Today is Zhou Mi’s birthday, yes… but today is also the anniversary the car accident that took place on April 19, 2007; the accident that nearly claimed Cho Kyuhyun’s life.
But this post isn’t about what we almost lost on that night, but what we gained and how.
To recap: Leeteuk, Shindong, Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun were in the van with two managers, on their way home from a radio broadcast when the accident occured. Eunhyuk and Shindong obtained minor scratches, Leeteuk slightly worse, while Kyuhyun was flung from the vehicle. I’m not going to go into the injuries he sustained, but they were extensive. And while he lay there on the asphalt, only 19 years old, watching his memories flash before his eyes as he realized he was goign to die, Eunhyuk was there. Eunhyuk was there holding his hand. Eunhyuk was there crying with him. Eunhyuk was there praying with them. Eunhyuk was there protecting him.
I wasn’t aware of any of this until this story aired on Strong Heart over the summer, I didn’t know just how much gratitude I owed to Eunhyuk. Eunhyuk. Eunhyuk, “thank you” doesn’t even begin to cover it.

None of these are adequate, not one.
The accident that took place 4 years ago affects me strongly for a number of reasons. An obvious one? Four years ago we almost lost one of the most precious people in the world. Four years ago, Eunhyuk assisted in saving his life. Eunhyuk.. Hyukjae.. Lee Hyukjae.. I am eternally grateful.. T_T
Kyuhyun, Cho Kyuhyun. Do you have any idea, any inkling of how strong you are? You inspire me, you inspire so many people. You are amazing. You are so amazing. You are wonderful and amazing and…
You are. I love you and I love Eunhyuk and I love all of Super Junior. You are a support system in and of yourself. You are all amazing and you’ve been through so much.
The day you almost lost your life, you gained a new life. And Zhou Mi, Zhou Mi received life this day, as well.
Today isn’t a day to remember what we almost lost, as much as I fight against it; it’s a day to remember life.
Our boys are alive. Our boys are well. Our boys are perfect. ♥ They’re perfect. :’)
