Imagine I’m a self proclaimed “horticulturist”, I go into the woods, I walk past every single species of edible berry, nut and mushroom; and I gorge myself on poisonous mushrooms and berries.

I almost die, I take months to recover, I go back to the woods, and repeat this process dozens of times throughout the course of my adult life.

I act smug and talk down to people who eat mushrooms on pizza or muffins with berries. I emphatically insist I can tell whenever a plant or fungus is healthy to eat.

This is basically the logic of every self proclaimed “empath” I’ve ever met.

is it unreasonable to expect a partner to:

- make at least $40k a year

- have a stable job

- have a working car

- no criminal record

- be in therapy

- attend college

- work out at least 3 times a week

- not be obese

- not be racist

- not have extremists political views as opposed to taking responsibility for their personal shortcoming.

- not ghost me for weeks.

Is that too much?
