Senku: Gen, you haven’t left the laboratory in three days, yet you somehow knew that Taiju used Yuzuriha’s fabric scissors?
Gen: It’s a gift, Senku-chan! I am simply in tune with the human psyche.
Chelsea:[Bursters into the room, out of breath, slamming a map onto the table] GUYS! You will NOT believe what I found while surveying the north ridge!
Senku: A new iron deposit?
Chelsea: No! Even better! Look at this layout! If you track the patterns, Tsukasa has been intentionally taking the long route to the river just to avoid making eye contact with Hyoga after their argument about protein! I mapped out the exact radius of their mutual awkwardness!
Gen: [Inspecting the map] Excellent work, Chelsea. The geography of spite.
Chelsea: Yay! I love helping with 'demographic research' [Runs off to map more drama]
Senku: ......You're weaponizing her enthusiasm.
Ukyo: I can’t do this anymore. My hearing is a curse. A literal curse.
Yuzuriha: [patting his shoulder sympathetically] Is it the boys again?
Ukyo: I am trapped in a noise war zone. On my left, Xeno and Stanley are destroying the drywall with what I can only describe as "passionate friction." And on my right?
Yuzuriha: Senku and Gen?
Ukyo: They were whispering for four hours. I thought they were being sweet, so I listened in. They aren't Yuzuriha. They are drafting a 45-page manifesto on how to psychologically gaslight Ryusui into funding a space program by manipulating the global oil market.
You have seen nothing🤓
Gen: Senku just gave me a jar of concentrated glycerol for our anniversary and said, "Don't mix it with nitric acid and sulfuric acid, unless you want to blow the village up."
Stanley: Sounds familiar. Reminds me of when Xeno gave me a custom neurotoxin for our first anniversary.
Xeno: It was a token of my undying devotion, Stanley!
Gen: Great. I am dating my father. I’ve reached peak psychological ruin.

hanahaki au where one night, gen coughs up flowers. he knows who it's for and how his feelings aren't reciprocated. he also knows that the kos doesn't have the time and resources for their mentalist to be out of commission just because of something as silly as unrequited love so the obvious route for gen to go down is hiding every single petal and his feelings.
and so time marches on and gen silently approaches death faster.
when gen is captured in america, he is allowed to listen in xeno's first conversation with the kos. at first, he is grateful that they understood his hint, and refused to give in to xeno's demands. however at the end, right before xeno hangs up, he offhandedly says, "how regretful, mr gen. it seems that as you're in the final stages of the disease, your life isn't even worth negotiating for."
Holy moly! The angst is sooooo good! 😭😭
When you think of more please post it!
ahhh thankyou you're too kind !! 🙈🙈 i do actually have a few more thoughts !
xeno hung up and there was a strange sort of silence that filled the room. there was a sense of anticipation - waiting to heart what the kos would respond with. and they both knew. knew that the kos would definitely respond. and so there was the aura of dread and doom around gen. the forced smile on his lips now felt too tight and required so much more effort to maintain.
"ahaha what are you saying xeno-chan? i'm not ill at all~"
"oh? did you think I wouldn't notice? it doesn't matter how good of a liar you may be, you are still suffocating and I have the results to prove it."
gen wasn't sure if he wanted to continue talking but he was quite sure that when taiju's voice boomed out of xeno's phone, the dread in him intensified.
"what are you talking about? gen isn't sick! did you do something to him?"
and oh, gen could see how this would end.
"no, on the contrary, it's something one of you didn't do." xeno must have found being purposefully vague amusing, which was very cruel of him, seeing how direct he had been with his demands earlier.
"what do you mean?" somewhere, in the back of his mind, gen wondered if it was possible for everyone to suddenly turn deaf. or maybe, xeno would suddenly show a little mercy for him.
"well, clearly he isn't loved. I find the flowers in his lungs are evident enough."
perhaps stanley had somehow appeared behind and shot him.
gen suddenly found himself so... so naked.
something dark and ugly that had been squashed deep within him for years was suddenly ripped out and laid bare for all to see. it was as if the world was mocking him; look at this idiot who thought himself strong and capable enough to hide his deepest fears and feelings from everyone forever! how laughable!
what was he supposed to do now? if he jumped in now and said that this was all a trick, and that they shouldn't believe xeno's cruel words, would the situation become salvageable?
feeling dazed and weak, gen only half-registered his friends' responses; it sounded as if he was miles and miles away from the phone.
