Binder give away
I want to give some guys binders! I have had top surgery and I no longer need them. I have a gray one, black one, and white. All are Underworks, I believe size small. Contact me if you want one. Just trying to help.
Hey there! So I’ve been juggling with this idea for some time, and I think now is the best time to launch it, a little more than one month before back-to-school.
As a former elementary school teacher, I know how limited classroom budgets are, but as someone who grew up trans, I also know how important it is for trans youth to be in contact with positive trans fictional characters. So here’s my idea :
I made this children’s book titled “A Girl Like Any Other” about four yearsago, about a young girl’s transition and her family and friends. It’s basically the book that launched my career as an author. It allowed me to meet some of the most amazing families that I know, and gave me the background setting for my comic.
As it’s almost back-to-school time, I want to send copies of the book for free to elementary teachers that are willing to have it in their classrooms. All they will have to do is to message me their school’s address on Tumblr or by email before August 15th. I will also send them a link to download my “Genderific Coloring book” for free.
The goal is to get the budget to print 200 copies as well as enough money to cover shipping fees for all over the world. I’ll adjust the goal if I see that the demand is higher than that.
It costs around 8$ to print one single copy, and we can estimate a 4$ median for the shipping (it’s 2.50$ for Canada - where I live, - 3$ for the US and 5.50$ worldwide). We need to add 7% for the handling of the money by GoFundMe and Paypal, so that’s 12.84$ per copy - and 2568$ for 200 copies.
If there’s any money left from the campaign, it will be donated to the Trans Lifeline.

Please share widely (and pass the info to teachers)!
@shiraglassman Do you know any teachers this might help? I’m going to be contacting Sophie to see if I qualify since I’m not in the classroom right now but I am working in education.

About three weeks post op.
Is it bad to get jealous of people younger than you who actually get to transition? Like I know I should be supportive but it really just pisses me off
I completely understand that. It is frustrating but just remember, you will have your time.
Yes, I felt the same way. I started T a little over a year ago and I'm 33. Sucks. Big. Time. It gets better though. I concentrated on working out so I could jumpstart the man body.
is there any way to make your hips seem slimmer? I've been using cargo shorts but i've heard other shorts work better
Kai says:
I’ve heard boardshorts (look up Ty Turner on youtube) help and some people try compression shorts.
Compression shorts work great. Some active wear boxer briefs help too.
Two weeks after surgery.
How did you save up for top and bottom surgery? I plan to get top by January 2018. I'm a freshman in college, how's college life as a trans guy? I'm a bit nervous about the environmental change from High School to College.
I was actually fortunate enough to have insurance pay for all of my surgeries. The most they cost were 250 dollars because thats my inpatient co pay. I really just suggest looking for an insurance plan that would cover everything you want, I feel like overall its cheaper than paying for everything out of pocket–just my advice tho.
Many states do not require insurance to cover trans related anything. As for my situation, my endocrinologist is nice enough to only charge me for a copay when I receive tshots. I pay out of pocket for blood work. I recently had top surgery (on June 23rd). I used care credit to pay for it and now work my full time job and a part time job to pay it off. I'm pretty busy because I am a dad and husband! More and more companies are offering insurance that includes the trans community. I work in local government in a southern state...so I've had to work hard to transition. But you can do it if I can.
do you know of any stores that sell masculine clothes in smallish sizes? Online is preferable but real life is fine too
H&M has pretty small clothes, I’d try there!
When I was younger, I was tiny and bought clothes at American Eagle and bought slim fit from all the other stores. A lot of smaller sizes are available online.

Two weeks post op today! It went very well. Please message me if you have any questions!
OUR Restroom: Help Educate Businesses About Unisex Restrooms!
OUR Restroom (One Unisex Restroom) is an initiative started by @kristinnoeline & @allisonweiss that works to educate business owners about the importance of taking gender out of the equation when it comes to single-stall restrooms. Patrons of local businesses will be able to use our website to access free, informative materials to help businesses better understand the importance of unisex restrooms for transgender & gender non-conforming folks, as well as for many others in the larger community!
Our Indiegogo campaign launched TODAY (ahhhh!)!
Please stand together with us to help teach others about the importance of restrooms that include everyone!! Join the movement at OURrestroom.com!

Day 3 after top surgery!
From my good friends on the work they are doing 💙: “We created the www.safebathrooms.club map, a national resource for trans and gender non-conforming folks to locate safe bathrooms. It now has over 200 businesses and orgs who openly oppose legislative hate and discrimination, but we need help spreading the word. If you know of a place to add, there is a submission form on the map. Stay tuned, an app is in the works! River has been incorporating the #IllGoWithYou campaign (www.illgowithyou.org) by sending buttons to people for *free* and asking folks to pick up more and pay it forward in their own communities.
Being a visible ally is a powerful way to make someone’s world a safer place, and anyone can do it by wearing a button. To offset costs of our projects, we are selling ”#IllGoWithYou" and “No Hate In My State” t-shirts here: www.safebathrooms.club (under activism-wear tab)
Sending love from Beantown, River Luck and Emily Waggoner

Name
Let me start off by saying I'm in my 30's. I feel like I probably know quite a few people. That's not to say that someone younger doesn't as well but you know. So, my male name is similar to my old birth name. I felt that keeping it similar would help people transition with me and also if you want to be stealth with new people around, their slip up can sound like a nickname. For example, if people knew you as Lexy and your birth name was Alexis, I would consider Alex or something more male. New people wouldn't be the wiser. But it is also a rebirth of yourself. You are finally being you. So you should celebrate it. And if your new name doesn't fit into people's life, that's their problem. I mainly did this to make it less embarrassing for myself and my family. (Remember, I'm a Dad.) But I also dig my new name. Just remember that it is pretty much like naming a baby. Very important and very wonderful. You will treasure your new self and new identity. Personally, even though I am an adult, I involved my mother in my name change process. She gave birth to me, I felt compelled to honor her in that way.

Before I even came out as trans I already dressed in men's clothes. I would definitely recommend men's clothes and a dude haircut. Compression shorts help if you have hips and binders are awesome. Keep in mind that if you are using a stp, compression shorts make it pretty difficult but I didn't use men's rooms for a while. I waited until I got home or used unisex bathrooms and packed in the compression shorts. Be safe and aware of your surroundings. Make sure you're wearing an actual binder and not ace bandages. Super unsafe and you will inevitably have an unraveled mess. Underworks is a great binder company and they look like tank tops. They are also sold on Amazon. Some of the best advice I read was to shave off your lady face fuzz. Also, I don't wax or pluck my eyebrows. I am a huge fan of working out. It's awesome for your mental and physical health. Cardio and weights are great. Slim down and build your arms, shoulders, and back for a more masculine look. Hmmm...I think that's it for now.
