       it was starting to become less frequent. that uncomfortably tight sensation        that ached in her chest and stole her breath. as the days rolled on, chihiro        sen found it much easier to distract herself. there was always work that        needed to be done. things to be cleaned, customers to be tended to.        it wasn’t until these quiet afternoons, before kamaji lit the boilers, that she        even found herself able to think. let her mind fully comprehend how dire of        a situation she was in. none of this seemed right or even, quite frankly, real.        but the crushing anxiety mixed with rising nausea was enough to convince        her. huddled in the safety of the garden, knees pressed to her chest, sen         tried her best to steady herself. but she had never felt more a l o n e.
