I've gone through Owlcat's Rogue Trader almost twice from beginning to end, and I've been thinking: This is basically Pact. Except we actually have a fighting chance compared to Blake.

We inherit all the power (and sins) of our relative in an emergency, have to go around stopping everyone from fucking everything up, there is a struggle between modern day morality and what the world (spirits) expect out of us as heir, there is a sub-plot with a demonic blade, we're casted into Basically Hell™, there is a fish wife that you can take for the ride and is particularly useful compared to a lot of the companions, and you end up fighting an eldritch being of "Law" while people in power are trying to outsource powers beyond their comprehension for their own goals.

There's also a build where you get stronger the more injured you become. The main takeaway is that in Rogue Trader you become one of the freest people in the setting, while in Pact the inheritance is a curse and a shackle from the get-go.

I'll have to play as Blake at some point, won't I? Spiritually give the boy a win.

I'm playing right now as Edelthrad, and being subjected to people figuring out the new DLC's toys and the gameplay that I expected to have vs the one I actually wound up having, I think Eldethrad would be a Santic psyker.

It explains a little bit why his psyker power didn't do much of anything in the cutscene when he was trying to stop Kunrad (a bit of overexplaining from me here), and it's one of the pieces of a very broken build. But it also makes for a very cool scene in the final act:

In the fight against his reflections, I think the cursed reflection would be handling the Edge of the Irrevocable, and the righteous reflection could steal it and subdue it by using Sword of Faith since now he'd be at the peak of his power.

I can headcanon that this is why the game gets rid of him so early even though the heretic path is so psyker-coded. On top of his "running on borrowed time" thing that reminds me a little too much about a certain character from Pact...

The only instance of something similar to this coming from the bible that comes to mind is from the tower of Babel. Where god explicitly says that humanity will accomplish anything together, and thus he separates them and strikes down the tower I think.

Other than that, the ones at the top having power only because those at the bottom give it to them doesn't really feel very christian. Or religious at all, given the function religion itself performs in society. That places the power on the base of the societal structure.
