Am I (17M) the asshole for stabbing my ‘best friend’ (6 months) after giving him the best day he wanted?

okay for context we’ve been friends more or less our entire lives. he’s my best friend and i can’t imagine life without him, and he’s always really kind and happy even if he’s a dumbass. i wouldn’t be who i am without him. our families are really close too. but six months ago he got into an accident on the mountains and since then he’s basically been a different person, at least to me. he’s way more openly affectionate and he’s not scared of horror movies anymore, but also he’s very childish and he’ll lash out and hurt people and not understand why that’s bad. i’ve tried to be supportive and stay by his side but it’s really hard.

the other day he hurt one of our friends (16F) really bad, and then he told me he’s the one who hurt an old lady in our village really bad and she didn’t survive. i’m the only one who knows he did that though. our friend doesn’t remember the incident but i still felt bad so i decided to teach my best friend what death was like so he knows how important it is. but i didn’t want to just kill him without some nice final moments so we skipped school and we went to see a movie with both wanted to see for ages. i even won him a prize from the arcade and promised i’d take him to the beach one day. we went back to my house and he was really happy watching a video of our friends so i thought this would be a nice last moment for him and i stabbed him. i used my mom’s good kitchen knife too. he got really upset with me for doing it but we talked it out because and we came to understand each other a bit better now. he even gave me half of his insides to look after so he can understand death better.

i think things are going to be okay from here on out and he says it’s fine but i still think maybe i was in the wrong. if it helps i felt really bad about it and i asked him to kill me afterwards. aita?
