hi! welcome to our blog.

our system name is Droplight, but you can call us Drop for short. our main host is Matthew, but i, Evan, am the owner of this blog. i will be the main one posting on here.

my pronouns are they/them, he/him, xe/xem, she/her, and it/its.

i am asexual, aromantic, cupioromantic, nebularomantic, nebulatrans(gender), non-binary, demiboy, genderfluid, and many others.

i am neurodevelopmentally disabled, physically disabled, mentally ill, and suffer from chronic pain. if you have any questions about my disabilities and/or what disabilities i have, feel free to ask!

we are a recently discovered system! so we wont be talking about our experiences often---and not on this blog, either. we have a side blog that is dedicated to us being a system. (@thedroplightsystem) though, if you ever have any questions about our alters and headmates, feel free to ask! a few of them are comfortable talking about themselves on here, and a few others are okay with being mentioned.

i am currently a part-time AAC user and a part-time mobility aid user. i hope to be a full-time AAC user and a full-time mobility aid user when im older.

i am a non-denominational Christian. i support all other religions, including atheism.

i may act maturely, but i am a minor. please stop sending asks looking for money!!! i cannot give you any! besides, even though i want to help you all, i wouldnt give you anything because i dont trust the internet very well.

list of things abled people think are so funny or creepy that it's societally normalized to either make fun of people with them, or to be disgusted by people with them, to the point that if you bring it up people will roll their eyes and tell you you're nitpicking

- strabismus (eyes are not in alignment. you call this cross eyed)

- lazy eye (reduced vision in one eye. you call strabismus lazy eye but it's not. a lot of people with lazy eye also have strabismus however, and a lot of people with strabismus have lazy eye, as both conditions can lead to each other. regardless, lazy eye is lazy eye and strabismus is strabismus. the medical term for lazy eye is amblyopia)

- ptosis (heavy eyelids, especially when one droops more than the other)

- facial paralysis (lopsidedness and inability or difficulty making facial expressions) and weakness (i have fucking concerned, morose bloodhound face and talk out of the corner of my mouth, does that explain it)

- twitching and jerking

- twisting movements of the body- especially when it's the head and neck are the ones i see ableism about the most

- stroke symptoms, particularly the speech issues but also everything else, like the teetering to one side/lack of balance/walking like you're drunk. and the weak face, different gait, and wrist drop.

- different ways of walking but the ones i see made fun of the most are waddling, teetering, and shuffling. the way zombies and monsters move is also relevant here.

- scoliosis (spine curves either in an s or a c), kyphosis (the term you might recognize is hunchback), and lordosis (back dips). bonus for getting made fun of AND for being in a multitude of horror movie monsters, villains, and monster designs

- intellectual disability, developmental disabilities, and brain damage in general

- drooling.

- going to go ahead and throw in incontinence here

- wrist drop when you can't call it elegant because it's being held to a chest, knocking against the thigh or knee, or can't be moved out of position

- hands clenched or held in strange positions (mine always does the fucking rock on gesture????)

- claw hand, most commonly seen in horror and villains. (this term refers to a hand that makes a claw shape. the fingers bend up. it hurts, so fucking badly, in case you were wondering)

- jittery, robotic incremental pauses in between movements. there is a medical term for this but i can't read right now. you see this in monsters a lot.

- wheezing, strangled laughter, as of someone who has problems fucking breathing.

- hypotonia (low muscle tone leading to squishiness and floppy legs- you make fun of people who stand with their legs twisted or bent at angles) and hypertonia (high muscle tone, which leads to rigidity and tension- you make fun of people who twist and drag their feet and clench their hands). these things are also commonly seen in zombies

all of these are neurological (brain, spine, nerves, muscles) symptoms.

and i'm probably missing some, even.

people really suck. all of these things are completely normal!!! society is just a total shithole.

have many of these things: lazy eye, ptosis (never knew that there was a medical term for it so that's cool), twitching and jerking (they're tics in my case but not always in everybody else's), different way of walking, scoliosis, drooling, hands held in strange positions (always either making the rock on hand too or asl ily), strangled laughter due to breathing issues, and hypotonia.

theyre completely normal. no idea why people make fun of them.

