Qessyn paused. The only instructions that she had been given were to be a good spouse.
If being a good spouse to a Kariian meant getting a further education, who was she to refuse?
“The only laws that apply to me now are the laws of Kariio,” she smiled. “If your people would have me as a student, I would be honored to accept your offer.”
As frightening as the Kariians were, it sounded like she would have a lot more freedom (even encouragement) to pursue her intellectual interests. Perhaps this arrangement wouldn’t be so terrible?
Still…Zovariy didn’t seem to keen on the arrangement themselves, or perhaps Kariians were as cold as their planet.
“I appreciate your hospitality. Thank you.”
“Well then,” they simpered, a crooked half smile twitching up their lips. “The mind is a blade I’ll always be happy to sharpen.”
Indeed, they never tired of learning, and their thirst for knowledge never faltered. They gorged themselves on it and eagerly, and in a way, they felt.. excited, maybe, at the prospect of being able to teach someone. If she was to be their bonded, she had much to learn.
Finally, they came to the end of their walk, stopping at a large door that loomed at leader three heads over even them. Their palm rested on a panel at the outside, a pinkish red light washing over their hand as it was scanned. The doors hissed apart.
“Welcome to your room,” Zovariy said, ushering her inside.
The room was, by all standards, spacious. Everything here was carved into the Yukariksias mountain, but the location became all the more obvious as they stepped inside, the ceiling curving down into a large window that stretched from wall to wall, overlooking a city below. White furs -- clothes -- were stretched across the expanse of the silken sheets that covered the bed, a simple but sleek black. Zovariy stepped side one of the large pillars in the center of the room, arm sweeping out and gesturing to the sight displayed to her, all lit dimly with foreboding red lights.
“This will be where you are staying. Should you desire any changes to it, you’re welcome to redecorate.”
