Summary: Reader is a plant based demon, specifically atropa belladonna. Reader died after eating the berries, not knowing they were poisonous. Reader started working at the hotel before Charlie announced the opening of the hotel on the news. Reader wanted to help the place feel more lively so they started working as a gardener. Reader is able to summon any plant they can think of and they started a rooftop garden at the hotel shortly after Alastor came to the hotel.

A few weeks after the hotel is open…Y/n was walking around the hotel with their watering can, checking to see if any plants needed water. This has become a daily morning and night routine for them. As they walked down the hallway from the lobby to the stairway, where they came from, Alastor popped his head from one of the closets.
“Alastor, what are you doing in the closet?” Y/n pondered.
“Vaggie gave me a huge pile of stuff she wanted me to sort in this closet. I heard someone coming down the hall so I poked my head out to see who it was.”
“Oh, what kind of stuff?”
“Office supplies, look at the amount of paper in here! There’s at least 20 different colors and varieties of paper!”
Y/n pops their head into the closet and looks at the huge stack of papers on a small wire shelving unit. “Wow, that is a lot. We could do some origami one day!”
Alastor raises his eyebrow in surprise. He didn’t expect a craft suggestion. “What a lovely idea, y/n. You know how to do origami?”
Reader looks up at Alastor with excitement in their eyes, “Of course! I used to do origami with my grandmother and a friend of mine in primary school.”
“You’ll have to show me one day,” Alastor looks between y/n and the stack of papers.
Y/n smiles, “Of course, I can show you when the garden is finished for sure!” Y/n then realizes they have yet to finish watering the plants around the first floor. “Speaking of gardening, I should finish up the watering, I’ll talk to you later Alastor!”
“Alright have fun!” Y/n leaves Alastor in the closet to finish organizing while they go off to finish watering the plants around the hotel. Later that day…
It was after dinner and y/n was sitting on a bench they just set up in their rooftop garden. They were thinking of doing something nice for everyone at the hotel since they were so nice to them, but they didn’t know what. They also really wanted to do something nice for Alastor specifically.
They have some very meaningful conversations almost daily but he always keeps a distance between y/n and himself. Y/n has taken a liking to Alastor and honestly it’s more than platonic. They were worried that Alastor was keeping a distance because he found them annoying and the conversations they had were him just being polite and chatting with them. Y/n sighs and sweeps a gaze around the partially finished garden. They didn’t want a heartbreak, but they at least wanted to be Alastor’s friend. After a few minutes of sitting, thinking, and staring at the garden around them, they decide to get up and grow a few more plants before they water the plants inside the hotel.
Angel walked into the lobby, with Fat Nuggets on a leash, having just walked him after dinner. He sees Alastor sitting on an armchair with a small stack of papers. “Hey smiles, whatcha got there?”
“Oh hello Angel! I sorted a bunch of paper and office supplies this morning so I figured I would make a little booklet with each type of paper and color we have so we have a reference for what we have.”
“I’m guessing Vaggie asked you to do that.” Angel frowns at Alastor. He crouches down and unclips the leash from Fat Nuggets. Fat Nuggets proceeds to run up to Angel’s room.
“Of course! Why else would I be doing this?”
“Fair enough,” Angel walks over to the armchair next to the one Alastor is in and plops down into the seat, “I gots a question for ya Smiles.”
Alastor looks over at the spider boy, “Ask away”
“I noticed your body language is different around y/n, you got a thing for them?” Angel asks, ready to tease the radio demon if he answers yes.
“Yeah,” Alastor trails off, pretending to be absorbed in his paper sorting and labeling for Vaggie. “But plants don’t like me that much. I seem to kill plants just by touching them and honestly I’m scared that if I touch y/n they would wither.”
“I was gonna tease ya about it but that was deep” Angel looks at Alastor, who is still pretending to work and smirks. “I have an idea for a little game between us,”
“This better be somehow related to what we were just talking about.”
“Of course it is Al! Hows about you confess to y/n that you love them within a week or I’m gonna tell them for ya.”
“Fine, one week to confess starting now.”
Angels smirks, he gets up from the armchair and waves to Alastor as he walks out of the lobby. “See ya Smiles!”
The next day…After breakfast and their morning watering routine, y/n is sitting on the new bench of the rooftop garden, suddenly they spring to their feet. They just had a great idea. “I could make flowers or other plant bouquets for everyone as a gift!” They exclaim to themselves.
They started growing the plants they were gonna use in the bouquets, carefully picking out which plants to grow for who. About 30 minutes later they had six beautiful bouquets, one for each person in the hotel.
Chrysanthemums and lilies for Charlie, purple irises for Vaggie, peonies and bleeding hearts for Angel Dust, pink asters for Niffty, barley and hops for Husk, and red roses with the thorns removed for Alastor.
Y/n went around the hotel giving everyone their respective bouquets, receiving thanks and even a couple hugs from Niffty and Charlie. They had one bouquet left to deliver, the red roses for Alastor.
They were a little nervous, to say the least. They knew red roses are meant as a romantic symbolism but they couldn’t think of anything else and to say they aren't romantically interested in Alastor would be a lie. Little did they know, Alastor shared those feelings and was in his room trying to psyche himself up to tell y/n they like them. *knock knock* y/n knocked on Alastor’s door and waited anxiously for him to answer.
As Alastor was opening the door, y/n shoved the bouquet of roses towards him, their face tinted red. Alastor, seeing the roses, started turning red as he saw who was giving them to him.
“Yeah, I wanted to give everyone a gift for being so kind to me and I couldn’t think of anything else, so I made everyone bouquets and, here is yours.” Y/n’s face was on fire, they were tomato red and couldn’t bring their eyes up to meet Alastor’s flustered gaze.
Alastor takes the bouquet cautiously, as if it were to explode. But all the roses did when they touched his hand was start to wilt and die.
Y/n’s eyes went wide. “Is that why you seem nervous to be close to me? You were scared I would wilt?”
“Yes, y/n I have taken a liking to you but I know plants and I don’t have a good history. Just as you said, I was afraid that if I touched you then you would die again.”
“Al, I’m not like other plants, I won’t wilt the same way. Look.” y/n grabs his hand free of roses and looks him in the eyes. “I’m fine, you don’t have to worry about hurting me.”
Alastor smiles at y/n and intertwines their fingers. “Would you be my romantic partner?”
Y/n lets out a light chuckle at the formality, “Yes, I would love that, Al. Let’s go make some roses that won’t wilt.” Y/n basically drags him from his room and to the closet Alastor organized the day before.
“I can show you how to do more than flowers with origami.” y/n smiles at Alastor, letting go of his hand to start grabbing different colors of paper as they spend the day making origami flowers, swans and anything else y/n could remember how to make.
