Also today I spent 15 minutes queuing for petrol, then when I eventually get to the front of the queue the cheap petrol is out of order.

Whatever I’ll suck it up and get half a tank of 95 octane, that’ll last a week. I finished up with my obscenely overpriced petrol and as I walked away from the pump an attendant came out and took off the out of order sign.

If that isn’t a p good summary of my life idk what is.

Things I learnt in Mental Health First Aid today

• Talking objectively about a lived subject of discussion (anxiety, depression, suicide, NSSI) in a room of colleagues and trying to not “out” yourself is difficult. Internally whispering “it’s not like that” to yourself is okay.

• Watching people who don’t understand try their best to do so and to really listen and take things on board is heartwarming.

• There are times when my reaction to someone in crisis may have hurt them.

• I need to practice what I preach to others.

• I could well have pushed someone in crisis or experiencing a mental health illness away from me or made it worse through my attempts to “help”

• There are times that I should definitely have sought help for myself.

• If someone expresses suicidal thoughts to you it should not be kept secret.

• Stigma still exists.

• This is hard.
