My ex partner got me thrown off hrt after she abandoned me and my wife so for a year I've been seeing my hrt gains from over 5 years of hrt slowly recede. I'm really exhausted of it, it feels horrible, and it might be contributing to my chronic pain. This pride I'd really like to get back on hrt and since they're screwing around with my insurance still I'm going to have to pay out of pocket one way or another. I'm setting the goal high because I really don't know what its going to end up costing. Please help a disabled trans woman not lose over half a decade worth of transition progress.

I don't want to be dramatic but it's actually dangerous for young LGBT people to think their rights came from media representation lol. They didn't decriminalize homosexuality or crossdressing because of a handful of rich gay celebrities or famous drag queens being sufficiently Visible™️. If you actually think that you're wholly unprepared to fight back against what's here and what's coming.
I see so many people talking about “NOPE”’s symbolism and spectacles and jean jacket but is NO ONE GONNA TALK ABOUT THE PHENOMENAL SOUND DESIGN IN THIS ENTIRE MOVIE???? One of the first thing you pick up from the beginning is just sounds of materials clanking and moving with a black screen, drawing your attention immediately before any scene even start. The use of ECHO- from the echoing around the ranch to the COSMIC HORROR SOUND OF DISTANT HORSE NOISE AND SCREAMING. THAT IS SOME DREAD FILLING SOUNDS THAT CHILL ME TO THE CORE. The sound of Jean Jacket moving around! The sound of Jean Jacket digestion scene! The use of silence enhancing the tension! And don’t even get started on the score and music choice!!! Absolutely phenomenal use and right timing. Really enhance all of the tensions this movie gives. The music played on the radio and record player were well picked, love them. Seriously, this movie have great sound design. I’m absolutely floored.
Nope (2022) is such a brilliant movie in so many ways. It’s about the inherent evil of spectacle. It’s about Hollywood’s abuse of animals. It’s about stealing and erasing black history. It’s about how personification is ultimately a bad thing. It’s about trauma. It’s about the never ending cycle of abuse that comes from exploitation. It’s about predator and prey. It’s about looking up to the heavens in awe. It’s about averting your gaze lest you be punished. It’s about respecting animals. It’s about the way poc are treated in media. It’s about how far some people will go for money. It’s an alien movie but it’s a monster movie but it’s a western but it’s a si-fi and it’s the best movie I’ve ever seen.
thinking about how OJ definitely watched UFO videos in his spare time well before Jean Jacket.
thinking about how he actually started talking to Angel (as much as he talks) because Angel just softly said "you know they don't call them UFOs anymore"
of course Em understands and believes him when he sees something. but the fact that this weird jerk just quietly validates him without knowing anything about it (before bursting into an unhinged rant) is important too.
it's a miniscule detail but it defines their relationship for the whole movie. Angel gets OJ. he figures out their plan immediately. Angel's coworker asks about OJ, not Em, despite her being the one he was talking to. OJ looks at him, not the sky, when he comes back and shows them the cloud and he and OJ are on the same page about it not being enough. he's the one who nixes "use horses as bait" plan on the siblings' behalf. he's the one who asks if they can help people and OJ is the person he looks to when he does. Angel possibly dying because of Holst is the most shaken OJ gets (after Star Lasso) until Jean Jacket almost gets Em a couple minutes later.
it's a tiny microcosm of being seen. the emotional crux of the movie hinges on who sees us and how: consumed as a spectacle for entertainment or seen by the people who value and love us.
Angel sees OJ and that matters because it's clear not that many people do.
