Writing has always been extremely personal for me—and it’s always been a form of self-therapy. Because of this, the majority of my poetry that I actually like is pretty morbid. I thought this might be a good piece to share as my first on here, because it conveys a fear I have about myself as a creative. Writing is all about relating, about enveloping someone in emotion with words. I’ve always identified with the hard parts of life, the painful experiences that show you who you are when everything else is stripped away. If I try to write about happy experiences, times when things are good, will my words still resonate? Will people care? Will I make them feel something? Poetry has and always will be a journey for me. Thanks for joining me on it.
