Fifteen pieces? Yes that did sound a little on the pricy side, but given what they were used for and how difficult they were to make, Talyn wasn’t about to argue. However, the last bit about nightmares and anxiety catches his attention, and his hand lingers over his satchel on his hip, thinking twice.
“What kind of side effects are you talking about?” If they were really bad, then maybe an alternative would be the wiser choice.
In the end, he really did need a couple of these to do his job. They were meant to keep him awake for extended periods of time which had the potential to leave him mentally drained for the next few days after they wear off. Nightmares were already sort of a problem, but Talyn didn’t think he suffered too much from anxiety. Or at least he hadn’t given it any thought until now. Now, he wasn’t sure.

Rain came down in the streets, sheets and sheets of water crashing down on the paved walkway. Very few people were out in this kind of water, usually it kept most people inside, any outside life pausing for time inside.
Unfortunately, Rio had been caught half-way through the city without an umbrella. He couldn’t just wait it out because of his schedule, and he didn’t know how long they lasted on Sigma Rhada 6, so half soaked, he dashed through the streets without protection. Finally found a place where he could get something to hold over his head, but by that point he was already soaked through. He hated how far the docking area was to the rest of the actual city, but considering what he had heard of this place, it would be worth it.
Finally, he made his way to the front of the apothecary storefront, and ducked under the awning of the store. He shook his hair, trying to get it drier than half-soaked, before giving up. He folded up the umbrella and made his way through the door.
Instantly it was like entering another place and time. The scents of hundreds if not a thousand different dried or maintained plants filled the place, but not in an overwhelming sense. All along one of the walls were glass containers on shelves, all labeled with their contents, all from floor to ceiling.
Closing the cheap umbrella and leaving it in the corner near the door, Rio called out. “Hello? Anyone in?”

It was a sight she’d witnessed before: wringing hands, darting pupils narrowed to unhappy slivers, how visibly unsettled he was right down to the twitching tail. Riding on a gut feeling, she turns the askew “open” sign to “closed”, Naru could chide her later for disrupting business if he wished, she didn't care, right now she needed to care for a friend.
The little bard climbs onto his counter, a spot that’d quickly become a sort of perch for her, far easier than craning her neck every time she wished to speak with him.
She hums, holding his upper arm gently. ❝ Hey there. Penny for your thoughts? ❞
He hesitates of course, he always hesitates, never wishing to burden her with his own problems, but after some soft persuasion, a squeezing hand, his shoulders seem to fall, and lips loosen. After listening for a long while, giving her two-cents in the pauses, he seems to take a long sigh of relief, some of the tension finally leaving his jaw, but leaving him haggard. The issue was too many people in the busy season, it seemed, too much going on, so much work to get done, not enough hours in the day, setbacks, etc.
Nova waits for an opportune moment, then guides his head down and presses a quick peck to the tip of his nose, then another to the bridge, and so on and so forth, until she mapped a path of affection the entire way up the crest of his forehead, then repeating the motion to both his cheeks and jaw.
❝ I won’t... ❞

❝ Stop...❞

❝ Until you... ❞

They were bent over on their front-knees, the mouth-piece of their helmet retracted to reveal jagged fangs dripping with glittering pinkish-red blood. Magenta stained the entire front of their chest as well as what little of their white fur showed through gaps and places where their body-suit was torn. Breaths came quick and close together, the gravity of the planet itself as well as armor that suddenly felt too heavy weighing very literally upon them. They doubled over further, gripping tightly at the gravel underneath their claws.
The world was full of white-noise. The sound was hard to ignore before, but impossible now with the way it throbbed in every ear, rattling their very skull. Again, they retched, blood splattering onto the ground. More than simply feeling awful, they felt ill.
“Well, well… Seems we have some easy pickings.”
Just out of reach, they heard a voice, unfamiliar and alien. The words barely registered, but Zovariy instantly went on the alert. They lashed out with a clumsy paw, the movement easily avoided by the stranger who was now circling them, seemingly appraising them more than anything.
They groaned half in distress, and half in frustration, limbs feeling like jelly.

Needless to say, the poor apothecary was a bit… surprised by such an inquiry from a stranger. One might even say put off, and he went so far as to lean back a bit from the counter with a frown. But it wasn’t in his nature to be rude, so he managed a stammer before replying.
“Um… well me owning this apothecary is pretty clear, uh… I like to read? I’ve got a garden on the roof? I’m not… sure what you’re wanting to know.”
“Anything you wish to share. You come across as an interesting being, and therefore I would like to get to know you. ” The sniper did his best to straighten his posture, towering a good foot more than the Dreian; he hadn’t intended to sound as brash as he had initially, but alas, t’was a common fault. He was never very good with social skills.
“I am often told my kind are killed for their... Inane curiosity, yet here I am, curious as to why you’ve come to own an apothecary. Your interest in medicines and the like. You are not required to answer. But it would be appreciated if you did, all the same.”
Thuban nodded, biting back a quip about trusting Sigma Rhada water, filling a glass and then passing it to his patron, glass half full of ice.
“Lookss like you’re sstranded here then, hmm?”

Attention was certainly drawn at this time during a storm of all things. Candlelight flickered through stained glass and fractured sections of crystal and other strange materials, casting the interior of the shop in warm golds and reds in geometric gleam.
The owner rounded a corner, transparent shawl tucked over striped shoulders to regard the stranger. Hesitation drifted, a crack of thunder from outside flattening soft ears as she peeked a sheepish smile.
"Of course not, here." She turned to a shelf, taking down a long cloak from one of the piles before directing him to a reading corner and offering the piece of clothing.
"I simply didn't expect anybody in with the torrent out there. Are you alright? And your aura fern? I can set it under a star tray to dry the excess if you need."
