Check out the colors of the Himalayan Monal (Lophophorus impejanus)! This vibrant bird inhabits high-altitude forests and meadows in the Himalayas, where it spends its time foraging for snacks like insects, seeds, or berries. It uses its curved bill to dig up food, excavating as much as 10 inches (25 centimeters) below the surface. Only males of the species have the vivid plumage, which they use to attract a mate. Females have brown plumage, which helps keep them concealed from predators while incubating eggs. Photo: cuatrok77, flickr https://www.instagram.com/p/CEHEor_gOYG/?igshid=18ixlca4bn888