Fun fact about heterochromia!

There are 3 recognized types of heterochromia.

The most common is central heterochromia, which is the type I apparently have! It means your eye color is different around your pupil. In my case, amber in the central, blue everywhere else. It makes a lot of people think they're green.

There's also sectoral heterochromia, which my cat has. That's when a section of your eye is a different color. My cat has an amber section in his right eye, but his left eye and the remaining part of his right are both green.

Then there's complete heterochromia, which is what most people think of. Two different color eyes.

Do you see this picture? If you do, do you see anything wrong with it? Well you should.

This is a book, called STOP AUTISM NOW by Dr. Bruce Fife. I found it while looking for some autismy things I need. Of course I didn't nor will I ever buy it.

These books have and still cause multiple problems. Not only is it medically incorrect and misinformation but it causes harm to both autistic children and their parents. A tragic example of this is the case of Issy Stapleton, a young autistic girl who was almost murdered by her mother after the "cures" didn't work.

Books like this villainizes autism. And therefore villainizes autistics. It helps fuel the "better dead than disabled" mentality that is deeply rooted in eugenics. They convince people that autism is a harmful prison that thier child needs to be set free from.

Is it common to be absolutely touch adverse except with one (or a few) person(s)?

Hi there,

Many neurodivergent individuals are sensitive to touch. I don’t like to be touched much. But everyone is different and some aren’t as touch sensitive.

Anyway, my main point is that since everyone is different, everyone will have different reactions to touch, and other stimuli.

hi! im evan, i have many neurodivergencies.

as summer explained, everyone has their own preferences. especially when it comes down to sensory issues and touch sensitivities.

in my case, how you explained it is the same with me. i hate being touched by anyone in general. but, at certain times and with specific people, im okay with it.

with family, i hate being touched by them. im extremely touch averse when it comes to them.

but with one of my siblings (who isn't actually my sibling, just a family friend and my actual sibling's friend), i love their hugs. i love giving them hugs, i love it when they hug me. its also soothing when they pat my head.

and its similar with a few of my friends. one of my friends, the last time i saw him, she was almost sitting on top of my lap as we watched videos off of their phone. and i was fine with it. i enjoyed it.

so i think its definitely possible!

there's currently misinformation going around tumblr about what the SSI marriage penalty is, so this is my attempt to explain it in plain language.

when you marry someone who is not on SSI, and you are on SSI, their income is counted as your income. your SSI will be docked according to their income from then on. if their income outstrips your SSI (maximum SSI is $914 a month as of 2023), you will be ineligible for SSI from then on.

if two people on SSI get married, their maximum SSI benefits are reduced by 25%. they no longer get SSI as individuals, they get SSI as a couple, which is 25% less money than individuals are eligible for.

collectively, these two processes are known as the marriage penalty.

some news outlets are currently (September 2023) incorrectly reporting a bill as removing the marriage penalty. this is false. the bill is changing the savings cap for married couples on SSI. the savings cap is the amount of money you are allowed to save in your personal account before being kicked off SSI. this is different from the marriage penalty, and outlets referring to them as the same are conflating two different laws that apply to SSI recipients. please do not assume based on mis-worded news articles that you can get married without losing your income and health care if this bill passes. you may be putting yourself in danger by doing so.

Can people stop treating autism like some horrible illness and start realizing that most autistic kids aren't suffering because they're autistic, but because they're bullied not only by peers, but parents? If you want to woobify us autistic people, imagine how sad it makes you feel to have your own mom as your first bully because sometimes loud sounds are too much for you. The problem isn't us, it's the world we live in not caring to accommodate us. Speaking as a person who was kicked off an "inclusive" team for "lack of communication and disability." I had one time I couldn't talk because I'm verbalflux.

agree with op! parents were very first bullies. as were daycare attendants because parents told them to do specific bullshit when i did something they didn't want me to do.

because of unrealized trauma and abuse, was learning to mask by age three. fucking age three.
