I was going to stay a little later, just to tie up loose ends. A few of the younger flowers need early pruning, but I wanted to double check before doing that. [ he rubs the back of his neck with a sheepish smile ] And admittedly I enjoy work like this, so there’s not much use in me going home too soon. What about you? I heard you mentioning something about herb study?
"Very admirable. I would offer to help, but I'm more in the area of medicinal plants & the mixing of them than pruning them." A small laugh left her. "It's nice, isn't it? Kind of relaxing; it reminds me of home, too."
Softly, a smile graced her lips. "Mhm. Before I came here, I was learning about herbal medicine and identifying which flowers, roots, and plants are healing or poisonous. This work keeps me on my toes, so I'm not rusty when I go back."
Hazel eyes drew to a batch of fan-shaped, green plants potted behind him, "In fact, those ginkgo's promote relief of anxiety and depression stewed or steeped in tea. Neat, right? Plants have a lot of incredible uses."
The awkward air between the two was thick. Almost like tension, just not as bad. The redhead mirrored the brunette, rubbing the back of her neck with her own hand. Again, she looked away not knowing what else to say. A moment or two passed before Misty sighed out heavily, and smiled at the girl, bemused.
“ I think we may have gotten off on the wrong foot; I didn’t mean to insult you or anything, I was just a bit surprised by the bow. Don’t get many of those back in my world. Don’t have youkai, either. ”
There was another slight pause before the gym leader held her hand out, ready to shake the other’s.
“ My name’s Misty. ”
A release of tension washed over them as Misty finally spoke. Thank goodness. Kagome shifted her weight from one foot to the other, a new, sincere smile settling on her lips. "It's fine. I must have sounded crazy talking about youkai to someone who's never seen one before," a small laugh left her, "I almost had the same reaction my first time learning about them."
Kagome eagerly took her hand, giving it a gentle shake. "Kagome. I hope we can be better friends than what ... this started out as."

It was dark out, and it was pretty cold. Yet, that didn’t stop Riku from wearing only a his yellow vest and black undershirt to keep him warm. As he made his way outside, it became more and more apparent how slippery the sidewalk was. After a few minutes of sliding and nearly falling, it finally happened. He fell right over, falling on his back, and laid there for a few seconds. He had hoped no one was around to see that, but he was about to find out he was wrong.
He looked at the girl before him. “Let’s uh…let’s pretend that never happened.”
On her way out to get take-out noodles, Kagome hadn't expected to spend nearly the entire walk holding back muffled laughter while a young man ahead of her struggled with the icy sidewalk. She felt bad -- really, she did! But it was just so hard not to laugh, at least a little. Pale lips pressed into her wool scarf, warding off the cool & emerging snickers.
Finally, it happened; he lost balance, slid, and toppled over. A quick gasp escaped her before she skipped towards him, nimble on her feet. "Are you okay?" Kagome spoke to him softly, though a giggle left in the wake of her concern. A hand was offered to him as she smiled. "Well ... we both know what just happened, and all that slipping and sliding back there was kind of building it up too much to pretend it didn't happen ..." she paused, quietly giggling once more, "But I guess I can try."
In Lordran, there was a great deal of discrimination against humans. Many of the knight’s kin felt that they were beings born solely of darkness, and had no right to live in the same domain as gods. Perhaps it had been held beneath quiet, but such was the general consensus in the knight’s land. It was one of the very few things in which Artorias disagreed upon, and he often found himself at odds with certain others in regards to the mindset.
Why share this, one might ask? The knight could not help but repeat such a thing within his mind, as he passed by the young maiden. She seemed a stark contrast to such beliefs; her very soul shined with purity, the likes of which Artorias only saw in saints and priests of his land. It was quite an astonishing sight, truly.

Curious was her gaze, roaming over every detail of the man's armour and towering stature. Not a word would leave her lips, if only because she couldn't determine whether he was someone you wanted to approach as a stranger, or not. But his suit was one she'd never had the opportunity to be seen worn outside of movies and mascots -- folks certainly didn't don clinking armour like his in the feudal Japanese era, either. Kagome wondered, then, what era he must have hailed from; the denizens of Hive being a melting pot of generations and dimensions.
Suddenly feeling rude, Kagome averted her eyes. She would have gone on to her own business if he hadn't come up to her, only moments after. A steady beating quickened in her chest; had he noticed her staring? A weak smile forced unto peach lips, hazel regarding the man once more.
The words that would leave his mouth next surprised her, not baring any threat or disdain -- rather, offering her an eloquent sort of compliment. A small hand pressed softly against her heart. ... He must have been some medieval interpretation of a smooth talker. Smile once insincere settled into a smirk, thin brows arched. Kagome had certainly had her fair share of other-worldly suitors, and comments such as these were nothing new in theory; in verbatim, most definitely.
Still, she replied wholly. "Thank you ... That's sweet, I think." Despite initial reservations, his apparent ability to see her soul intrigued her, and so she inferred to it as such, "You can see my soul?"

You awake to discover 4 or 5 presents stowed away in your abode, all of which have been boxed in pristine, vibrantly wrapped boxes adorned with bows. Some of these boxes contain: a framed picture of Inuyasha, a leash, 3 designer dresses to your liking, a deluxe makeup kit and a selection of hair ornaments. (This is not to be published or responded to until the 25th. Merry Christmas!)
Kagome held the leash and framed photo of Inuyasha in either of her hands. Ebony brows furrowed, confusion etched on her features. "What am I supposed to do with these ... ?" She spoke aloud to herself. Santa had an odd sense of humor. Pooled beside her was the leash, and instead she held the picture in her hands firmly; at first, she was half-hearted about it, though seeing his sharp, stubborn face for the first time in quite a while left her feeling nostalgic and yearning. A wistful sigh passed her lips, and she pressed it to her heart.
Next, the dresses were removed from their boxes. A smile replaced her melancholy expression as she admired them. As much of a girl as any, Kagome appreciated a nice dress -- and to top it off, there was make up and hair ornaments, too! She would wear them the very next day, all dressed up in designer fabrics and sparkling accessories.
"Thank you, Santa," Kagome called out to no one in particular, though heavy with gratefulness.
