hiya, what level of detail is expected from the summary and outline for writer pitches ?
i don’t tend to plan much when i write things. i come up with the idea, note down the key points then start writing. i often don’t know how it’s going to end until like halfway through. is it okay to have an idea that doesn’t have a fixed ending or does it need to have a very clear structure for the entirety of the fic ?
just want to make sure i include all the right information 😊
Hello, thanks for the ask! The reason we’re going to be asking for these, is so the artists can understand as much as possible about your pitch!
So, with that in mind, we would be looking for some form of structure; it doesn’t have to be extremely detailed. Even just a ‘this is how it starts, this might be how it goes’ would suffice!
The summary can just be an altered pitch idea! If your pitch is “sengen, but Senku is a cat shapeshifter, and Gen is a wolf shapeshifter. They need to survive a winter together” you could make your summary “Senku, a cat shapeshifter, is stranded in a forest without his family. He meets Gen, a wolf shapeshifter, who knows the lay of the land and offers help. Senku is distrustful of him, but needs to take the calculated risk. They need to figure out how to survive the winter together.” Doesn’t need to include major story beats! Just the idea.
And, these can change! We understand as you write, ideas can change, story plots can evolve, and sometimes you’re struck with ‘Eureka!’ moments. Anything that can help convey your idea to the artists claiming pitches is all we need!
So, what you’ve described as ‘noting down the key points’ should be good for an outline! Just try to structure it in a way the artists can understand!
If there are any further questions or need to clarify, once the Discord opens you’ll be free to ask for help there, or open a ticket! We’ll be there every step of the way during pitch creation (and beyond) for any issues or inquires that pop up!
