let's not forget that despite the fight the night before, that same AM he had made himself available for her, he wanted to help HER.
And even before, during the fight, he already knew exactly what he wanted. But at that point, he thought it didn't include him.
When Starman told him that they had won the 🌟🌟2 months prior, he knew that that success was hers, but it could include him, and so when Sue asked the magic question, it all finally clicked in his head, and he was finally able to lead with his ❤️.
Thanks @avatarreso for the Nike reference that made me look into Sugar's lines more in depth and find this.
we need to talk about this specifically.

I genuinely can not stand when there’s a black character in a TV show, especially if it’s a black woman character and she’s shipped with a well-known (male) character that’s beloved by the fandom, but the fandom treats her horribly.
I’ve seen this with every fandom I have been in, and each time it aggressively gets worse. For example, Damon and Bonnie from The Vampire Diaries. I have not read the books, but I have been told they did get together in them, and if I am not mistaken, I believe Ian was at least interested in the idea of Bonnie and Damon being together. When watching the show, you can see the chemistry; it just rubs off on each other. Yes, everyone knows Damon is a problematic character, but when he cares, he cares hard, and that especially goes for Bonnie. I wish the writers (Julie Plec) weren’t cowards and allowed us as an audience to see that side of their relationship blossom.
can't be the only one who noticed how touchy sydcarmy were this season

He said the food overall was truly exceptional. And creative. He said the talent here is undeniable. That there's a scallop dish he hasn't been able to stop thinking about and the hospitality was beautiful. He said the room felt alive without being precious or try-hard.
