I got this announcement notification from one of my discord channel and I thought I dare to make a call on it to spread the word. I find personally important - I personally think this is bad and shouldn’t pass - I personally think it worth to write up and spread. I try not share strange or suspicious links either.

Article 13 is basically conceived to deal with the “I’m just hosting / indexing / providing a tracker for content, but the content itself is not mine in any way”.
The “solution” for this “problem” is to make any and all service providers legally responsible for everything they touch AND make checking said stuff mandatory.
Proposed is the obvious - automated (((algorithms))) (read: content recognition AI) to sort through all the data, while they “permit” providers to take down shit that slipped through by hand.
So that’s bad to begin with, but get this. They’re so out of touch: Article 11 of the same directive proposes a “snippet tax” for copyrighted content - as in, a few second clip, or a few lines of text from somewhere and you have to pay some small amount of moneys to whomever that originates from.
No sharing news on social media
No torrent trackers (any)
No, or very boring anonymous image boards
Spoopy AI looking through your posts (the way they worded it, it even applies to emails and DMs)