a flurry of shocked noises and heated arguments flooded out the phone. it seemed that taiju was no longer the spokesperson and this was a matter that required the entire kos' concern.
all around him, there was noise. some shouted into the phone demanding proof, more information, and to speak to gen. others discussed among themselves, trying to come to terms with not just the fact that gen was in love with someone but that he was dying because of it.
and senku... senku was thinking. his brain sped through every memory of gen he had. he thought back to every single one of their interactions and all the times he had silently observed gen.
senku recalled them bantering with each other, recalled how gen seemed to always know how to help, recalled gen's soft smiles and the light in his eyes.
and then senku recalled how gen's face seemed to get paler, how during the many nights when the two worked late and ended up falling asleep together, gen's breathing had sounded so heavy, so pained, and how sometimes, and it really was a rare occasion because gen never lets himself slip for long and often, gen just seemed so.... so tired and resigned.
during those times, senku would feel this strange insistent ache in his chest and the inane urge to walk over and... and... and what? what could senku have even done? feelings were not something he dealt with. he couldn't even begin to really understand how he felt about seeing gen in such a state, what could he even have said that would be helpful?
why did it have to be this way? senku has never felt so out of his depth. if it were anything else, he was confident that he would've understood gen better, faster, earlier. gen wouldn't have suffered silently for so long, and wouldn't have had his suffering exposed to all, all while he was alone in enemy territory. and, it wouldn't have had to be like this: gen's imminent death being used to force the kos' hand. but that wasn't even what was bothering senku.
it did bother him but there was one selfish thought that kept ringing in his head: he should've told me.
senku knew it was unfair of him to think this way. after all, he had just admitted that he was unskilled when it came to understanding and discussing the matters of the heart. however. still. despite all that... senku genuinely believed that he and gen shared a connection.
it wasn't the kind of connection he shared with chrome, the kind fostered and built on their mutual love for discovery and understanding, filled with the understanding and admiration from their mentor-mentee relationship.
it also wasn't the kind of connection he shared with taiju and yuzuriha, the kind that developed slowly but surely throughout their years and time spent together, filled with the trust and love in friendships that ran deep and long.
but maybe this connection was similar to those. similar in the sense that senku still, without ever giving it any prior formal acknowledgement, treasured it and had come to rely on it. and gen, despite what he himself may claim, was a reliable person, for he has never once let senku down. it seemed that senku has come to rely on gen for many things.
so maybe, with that in mind, it would be a little fair for senku to feel hurt that gen did not seem him worthy enough to rely on, to talk to about his suffering. because senku knew that what gen was suffering from, was big and heavy. and most importantly, it was a very lonely thing. and it really didn't have to be this way. and this led to another smaller, but equally insistent voice that said: if he had told me, I would've helped him.
this was a very strange and startling thought to focus on. senku knew how hanahaki disease occurred; gen loved someone who did not love him back. he also knew what hanahaki does to the body; gen will first feel constantly short of breath, next, he will cough up petals which will escalate into fully grown flowers, finally, he will die.
so, how on earth could've senku helped him? it wasn't as if gen loved him.
because. because... maybe, if, by some miracle, gen did love senku, there might be a chance, a possibility, that just perhaps, the disease wouldn't have occurred.
this line of thought caught senku off guard. did he really have feelings for gen?
a/n that i've decided not to put in tags simply because I'm afraid of hitting the limit again...: I forgot to mention that despite my lack of planning (can you tell that i'm winging this idea as I go) and surprisingly forgetting that hanahaki au is angsty (idk how I overlooked this), I've always thought of this with a happy ending !! it is really important to me that everyone knows that I did not expect to write more but always knew that sengen must get a happy ending !
i forgot to post this one here lmaooooo. vampire x vampire hunter au or something

Burn [cover] animatic video
---
Finally it's done (*´▽`*)
What a doozie of an animatic, I did lose steam a bit at the end so sorry for the quality drop but still overall the theme and emotion is there so im happy overall.
I know the main question is what happened? Why did Senku cheat? Honest answer I don’t know. I just wanted to animate Gen singing this :D but I’m interested to hear any theories you might have down below.
Humanity is back and so are dating apps! Gen wanting to get over his feelings for Senku decided to give one of the apps a try, but for some reason his profile keeps getting deleted. He thinks it's just a glitch though and remakes it every time.
The truth?
Yo found his profile immediately told Senku about it who went to Sai and asked him to make a program that will delete Gen's profile anytime he makes one.
Looks like Senku needs to hurry and make his move.
